Neighbours have blocked my drive

Emmmm11 · 02/09/2024 20:23

My NDD are having a house warming so they have guests and their car is now partially blocking my drive but there’s no way on as I’d be driving over high curb/front of house gravel and solar lights. I’m on a new build estate so parking isn’t great and I’m now parked outside my house but I’m now double parked with a large car. What would you do?!

I can’t go further down as all parking is taken!

Knock on the door and ask if they can move? Seems like a sensible first port of call?

angelopal · 02/09/2024 20:24

Knock and ask them to move.

ChickenandaCanofCoke · 02/09/2024 20:24

Ask them to move it? Confused

wildthingsinthenight · 02/09/2024 20:25

Knock on the door

Gugl · 02/09/2024 20:25

Just chap the door and ask them to move. Sorry for disturbing but I can’t get on the drive, they probably haven’t realised and will be fine to move it

Ethylred · 02/09/2024 20:25

I would punctuate better.

I would but they will have no where else to go either! They have guests outside and two cars on their drive

Knock and tell them to move…..but you know the score - parking diagram.

That isn't your problem

That sounds like a them problem. Their guests can go park on another street.

Well once you're in your drive can't they park back there if you're not going out again tonight?

Baxdream · 02/09/2024 20:26

Ask them to move, if you're in for the night offer to let them stay there if it's only for a couple hours

StMarieforme · 02/09/2024 20:27

They can just put it back unless you need to go out again?

wildthingsinthenight · 02/09/2024 20:27

Come on Op..stick up for yourself!

That’s there problem to solve, one guest might be leaving soon so it might be a case of they block you in with your permission but it will be gone in the morning, honestly just go ask

ILikeItWhatIsIt · 02/09/2024 20:28

Jesus Christ, these are getting worse

coldcallerbaiter · 02/09/2024 20:28

Hire a wrecking ball or a monster truck. Or ask them to move slightly up.

This.
I’d go round now before they have too much drink taken and ask them in a friendly way to get their guest to move to let you in your drive, then they can park over it if you don’t need out again tonight (or too early in the morning). You might get asked round for the house warming 😀

Didimum · 02/09/2024 20:29

What on earth are you expecting from MN, OP? You want help from being blocked out of your drive but won’t ask your neighbours to move? What advice do you want?

Pantaloons99 · 02/09/2024 20:29

OP seriously! This reminds me of how I used to be....

First as advised very politely but assertively just ask if they can move their car as you can't access your drive. Don't apologise either please OP.

Second - if you're a chronic people pleaser, neighbour and everyone else will shit all over you and that's a guarantee. Set boundaries nicely now.

Do you normally have a problem standing up for yourself?

MartinCrieffsLemon · 02/09/2024 20:31

Pull up your big girl pants and say something

They can either move back behind you (since they aren't on your drive, only blocking the entrance) or can find somewhere else to park as its a them problem
