I know, without having to open them, that I will be bored or irritated by threads about:

  • Parking (why do people find this interesting?)
  • Anything involving a diagram
  • Anything describing someone in the thread title as a narcissist
  • Anything about Brexit
  • Any thread in which someone describes themselves as “fuming” (or fumming)
  • Weddings or hen nights. Discussion about the etiquette of having children at weddings makes me want to put myself in front of a firing squad
  • Most of the trans related threads (though I think there are some important discussions)

I normally open them anyway 🤣. Anyone else?

Weird sex ones

Allfur · 27/09/2024 17:49

Moaning about the weather

Weird sex ones

I never read those. I always imagine it's pervy blokes using a sock puppet.

AmeliaEarache · 27/09/2024 17:52

People who are fumin’ or those walls of text without paragraphs or punctuation are the ones I tend to avoid.

I love a diagram or a CF neighbour rant.

I do hate it when people say Mumsnet posters are against trans rights. It’s bullshit in the majority of cases.

There’s a world of difference between opposing rights for trans people and understanding that being female is a biological state and sometimes that is important. You can support trans people’s right to live without discrimination and express themselves through whatever gendered presentation suits them best and still believe in single sex exemptions where needed.

GreyCarpet · 27/09/2024 17:53

I know I'm going to be irritated by anything where the OP suggests they've been too kind, too nice or describes themselves as a people pleaser as though it's a desirable trait.

Suz8 · 27/09/2024 17:53

The hourly SAHM v working mum ones - I used to read them and even engage until I realised it's the same posters with the same arguments almost verbatim.

Teacher bashing ones - they usually have a parent who doesn't even acknowledge their little darling just might be being economical with the truth.

Obesity ones - again, I've noticed the same usernames being fatist and obsessive when it comes to this topic and their comments actually being quite enlightening and suggesting they might have a different kind of issue with food.

Precious First Born ones where just the in-laws aren't allowed to see or hold them until they're a few months old.

Parking ones - so boring.

Any thread that starts with "was this racist?"

Or ‘would you be offended?’ if you need to
be advised to be offended…🙄

Anything starting with ‘would you report this GP/teacher/HV?’ etc….

GreyCarpet · 27/09/2024 17:53

👍🏻

GreyCarpet · 27/09/2024 17:56

Any thread where the OP states that they "had a little cry".

MingingTiles · 27/09/2024 17:57

Argh the class ones. The amount of forelock tugging that goes on on this site is a wonder to behold.

People being weirdly inflexible about social occasions and invitations- not going to your best friend’s wedding because she asked for money instead of a gift etc. often featuring “No a complete sentence” and similar sentiments.

"I bet you all regret voting Labour NOW, don't you".

No. I do not. Fuck off.

I regret not voting Labour. I didn't at the time because of Gaza. And I was worried they were heading too right wing for my tastes. But I've been pleasantly surprised at the common sense with their policies so far.

StormingNorman · 27/09/2024 17:59

Can you see a line?

Can’t be arsed to look. Sorry.

Competitive cleaning ones are awful

No, I love those. Just for the laugh. Same with the competitive under eating ones.

GreyCarpet · 27/09/2024 18:00

I lose patience with the Am I Pregnant threads, because no-one on the internet can tell you that.

Quite.

Or the ones asking complete strangers to guess the 'gender' of their foetus.

Post it in pregnancy if you must but no one else knows and no one else gives a shit.

Berlinlover · 27/09/2024 18:00

Anything to do with Covid
Grown women whining because their partner hasn’t proposed
Any thread with the word loose in the title when they mean lose

Abitofalark · 27/09/2024 18:01

Threads that are 'posting for traffic' or 'x topic (lighthearted)'.
Thread titles that are clickbait or cryptic or coy ('this' or an expletive) or the opening chapter of a novel.

DemonicCaveMaggot · 27/09/2024 18:03

Anything to do with cruelty to animals or on the subject of Donald Trump.

Cruelty to Donald Trump is another matter though.

I also avoid the 'Americans are all rude, grabby, beggars' threads that usually kick off around Halloween. Americans have a distinct etiquette around trick or treat that British people totally ignore.

Ugh breast vs formula feeding ones. They're so fucking judgemental and horrible

Yes agree with this!

tuvamoodyson · 27/09/2024 18:06

Any thread where the OP asks if she’s being unreasonable, when she absolutely isn’t, everyone assures her she isn’t and they say ‘oh! I hesitated to post this! I thought you were all going to say I was unreasonable!!’ No you didn’t…immediately hidden.

BlueEyedLeucy · 27/09/2024 17:42

Anything about ‘gaslighting’…there are a lot of people who a) use this incorrectly and b) don’t seem to appreciate that being a dick doesn’t need a special name to be bad.

Grey rocking

And parking/neighbour ones are boring to me.

Wtf is grey rocking?

magnoliasweets · 27/09/2024 18:07

Posts where they name people A, B, C etc. they always confuse me. Why can't people just make up some names?? 🤣

TLMTTCSJTT1 · 27/09/2024 18:09

I hate the medical ones, I don't know why lol. When people are in a&e for something trivial and giving constant updates about what professionals have said to them.

Thepeopleversuswork · 27/09/2024 18:09

Grown women whining because their partner hasn’t proposed

Fuck yes. Utterly pathetic. When they are unmarried with four kids and she’s been walking him past jewellery shops for years. Have some self respect.

I over-ride my “kind” settings with these people

OP posts:
Rigatone · 27/09/2024 18:10

She stole my baby name ones.

I hide more than I read to be honest.
