I know, without having to open them, that I will be bored or irritated by threads about:

  • Parking (why do people find this interesting?)
  • Anything involving a diagram
  • Anything describing someone in the thread title as a narcissist
  • Anything about Brexit
  • Any thread in which someone describes themselves as “fuming” (or fumming)
  • Weddings or hen nights. Discussion about the etiquette of having children at weddings makes me want to put myself in front of a firing squad
  • Most of the trans related threads (though I think there are some important discussions)

I normally open them anyway 🤣. Anyone else?

Divorces - I find them boring and also so sad to read about

Inslopia · 27/09/2024 16:27

Anything to do with driving particularly on the motorway

Anything legal

Both topics attract an inordinate amount of bullshit.

God yes.

Trans threads because I’m in the minority in that I support trans rights so the threads really trigger me!

skippy67 · 27/09/2024 16:29

Any thread that starts with "was this racist?"

Divorce can be a happy thing. It was for me. I agree that threads can be quite painful.

The endless moaning about how mean MN has become nowadays.

GreenWheat · 27/09/2024 16:29

Cyclists
Anything trans or gender related, especially if it involves public toilets
VAT on private school fees

bergamotorange · 27/09/2024 16:31

Parking threads are a pleasure, and I like a good diagram.

The worst threads are made-up ones about the government. They are tedious.

username4214 · 27/09/2024 16:31

Anything about private education
Anything about class
Anything about taste
Navel gazing
Whimsical observations
Advice on being a doormat
Advice on how to deal with the result of lax parenting
Questions where the answers are easy to find
Benefits bashing
Man bashing

Thepeopleversuswork · 27/09/2024 16:33

@username4214

Interesting. What do you mean by “Advice on being a doormat”?

OP posts:
GeraniumLeaves · 27/09/2024 16:34

Anything to do with bad / noisy neighbours. I’ve dealt with these issues and just reading about other people going through it brings it all back. Not triggering as in real trauma, obviously, but just depressing. I also find myself getting unreasonably (and pointlessly wound up) when people defend noise.

AgentProvocateur · 27/09/2024 16:34

Any one that’s about someone getting a call from an unknown number or a knock on the door that they didn’t answer, and then ask MN who it could have been 😂 Followed by hundreds of posts agreeing that they don’t answer if they don’t know in advance who it is. (Probably the same people who post to say they have no friends )

DadJoke · 27/09/2024 16:34

Topics where the OP just needs to politely say no to someone and it's done and dusted, are beginning to wear me down.

Elderberrier · 27/09/2024 16:35

Anything that says ‘is this disgusting’ or ‘how often do you change bed sheets/pants/pjs/clean your children etc.

For the record, @Scutterbug I support trans rights despite not agreeing that men who think they are the opposite sex belong in women’s spaces or should take titles belonging to women. I and most women with these concerns would fight against any actual discrimination of people who use the term trans. There is a conflict of rights and both can’t have their way.

GeraniumLeaves · 27/09/2024 16:37

Anything about class

Oh, yes - these too! I used to find them entertaining, but actually they are the most predictable and therefore dull threads out there. All the lazy stereotypes come out to play.

Thepeopleversuswork · 27/09/2024 16:37

Oh and my all time pet hate:

People who hate “people” and wrongly attribute this to them being “introverted”.

And in the same vein, people who find friends “too much drama” and would rather spend all their time with “my little family”. Cringe.

ThatTealViewer · 27/09/2024 16:39

‘I think he’s cheating’ or anything to do with porn. I find them deathly dull and a generally very sad.

Anything even remotely trans related. I simply cannot.

GardenOfficer · 27/09/2024 16:40

Israel/Palestine because I strongly support Israel.

I love a garden fence, parking, driving, neighbour, flatmate or landlord dispute thread. Especially when there’s a diagram.

Buffypaws · 27/09/2024 16:40

YABU. parking threads are the best thing ever.

FinallyMovingHouse · 27/09/2024 16:40

LOVE a good parking thread and cheeky NDN thread. Hate trans threads, as I support trans rights and apparently I can't possibly do that and still support women at all.

God, yes. Some people seem to think that introversion and social awkwardness are the same thing. They get very cross when you point out that isn’t the case.

I like a neighbour dispute one but find parking ones deathly boring…

Fuming ones are the best

Inslopia · 27/09/2024 16:43

Oh yeah the VAT on private education, some of those threads have put me off even considering private. Not good PR!
