To be disgusted by the Deafening Silence of Celebrities in the wake of Diddy allegations?

I can't be the only one who's deeply troubled by the silence from certain A-list celebrities following the recent allegations against Sean Combs aka Diddy. It's been weeks since the news broke, and the lack of response from some of his closest associates in the industry is, quite frankly, disturbing.

Let's talk about Jay-Z and Beyoncé, for instance. These two have been thick as thieves with him for years. Countless collaborations, public appearances, and even vacations together. And now? Radio silence. Not even a peep about condemning the alleged actions or distancing themselves from him. It's baffling.

Ashton Kutcher is another one who's keeping silent. Given his vocal stance against human trafficking and exploitation, you'd think he'd be the first to speak up. But nope, nothing.

Now, I want to tread carefully when it comes to Usher and Justin Bieber. There's been speculation about their own experiences, and if they were indeed victims themselves, I absolutely respect their right to process this privately. No one should be forced to relive trauma or speak out if they're not ready.

But for those who weren't victimised? Their silence is deafening. How hard is it to release a statement saying, "I don't condone these actions" or "I had no knowledge of these alleged crimes"? Anything would be better than this awkward void.

I'm honestly shocked that there hasn't been more public backlash against these silent celebrities. In an era where "cancel culture" can be triggered by a misplaced tweet, how are they getting a free pass? Having your longtime friend and associate arrested on such serious charges, and you can't even muster up a word of condemnation? It's beyond disappointing.

What do you all think? Am I being too harsh, or is this silence truly inexcusable? Should we, as consumers and fans, be demanding more accountability from these public figures?

@MrsTerryPratchett very good point, I may start streaming too - Eminem and Ice Cube have also been vocal

They’ll have been advised by lawyers/PRs to stay silent on this topic I suppose.

What is Beyoncé and her husband alleged to have done? Other than been in his social circle.

With Epstein, only Ghislaine Maxwell was ever sent down. Foul as she is, that’s not right. I wonder if a woman will carry the can for this scandal.

We should remember who does say something and make sure they know. I've downloaded both 50 Cent's music and Dione Warwick's. Speak out? Get my business.

Eminem, too.

I’m uncomfortable in general about people passing comment publicly on allegations before there’s been a conviction. It seems more and more common that allegations of sexual misconduct/crime are launched into the public domain and reported as gospel. The alleged offender is tried and convicted in the press. This can lead to criminal cases being scuppered or even not getting off the ground in the first place. Not very satisfactory for any alleged victims, who also often end up having their character picked apart in the press. Other public figures chiming in with their twopence worth are irrelevant.

I do not give a toss either way about Sean Coombs. He, like many other fabulously rich, powerful, successful men who’ve been told they are super talented and can do whatever they want to anyone they want will have treated hordes of young, beautiful women like disposable tissues. At best he’s treated (grudgingly) willing participants hoping for a career boost like utter shit and made them feel like shit. At worst he’s committed criminal sexual assault against many of them. These people have such a warped view of reality (do you listen to the misogynistic lyrics?) they think this is normal behaviour.
But I don’t think it’s for celebrities to chip in before legal proceedings. Cynically, they may make some kind of virtue signalling comment but only if the offender is not part of their tribe!

WhyDoesItAlways · 29/09/2024 21:45

Anyone who was involved or even Judy complicit in their silence would be well advised to keep very quiet right now.

Anyone not involved could be at risk of being sued if they say anything.

Once whatever legal proceedings PD is facing are over I'm pretty sure there will still be silence over this as people carry on with their lives pretending they had nothing to do with it as per most of Epsteins mates.

Monicaaa · 29/09/2024 21:46

@BESTAUNTB
Jay Z, Beyonce, Will Smith and J Lo are accused of being more involved than just attending parties or being his friend.

Saw a clip of Jaguar Wright talking, she is clearly very anti Diddy et al, but she made an interesting point, she basically said people should question why 50 Cent is doing this, she implies he is creating a vacancy he can fill and people shouldn't assume he will be any better than Diddy or Jay Z. No idea if she is right, but did find it interesting

@UmbrellaEllaEllaElla exactly but I wish they would all lose their followers as a result of this as it's completely wrong.

If I had a best mate that was arrested for a crime I'd say SOMETHING.

It's safe to say I won't attend a Beyoncé concert again

Would you truly just ditch your mate no questions asked if they were accused of something terrible? I mean SURELY you wouldn’t be friends with them if you had any suspicion they were capable of doing those things. If any of my friend were accused of something so heinous I’d be in utter disbelief so would of course hear them out and be supportive (the moment I suspected anything might indeed be true of course I’d be out straight away)

so either they don’t believe (or are hoping against hope that the allegations are false)…or they knew, yet we’re still mateys with him. Either way making any kind of statement would be difficult.

phoenixrosehere · 29/09/2024 21:53

I’m not going to assume and judge people because they are silent.

I actually think it’s smart. People have already made up their minds just by seeing celebrities photographed at his parties from over a decade ago.

