I've heard her put on a weird voice and repeatedly say, 20+ times, Scooby Dooby Doo in said weird voice. Turned off and 10 minutes later went into a shop that had Radio 2 on and she was still doing it. FFS she's paid a fortune for that nonsense and we're paying through the licence fee.

is she covering for scott?
i might listen,
cannot stand scott

Agree! I listened to Sara this week when I wouldn’t normally have radio 2 on. She’s lovely, funny, witty and down to earth.

herecomesautumn · 02/07/2025 10:38

Scott is pretty dull, but Cox is just dire. Stupid voices.

Thing is, she plays decent music. Whether that is her choice or the producer, I don't know. The Half Wower is also good. If she only just talked normally instead of the I'm Mad, Me persona, she'd be quite refreshing. I put it on this morning and heard the kid in the car chant lots of times coupled with horn sounds that made me think it was an actual car sounding their horn at me, which isn't good in rush hour traffic is it?

thisismygrumpyface · 02/07/2025 15:29

In a battle between Scott and Sara, I'm afraid it's Sara every time.

piefacedClique · 02/07/2025 19:03

Quite pleased with having someone else in her usual slot now tho!

FrenchandSaunders · 04/07/2025 09:10

The music she's playing in the mornings is much better.

AutumnLeaves1990 · 04/07/2025 10:14

I don't mind her but that segment with the car beeping 🤬🤬🤬🤬

redtrain123 · 04/07/2025 10:17

I prefer her in the afternoon.

YorkshireMedusa · 05/08/2025 17:45

I've just heard a snippet of her show when she was referring to herself as "Sazpants On the Radio", in a fake American accent, she said it was an attempt to sound like a proper DJ. It wasn't it was just her fooling about.

Christ alive. If you don’t like her show just bloody stop listening and then popping up bitching about it!!

ShowOfHands · 05/08/2025 19:20

I agree. You seriously need to let this go op. You don't like her online persona, fair enough. Expending energy repeatedly denigrating her online seems obsessive and nasty.

lotsofpatience · 05/08/2025 19:29

Someone should tell that pathetic woman that being funny and laughable are not the same thing.

Why are you torturing yourself then? Plenty of other stations to listen to 🤦♂️

greengreyblue · 05/08/2025 21:31

She’s great! Very down to earth and just having a laugh Lighten up!

You seriously think I'd tune in? You often hear the radio in other people's cars, houses, in shops etc. it doesn't mean I choose to listen! Also what's with the emojis?

This thread has been resurrected 😁
I can't Stand all the dedications on R2.
"say hello to us on the way to Scotland to see Granny"

"Say hello to my gorgeous hubby Graham who brings me a cup of tea every morning"

"Say hello to my newborn who loves listening every day" etc etc 🥱
I'm from up't road to Sarah so the accent barely registers, but I'm also really fussy about music and have to be in the mood for it, so it's a no no all the way.
Radio 4 on BBC sounds suits me fine 📻

It's not the accent, it's the weird pronunciations of words and repetition like that Scooby-Doo thing and "kids in the car, kids in the car ..."

Thanks I will take it!
Hopefully after 11 months of complaining the OP will find something else to occupy their ire!!

DonnaSummet · 21/08/2025 07:07

She seems to "fake listen" to people when they ring up and then really hurry them up, can be quite awkward

Did you search for this thread just to add yet another disparaging comment about her?

I understand that she's in the public eye and therefore some people feel her looks, personality, accent, background, morals, ethics, speech patterns and cadence and on and on are up for consumption and comment but really, we have a choice. A choice not to listen. A choice not to rip another person apart.

I don't particularly get on with Mandy at work but I accept that I don't need to and get on with my life. I don't publicly berate her, tear her apart and encourage other people to band together and do the same.

YorkshireMedusa · 21/08/2025 09:33

@ShowOfHands Mandy isn't in the public eye. If people put themselves up for public consumption they have to accept they'll receive comments, favourable or not.

The OP was about her repetitively saying the same phrase that is better suited to kids not grown-ups driving home. Not about her looks and morals and many of the other things you mentioned.

you still pay a tv license really why you know paying a tv license and then complaining about the BBC programmers is just ridiculous do yourself a favor save your self cash and stop paying tv licence I never paid for one in my life and refuse to start they came to my door in 2002 and not come near me since and I do watch BBC also get emails from them recommending shows to watch

sigh

I clearly wasn't just talking about your op. Women - and men - in the public eye constantly and consistently have their looks, abilities and personalities criticised and in a public and mass way.

And I could not disagree more. Just because your chosen career path - be it acting, presenting, writing, singing, academia, or anything else -makes you well known, this does NOT justify your own choice to be personal and rude. If a child of mine had a real talent for music or acting and wanted to pursue it, I would NEVER advise them that it was fine and fair for people to target them and publicly disparage them. Again, I'm not necessarily referring just to this thread.

Nothing wrong with not liking or enjoying somebody's work. Nothing wrong with expressing that when appropriate either. But I will never agree that openly and publicly banding together to denigrate somebody is the best choice of behaviour.
