Duvet cover and bottom sheet together or separately?!

OP posts:
NeverEnoughPants · 03/09/2024 09:45

Usually together. Depends what else I've got to wash.

Why is this desperate?

Fimbledore · 03/09/2024 09:45

Why??
I sometimes do and sometimes don't. Makes no odds.

Greyoutside · 03/09/2024 09:45

Together plus pillow cases, why wouldn't you?

Cheeesus · 03/09/2024 09:45

Eh? Wash them all in a wash with things of similar colour. So with the rest of the bedding and a few other bits that will fit in.

Globetrote · 03/09/2024 09:45

Together. Why is this a desperate issue?

MirandaWest · 03/09/2024 09:45

Depends what colours they are and how much other washing is going in to the machine

redskydarknight · 03/09/2024 09:45

Depends on their colour and material?

I wouldn't wash white sheets with a dark navy duvet cover, for example.

Sillybillypoopoomummy · 03/09/2024 09:46

depends on how big the bed is! for a single bed I would was the duvet cover and sheet together (do up the duvet so the sheet doesn't go inside). for bigger beds I do the duvet cover in one wash, and the sheet and pillowcases in another.

JaceLancs · 03/09/2024 09:46

I wash bottom sheet, duvet cover and 4 pillowcases together - sometimes with a few other items - I do have an extra large drum washing machine though

Ericsfurryface · 03/09/2024 09:46

Together unless it’s the superking as they won’t both fit in the washing machine. Why are you so desperate to know this.

redtrain123 · 03/09/2024 09:46

All gets chucked In together

MonsteraMama · 03/09/2024 09:47

Why is this desperate 😆

Together, unless as a pp said they're very contrasting colours.

Purplecatshopaholic · 03/09/2024 09:49

Eh? Bit dramatic! Sometimes together, sometimes separately, depending on what else there is. Sky hasn’t fallen in yet…

Septemberalready · 03/09/2024 09:51

Not sure why you are asking.
Is it to do with worrying about over loading the washing machine or is it a hygiene question?

I use a bottom sheet and a top sheet. I think some people just use a bottom sheet. But I definitely wash top sheet, bottom sheet, under sheet ,duvet cover, and pillowcases at the same time. But I have to do it in a few loads.

ohthejoys21 · 03/09/2024 09:52

All together at 60. Why not?

hejsl · 03/09/2024 09:52

Desperate because I’ve just been told that they don’t wash properly when in together and it can also damage the machine as they get wound round together !

OP posts:
FOJN · 03/09/2024 09:54

Separately, but only because they are different colours. I add towels to the cover and pillowcase wash and whites to the fitted sheet wash to make a full load.

endofthelinefinally · 03/09/2024 09:54

Wash everything together but fasten the duvet cover closed so that things don't get inside it.

Thistooshallpass24 · 03/09/2024 09:54

Who told you that? Is it like when your a kid if you swallow chewing gum it "wraps around your heart"?!
Nonsense

CheeseWisely · 03/09/2024 09:54

Separately at the moment because we have a superking where we're renting and it doesn't all fit! Together when it does though! Only reason I'd wash them separately is down to colours / whites.

WhichWallpaper · 03/09/2024 09:54

They all go in the wash together, but I tumble dry thr duvet alone as my anger issues cannot manage it when it's eaten everything in a massive tight soggy ball.

Tittyfilarious · 03/09/2024 09:54

They will wash properly and in 22 years of washing bedding my machine never got damaged

angeldelite · 03/09/2024 09:54

It’s still not a desperate issue, is it?

Anyway, if you have a standard 8kg drum or larger, then your washing machine can easily take a king size duvet cover, sheet and pillow cases.

I wouldn’t add the mattress protector though.

MiddleAgedDread · 03/09/2024 09:55

For the king size bed I wash the duvet cover on a separate wash to the sheet and pillow covers (usually with a couple of other light things thrown in too) because otherwise my washing machine refuses to spin properly. The double set is fine to go in one load though!

BMW6 · 03/09/2024 09:55

The person who told you that absolute nonsense is either on a wind-up or batshit.
