I've heard her put on a weird voice and repeatedly say, 20+ times, Scooby Dooby Doo in said weird voice. Turned off and 10 minutes later went into a shop that had Radio 2 on and she was still doing it. FFS she's paid a fortune for that nonsense and we're paying through the licence fee.

As a millennial, the choice of presenters are obviously for us lot who grew up with these names as the mainstream to shuffle over and leave Radio 1 to the newer Gens. Jokes on them, I couldn’t stand Radio 1 back in the day (Chris Moyles got on my last nerve and then some). I listen to Hits Radio for my local area, their morning show is brilliant on the school run.

The seventh circle of hell? 😂

Yep for sure, along with being forced to watch Claudia sodding Winkleman on a loop😂.

I shared a room with my sister and she set the radio alarm to wake up to his show in the morning. I think I’d sooner have had a dentist wake me up mid root canal…

That’s a bit mean and uncalled for.

Butteredtoast55 · 09/09/2024 19:44

I feel like Sara Cox dials it in on the radio. She's almost like a caricature of herself.
I do like Between The Covers but I rush she'd calm down on the radio and stop trying to be so zany!

Ouch, crossing the line much…

Horses for courses isn't it?! I love Sarah Cox. I have a hellish commute home and she's the only thing that makes it bearable. Feels like having a mate in the car just chittering away to keep me awake and cheerful.

There are a good few DJs I wouldn't choose to listen to... so I don't. It's not hard is it?? Not sure i understand what people get from slagging presenters off here. If someone was spouting all over the Internet that I was shit at my job I'd be devastated. Perhaps it's not that surprising that Zoe is taking some time off.

Gonksmum · 09/09/2024 19:53

Never heard Sara Cox on the radio but she's very good in the book discussion programme Between the Covers, as ButteredToast mentions, and the Back in Time for Tea etc shows.

Putmeinsummer · 09/09/2024 19:54

I read an article once that said Vernon hated women without make up and he refused to look at Tess until she had a full face on so she had to get up early and disappear into a separate bathroom.

Supersoakers · 09/09/2024 20:00

I like her! But I really love Romesh, he has me properly laughing, he’s so genuine and funny.

Vitriolinsanity · 09/09/2024 20:04

Queenofheart · 09/09/2024 17:06

OMG Zoe Ball does my head in ... calls herself Zo, she's only got a three lettered name ffs and says eerrrrrrr every other word, grrrr 😡

And let us not think about the sharp intakes of breath every 3 seconds.

As for the moron (kill me, he bloody is) Ritchie Anderson.

DS and I enjoy counting down from getting in the car to one of them saying "iconic".

Frankly the only thing worse than the both is "Love ya" Scott Mills and the incessant blathering about fucking Preston in the Park.

Yes, I can switch off/over but I'm a long life R2 listener. That said, just today I've finally re progged the car to Chris Evans in the morning.

TheaBrandt · 09/09/2024 20:07

I know it’s controversial but I quite like the Jeremy vine show. Nuala thingy has ruined women’s hour.

oakleaffy · 09/09/2024 20:09

There was another thread just up about a female Comedian where people were saying they didn't like the style of comedy - It was pulled immediately, yet this one criticising another woman is allowed to stand?

Would Sara Cox not be equally upset if she saw this- or is the other comedian's feelings considered more important, @MNHQ

Vitriolinsanity · 09/09/2024 20:14

That being said, I rather like Sara Cox (I know I talk like her but with an Estuary accent) and I've really warmed to Vernon.

I like the bromance between Tony and Dermot on Saturday when they hand over and Romesh is settling in nicely to a slot I loved with Graham and the Claudia.

The jewel in the crown is Rylan. EVERYONE a I know from 25-80 listens to his show and loves him.

HelenWheels · 09/09/2024 20:30

not me, not really keen on rylan, but i have warmed to him

cutiechops · 09/09/2024 20:32

Wish Tony Blackburn and the sounds of the 70’s chap would go too!

Well, seeing as they're both getting on in years (81? 79?)and Jonny Walker has/had cancer you may not have long to wait! I was surprised to hear that Steve Wright would have turned 70 recently if he'd still been with us.

Yes, l love her accent, l just think she’s really funny.Rylan, agree he is the jewel in the crown.I do really miss Paul O’Grady though

greengreyblue · 09/09/2024 20:44

Rylan has no real talent. He’s a nice enough bloke but I don’t feel like he’s a safe pair of hands.

Yes. I tend to stick with the main station as I really like the mix of old and new music.

Whoever chooses the music for the main station does a great job.

I am nearly 60 but I like listening to Absolute Radio because it has a younger feel compared to Greatest Hits or Boom.

Having said that, I really like Greatest Hits on Friday and Saturday nights after 10 when they play soul music from the 80s and 90s.

I also like Jeremy Vine, It helps my afternoon go a bit quicker.

Really dislike when Tina Daheley steps in, i think she is rubbish, it is like she doesn't know what to say, yet they keep bringing her back to stand in.

Good point!

Dolliesdisasterousdayout · 09/09/2024 21:15

I love her and don’t understand the daily mumsnet hatred towards her.

@oakleaffy I’ve reported posts in the past but apparently the Radio 2 djs hatred is allowed.
