Bigger boob's as you get older

Roundthemoon · 11/10/2024 09:30

Has this happened to anyone else?

Im 40. I've stayed at pretty much the same weight that I always have been.

But my boob's have gotten so much bigger in the last two years. They are huge. Im all boob!

I've never had children so it's not to do with breastfeeding. Is it something to do with perimenopause? I wish I knew what goes on in our hormones!

Yes, post menopause. But I was only an A cup before so I am still not too busty. You have my sympathy.
I am on HRT. Can't say it makes any difference.

Shopgirl1 · 11/10/2024 09:58

No, mine are smaller if anything, but I am also a bit slimmer now in my late 40s than I was in my 30s…and I am post menopause, but much more health conscious now, so slimmer as a result of better diet and exercise.

indianrunnerduck · 11/10/2024 09:58

I have been puzzling about this, I am a long way past the menopause, which took place early 40s and it didn't affect my size or shape. But once I reached 60, my body shape changed from that of an ironing board with two Smarties on it to something else. My boobs are twice the size, I have a belly & thicker waist, so have changed clothes size. I have never had children, nothing has changed in my lifestyle, just this mysterious new body shape, which I am trying to embrace but it feels a bit of an imposition! Very interested to hear of other experiences.

As I always feel about the human body, nature doesn't make much sense.

Why don't we just grow breasts after we have a baby. Why have them all the time for no reason whatsoever.

I'm sure I read somewhere that other mammals only grow breasts after they have a baby.

I'm hoping mine don't do this. I've just hit my 40s and I'm already a 32FF...

I know we always want what we can't have, but I was looking at a woman in a wedding dress recently. She had really small, but still shapely boob's.

And I was thinking , wow imagine the freedom of not having to carry all that weight around. And being able to do loads of sports and not be in pain

Of course , women have been told by society that they "should" have big boob's.

So I know if I had small boob's I'd probably be complaining about that.

But big boob's are such a huge amount of work. They're so heavy

Well, I had 32D-E in my youth. Was thin, boobs wider than my frame. They got to 32H in my forties. Finally had a breast reduction and am back to 32C-D. Bliss. No more pain, dresses, blouses and cardigans that don´t fit etc etc

They definitely have a sexual role to play. They wouldn't be such an erogenous zone or so attractive if they weren't. I'm bisexual and love breasts, big or small, saggy or pert. All boobs are beautiful.

Ozanj · 11/10/2024 10:06

It’s hormonal and happened to me during ivf. After I had DS breastfeeding for 4.5 years brought my cup size down but I’m still bigger than I was.

MiracleIfItGrows · 11/10/2024 10:08

No, mine are still small but my bum has got bigger.

outforawalkbiatch · 11/10/2024 10:10

Mine have always been big (DD at 12) and haven't really changed since my 20s
Been a 34K for years

Yes, but other mammals are able to attract mates without breasts!

Female humans are very unusual in that we have breasts permanently. We are the only mammals that do this.

I copied this from online

"Female humans are the only mammals which permanently develop breasts at puberty; all other mammals develop their mammary tissue during the latter period of pregnancy; ."

I also know many women who are completely flat chested, but beautiful.

They have no breasts at all. And they have no problem attracting men. So boob's are not just there to attract men. Men are definitely attracted to women who have no breasts at all.

Mine have gone up and down like a blinking magic act my whole life! I used to go up 2 cup sizes on my period to a 34DD; when I was pregnant I needed a J cup, and after breastfeeding they were like pitta breads - long, flat and easily folded in half.

Post menopause they’ve actually gone back to being a nice size and shape for the first time in years - quite full and perky, which I’m pleased about, and which compensates slightly for the crisp-packet vag and suddenly expanded waistline. Gotta take the wins where you find them I suppose. Sigh.

suburburban · 11/10/2024 10:18

Yes I'm the same with expanding boobs as my mum is

I'm quite small framed

Lentilweaver · 11/10/2024 10:18

I preferred being completely flat chested, as I was until about 42. I don't like having boobs.

We are the only mammal that is bipedal though...so one of the evolutionary origins thoughts is that obvious breast development in humans can act to attract males more because they are more readily apparent than in other mammals where breast tissue is less immediately visible, and where other cues may be more important.

But obviously this is hardly a comprehensive answer, especially as we're talking about increased development of breasts as reproductive years are coming to an end.

Yeah it's interesting..

The female body is a world of it's own.

It's very common for breasts to get bigger in menopause. I know you aren't menopausal yet, so assuming it's peri probably makes sense.

suburburban · 11/10/2024 10:22

Is there any way to drop a size again?

Mine seem to go up a cup size every 10 years or so

CeeJay81 · 11/10/2024 10:23

I hope this happens to me lol. I'm all bum, so wouldn't mine a pair to balance me out!

Positivenancy · 11/10/2024 10:25

Nope, mine are the exact same as they have been since I got to the grand old age of 15. I am now 39 and I’ve had two children. I breastfeed for 1 year each. I’m still amazed they are the exact same. 😂

Thats Interesting about the bipedal part.

Yeah it doesn't make much sense from a reproductive point of view that our breasts become bigger coming up to menopause, just when we can't have children anymore.

So maybe our breasts become bigger in peri menopause, and menopause - simply because the hormone system changes in some way.

I'd love to try small breasts for a week!

Now I think about it, it's just the heavy weight, that I hate about having huge breasts.

They're so heavy to carry around. I'm 5 foot 3. They make it harder for me to walk, to run.

And I always think, they're so pointless,! They have no use whatsoever, and I have to carry them round all the time.

Yeah breasts are nice for other people. As they are sexualised.

But they are often not nice for the person that has them.

For example if we see a woman with big. breasts, we may think "wow, she has nice big breasts".

We dont think "she probably has back ache" "she probably finds it hard to run" "she's uncomfortable when she lies down".

I'm 38 GG now and can't see to cut my toenails any more as they really get in the way.

Started as 32A as teenager and just kept getting bigger. 😱

I'd love my chest to be smaller so I could wear tops that don't make me look like I have a shelf under my chin.

Menopause definitely didn't help. 🙄
