To be disgusted by the Deafening Silence of Celebrities in the wake of Diddy allegations?

I can't be the only one who's deeply troubled by the silence from certain A-list celebrities following the recent allegations against Sean Combs aka Diddy. It's been weeks since the news broke, and the lack of response from some of his closest associates in the industry is, quite frankly, disturbing.

Let's talk about Jay-Z and Beyoncé, for instance. These two have been thick as thieves with him for years. Countless collaborations, public appearances, and even vacations together. And now? Radio silence. Not even a peep about condemning the alleged actions or distancing themselves from him. It's baffling.

Ashton Kutcher is another one who's keeping silent. Given his vocal stance against human trafficking and exploitation, you'd think he'd be the first to speak up. But nope, nothing.

Now, I want to tread carefully when it comes to Usher and Justin Bieber. There's been speculation about their own experiences, and if they were indeed victims themselves, I absolutely respect their right to process this privately. No one should be forced to relive trauma or speak out if they're not ready.

But for those who weren't victimised? Their silence is deafening. How hard is it to release a statement saying, "I don't condone these actions" or "I had no knowledge of these alleged crimes"? Anything would be better than this awkward void.

I'm honestly shocked that there hasn't been more public backlash against these silent celebrities. In an era where "cancel culture" can be triggered by a misplaced tweet, how are they getting a free pass? Having your longtime friend and associate arrested on such serious charges, and you can't even muster up a word of condemnation? It's beyond disappointing.

What do you all think? Am I being too harsh, or is this silence truly inexcusable? Should we, as consumers and fans, be demanding more accountability from these public figures?

I’m not getting into an ignorant duscussion about ‘rap’ with people that don’t really know or understand the music or culture. Saying all rap is misogynistic and criminal minded is like saying ‘rock and roll is the devil’s music’.

It’s a huge genre spanning decades, it isn’t by default misogynistic or violent. Some of it is, lots of it isn’t.

I think this case tells us more about men and specifically rich, powerful men than it does about any genre of music.

LBFseBrom · 02/10/2024 03:33

I agree with HillsNValleys.

Haven’t RTFT but yeah I agree with this too

Is Denzel a rapper?

I was uncomfortable with the prosecution lawyer (who has asked for more people to come forward and has 120 accusers)

But doing a press conference and saying we will all be shocked by the names, it firmly put the whole case into entertainment rather than asl serious legal case. The prosecution shouldn't be courting the press and trying to become TV stars.

I presume they mean Denzel Washington. Which I really hope isn’t true.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 02/10/2024 09:08

So do I. I was hoping my age meant I'd missed a rapper called Denzel.

I agree with the post above , and we must not put celebrities on a pedal stool, but there are certain celebs who I will be more disappointed about.

Denzel H Washington is the person in the statement yes. That one shocked me, if true. I say if true, the woman has no reason to lie. She's been talking about this for a long time, and has been trying to bring a case against CPS for years, naming the same names, she was just dismissed until Diddy's arrest and now people are interested in listening to her.

SonicTheHodgeheg · 02/10/2024 13:56

I’m torn on the press conference thing.

I assume that being part of a class action will be cheaper than legal action on your own.

Naively I’m hoping that some settlements will arise from this because the accomplices are wealthy and it would save the stress of going to trial for the victims.

Is this likely to be televised if it goes to trial or will victims’ privacy mean that it isn’t? Iirc OJ was a televised trial but I don’t know if it varies by state or the accusations? As it involves minors, I hope that it’s not an internet circus like Depp vs Heard.

The promise of drip feeding the accomplices was tacky.

Cuba Gooding jnr has previously been implicated.
He allegedly attended Diddy’s parties and made advances to another man

Puttheneedleontherackets · 02/10/2024 14:28

Is Cuba gay? Just reading up on him and there were some allegations against women a few years back

FOJN · 02/10/2024 16:18

If it's the Buzzbee press conference you're refering to, they are not bringing a class action, they will be individual lawsuits. I think they said so at the press conference.

Well this is getting more and more sinister by the day!

Because this is the tip of the ice berg- he’s the only one to have been caught they are all at it. Look up jaguar wright on you tube.

People are even saying Jlos divorce to Ben Afleck is part of it, but how 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have read that jlo was at and actively participated in these parties. Her and diddy were very close years ago.
Ben has been advised to seperate from her due to the potential of her appearance on diddys party tapes. ALLEGEDLY engaging in sexual activities with minors.

FOJN · 02/10/2024 16:43

Steve Harvey's wife filed for divorce on the day Diddy was arrested and Jay Z has apparently met with both a criminal and divorce lawyer.

Some marriages may end as a consequence of the Diddy revelations but some may be trying to divide assets to protect them. Only time will tell.

Puttheneedleontherackets · 02/10/2024 16:49

@Outnumberedmummy2022 Jlo was??! Boys or girls, this is crazy

That is shocking!!

Just think too, if the names are true, and I don't doubt Jaguar ever, those women are mothers now and can you imagine how they'd feel now if it was their kids there!

Demonhunter · 02/10/2024 17:22

My concern and interest in this, is the fact that if people involved aren't exposed and face punishment, it sets a precedent and how many more kids is this happening to as we speak, in other cover ups. We know the amount of immigrant kids that go missing over there and one's in the system that can be classed as runaways. It doesn't matter where anyone is from, everyone should be outraged and kicking up a stink for kids who have zero chance of defending themselves.

I agree! I see it was mentioned up thread that even the CPS was allegedly involved by supplying children! It’s sickening.
I remember reading Roman Farrow’s book Catch and Kill about the Harvey Weinstein scandal. It was a shocking read and a massive eye opener into how corrupt the entertainment world can be. And then to read all of this about what’s going on now is just heartbreaking and shocking to say the least

Puttheneedleontherackets · 02/10/2024 17:44

Yes, but who is this woman on YouTube and how would she know

Outnumberedmummy2022 · 02/10/2024 17:48

It’s horrific isn’t it. I’m not sure of the sex I can’t read about it anymore. The “baby oil was found not for lube purposes but so the children couldn’t escape’ knocked me

Outnumberedmummy2022 · 02/10/2024 17:50

She is called jaguar wright. P diddy offered to sign her I believe years ago. And after she saw what she did she pulled away and has been trying to put them all for years