It is possible that things could have been going down at parties without others’ knowledge or they left the parties before something did happen. Easily could have heard rumours, but thought they were just that without evidence to back them up.

If people want to decide to stop following certain celebs because they’re silent, that is their prerogative, but until there is actual proof and not assumptions, rumours, and hearsay, I rather wait and see.

Tbh, I doubt most will lose followers anyway unless there is strong evidence and proof of illegal activity so heinous that they lose all standings.

Plenty of celebs that have committed felonies still have careers.

SonicTheHodgeheg · 29/09/2024 21:54

Their lawyers have probably told them to keep quiet. Diddy is in the same prison that Epstein was so I suspect that many are hoping that he meets the same fate so that they can remain invisible like Epstein’s client lists. Speaking out and admitting knowing could backfire and make them look like Prince Andrew.

offyoujollywelltrot · 29/09/2024 21:56

When you have enough money, you can silence anyone you want to with extravagance and threats.

A lot of giants are about to fall. The silence will either be paid for, or because their lawyers told them to shut the fuck up and be angelic.

A lot of women have been horribly brutalised at the hands of that man, but we are going to hear a fair amount of accounts from men too. It's just going to be harder for them to talk about, and the fallout is going to be phenomenal.

Extremely brutal all round.

Edingril · 29/09/2024 21:57

Maybe if people weren't so obsessed with celebrities and their lives would be better for victims? So basically what you are saying is you want the gossip, not everything that happens in life is in public thank goodness

I think people that obsessed with celebrity gossip should have a long hard look at themselves and what is missing in their life

Rewis · 29/09/2024 21:58

Are we really suprised about Ashton Kutcher? 🤨

SemperIdem · 29/09/2024 22:00

Jay-Z and Beyoncé in particular, never comment or issue statements on anything. This will be no different.

notaurewhatusername · 29/09/2024 22:01

@Devonshiregal have you seen the Cassie assault tape? Yes I'd have a hard time being friends with someone after seeing that

Jamie Foxx's family have spoken out and alleged that the reason he was in hospital under mysterious circumstances was because he was poisoned by Diddy.

Wait, what? When was that?

Commonsense22 · 29/09/2024 22:06

Monicaaa · 29/09/2024 21:12

Well given that Jay Z and Beyonce are also being accused by 50 Cent of being collaborators, they are not likely to be raising their head above the parapet atm

There's a saying about when you get close to great men (or women) you realise they're not that great. Everytime someone is hero-worshipped, the writing is almost on the wall. I've been wincing at the Queen B narrative for years, dreading for something like this to come out. I guess it's maybe happening now.

The problem is people are so emotionally invested, they can't ever quite believe the truth (like the Michael Jackson story).

Anyway we'll see, as always I hope to be wrong.

SonicTheHodgeheg · 29/09/2024 22:07

I agree with a pp that being photographed at a Diddy party doesn’t mean that you saw or did anything unacceptable. If you issue a statement then future interviews will be dominated by Diddy parties when your job is to promote a movie or whatever project that you’re paid to be a part of.

I think that there will be quite a few people hoping that they won’t be asked to testify for or against a man with a reputation for violence and unlimited resources.

SonicTheHodgeheg · 29/09/2024 22:09

Would public people making statements affect the ability to have a fair trial ? Maybe people are waiting to see who else will fall with Diddy?

candlewhickgreen · 29/09/2024 22:10

It's not surprising at all. Imagine how many people are involved either directly or indirectly. He's been doing this for years and he hasn't been particularly discreet.

Anyone who speaks out could be sued or ostracised or even lose lucrative deals and there are rumours he's dangerous.

It's known that celebrities were at his 'freak outs' and I doubt no one knew about how he treated his girlfriend. Staff after all watched it on CCTV and didn't call the police and that's just one incident.

In the end, it's the same old story. A rich, very powerful man has been abusing women (and men) for years and everyone turned a blind eye. They're all guilty of colluding with him and we all know that.

HRTQueen · 29/09/2024 22:11

I am sure a number of people are in regular contact with their lawyers at present and keeping their heads down

This is how it works. Remember George Clooney being shocked about Harvey Weinstein 🙄 kept his head down for a while until it’s all blown over

Cerealkiller4U · 29/09/2024 22:11

I’ve followed Jaguar wright for years. Everything she’s ever said has come true

she says jay Z is worse than diddy and to expect some news about him soon…..I’m 99.99999% certain she’s telling the truth and one of the only ones telling the truth.

comedycentral · 29/09/2024 22:11

The ones closest have probably been legally advised not to speak out publicly about this. It can jeopardise a trial through contempt of court or put people in the firing line for libel cases. You also don't know what their involvement is, they could also be perpetrators or acted unlawfully in some way.

Obeseandashamed · 29/09/2024 22:15

Jay Z met Beyoncé when she was underage... There's a clip of him admitting it. There are also lots of question marks around Kris Jenners bf/husband and the whole kardashians involvement too. PD'a ex-wife Kim Porter died under strange circumstances and Corey Gamble was first on the scene then too.
