Bigger boob's as you get older

Has this happened to anyone else?

Im 40. I've stayed at pretty much the same weight that I always have been.

But my boob's have gotten so much bigger in the last two years. They are huge. Im all boob!

I've never had children so it's not to do with breastfeeding. Is it something to do with perimenopause? I wish I knew what goes on in our hormones!

Mine have ballooned as well. I assumed it was the HRT, but maybe not.

I'd love to try small breasts for a week!

Now I think about it, it's just the heavy weight, that I hate about having huge breasts.

They're so heavy to carry around. I'm 5 foot 3. They make it harder for me to walk, to run.

And I always think, they're so pointless,! They have no use whatsoever, and I have to carry them round all the time.

I bet you get plenty of male attention though! I tell you what, I'll swap for a week lol. I'm also 5'3.

Compash · 11/10/2024 10:43

Another one who never had children and seems to have got bigger post-meno, hmm... 🤔

Though I wonder if it's not that they've grown so much as changed density - they're not so tightly held together with youthful collagen or whatever. Sure it's hormonal, when I went sober a few years back they were definitely less swollen and sore (alcohol is so oestrogenic).

The male attention I used to get was not from respectful, quality men; rather, the objectifying 'cartoon wolf' variety, tongue out and arooga noises... Now I just look matronly... annoying, because the rest of me is still relatively slim and I keep active and eat proper.

I wouldn't say I get loads of male attention. But I do dress to cover them up as much as I can.

I always get attention from the same few men.

For example i work with a team of people.

One of the men always talks to my breasts. He never looks me in the eyes.

The other men don't do this.

So it's usually the same few men that do it.

It definitely never makes me feel good in any way

Still as flat chested at 50 as I’ve always been🤷🏻‍♀️

Same

It's very common for breasts to get bigger in menopause. I know you aren't menopausal yet, so assuming it's peri probably makes sense.

Ooh I've never heard of this, I really hope this happens to me!
Went from a B all adulthood to prob now A/AA post breastfeeding, would love to go back to how I was. Mid 40's now, no sign of menopause yet, tell me there's hope for me!

RaraRachael · 11/10/2024 10:56

Thank goodness I'm not the only person this has happened to! I was always a size 12 with 36BB boobs.

Now I'm still size 12 but they're a massive 36GG. I've no idea what happened but I absolutely hate them. In photos I look very dumpy because of them. I'd love to get them reduced by seemingly they can only go down 2 cup sizes so they'd still be very big.

Every night when I undress for bed or a shower I actually feel depressed when I look at these monstrous things 😓

Back21970 · 11/10/2024 11:00

Yes, I’m on HRT and definitely up a cup size at least over the last few years when I am roughly the same weight - doesn’t help that I am a bit lop sided either as I am an H cup for one and a G on the other.

I used to be a 32F and thought that was huge.

I would love to be a perky D cup but could never face surgery - know a few folk that have and although they are delighted and look amazing the recovery was brutal.

Heard that changing your dressings is the worst part, I’m wincing even thinking about it!

Big boobs when you are older is not attractive or sexy at all in my opinion - It just limits your clothing choices and looks matronly to me.

Lentilweaver · 11/10/2024 11:02

I suppose I should be grateful I am only a C cup, up from an A cup.

Yeah it's like having two big growths on your chest.!

I just look at my body in the mirror and think

"How is this useful?"

It's like carrying around two massive protrusions which have no use whatsoever. They just slow me down and make my life difficult . My back hurts.

And there is no exercise I can do to change their shape. I'm quite into fitness and I do exercises to tone up my arms and legs.

Like if I want to get my arms to be more muscly, I can do exercise. I can't do anything about my breasts to help them or change their shape. I don't want to get surgery as I've heard too many horror stories.

I feel sad! Big breasts are painful

I’m 40 next year and my boobs have gone from a very perky 34DD in my 20s/early 30s to a 34E after dc1. At my biggest, they went to a 36F after having dc2.

I’m currently a 34F. I’ve been breastfeeding for pretty much 5 years straight, so it’s not really a surprise!

They are not as full or perky as they once were, but considering they have fed my babies for this amount of time - I’ve made peace with that😆

Doubled in size. It is in order to create a handy shelf to rest your dinner on as you age

... and to wedge your book in while reading... don't forget that (I thoroughly recommend trying it if you haven't already).

Roundthemoon · 11/10/2024 11:24

My breasts are ridiculous. I can fit into a size 10 trousers.

I have to wear a size 18 -20 top.

I think if my back pain gets any worse, I may have to look into getting a reduction. Even though I'm scared of it. It might be elbetter for my health overall

widelegenes · 11/10/2024 11:32

My boobs haven't changed at all.
I am 54 - a few months post-menopausal.
Same weight as I've always been.

I appear to be inert.

OrangeCorduroy · 11/10/2024 11:35

I've noticed that mine deflate when I have a break from HRT and fill out when I start again or have increased the dose 😂

Attelina · 11/10/2024 11:36

Not bigger but softer. I became a C cup after breast feeding and they've stayed the same. Im lucky they are round and high so still look pert but they are definitely softer.

I didn't take HRT when I went through the menopause and I've never been on the pill so don't know if that is relevant.

Attelina · 11/10/2024 11:39

I've never put on weight so that may be why mine have not increased in size.

YourFunMember · 11/10/2024 11:39

It happened to my mum and if it happens to me I’ll be having reduction. I’m an E as it is and she was always a DD and now a G.

DJSteves · 11/10/2024 11:42

I was flat chested all through my 20's and early 30's. I've acquired a great DD rack in my 40's.

cavalier · 11/10/2024 11:51

I’m glad it’s not just me 😂😂 it’s horrendous .. have to lose weight … post meno and the sugar cravings are terrible 😞 but I’m a walker fanatic and love Zumba so it helps …

suburburban · 11/10/2024 10:22

Is there any way to drop a size again?

Mine seem to go up a cup size every 10 years or so

God, mine are faster than that.

At 18 I was an A, at 20 a 30B, by the time I was 25 I was a D cup, I'm a G now in my 40s.

It's rubbish. I'm hoping that losing lots of weight might help.

MouseofCommons · 11/10/2024 11:56

No. Exactly the same after two dcs and menopause. Still have ballerina boobs. They are very practical tbh.

Waitingfordoggo · 11/10/2024 12:02

No, mine definitely haven’t got bigger. It surprises me that people are saying it happened to them at peri/menopause because one would expect the loss of oestrogen to have the opposite effect.

This is interesting. My DD is 19 and has very little breast tissue at all. She is very small and slight, and has previously had an eating disorder (though is currently doing very well on that front). She gets a bit depressed about her boobs and it affects her confidence. I had assumed the size she’s at now is set as obviously she has finished puberty, but interesting to think there could be further changes.

Mine grew when I went on the pill and again when I had babies, but DD currently has no plans to go on the pill or to have babies. I realise that sounds contradictory but she is into women so no need for the pill, and doesn’t see herself having a baby.
