The 90's one

it's immense, I've watched it a hundred times & it never gets old, the costumes even & i'm aware of the dodgy accents

Near Dark or Let the right one in.

There you go.

Fudgetheparrot · 13/08/2024 02:35

Uhhh no it’s obviously Lost Boys, which also has the best soundtrack

Winona Ryder’s hair is AMAZING in Dracula though

I love BSD too - three of us snuck into it when we were around 14 and I loved it then, and love it now.

annlee3817 · 13/08/2024 04:30

Interview with the Vampire is up there as well

Icedlatteplease · 13/08/2024 04:30

You are absolutely right. Nothing else movie wise has the glorious gothic romance

However....

The new interview with the vampire tv series smashes it no contest.

OnAndOnAndonAgain · 13/08/2024 04:41

Definitely lost boys

ConstantlyFuriosa · 13/08/2024 04:46

I’ve watched and rewatched this so many times and always come away thinking it’s a masterpiece. I don’t even give a shit about Winona or Keanu’s accents, and don’t think Keanu is bad at all in it.

It looks absolutely amazing and even today it seems groundbreaking. The bit where they meet and watch the cinematograph is just stunningly romantic.

As for Gary Oldman, he’s never been sexier than in that scene with his long hair and Beatles specs. And his performance throughout is unbelievable. He should’ve won the Oscar.

It’s a sublime film.

Ozgirl75 · 13/08/2024 05:11

Honestly I actually feel that the film was my sexual awakening (which is slightly troubling 😁) - the combination of Keanu, Winona and Sadie Frost being “taken” and “turned bad” had a lasting impression on me 😆

Behave yourself

It’s not my fault! It’s all the film.

strawberrybarley · 13/08/2024 07:14

It's up there for sure, but Interview with a Vampire tops it for Me!

WetBandits · 13/08/2024 07:46

The Lost Boys is my favourite (and the soundtrack is brilliant!)

Stake Land is also excellent.

ThelmaDinkley · 13/08/2024 07:51

Dust till dawn is the best vampire film hands down. Also love the old hammer films with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. To me he shall always be Dracula.

Sethera · 13/08/2024 07:51

I don't think you can beat the original 1931 Dracula film with Bela Lugosi in the title role.

InfradeadToUltraviolent · 13/08/2024 08:06

Love The Lost Boys, and anything with Christopher Lee, but my guilty fave, in which I am possibly unique, is the original Buffy The Vampire Slayer movie. I hired the VHS one evening when I was about 17 to entertain myself when my parents were out and I enjoyed it so much that when I got to the end I immediately rewound it and watched it all over again.

DH is also a fan, albeit mostly for PeeWee Herman's death scene, and prefers it to the TV show.

GrouchyKiwi · 13/08/2024 08:14

I am also a fan of The Lost Boys.

Bram Stoker's Dracula annoys the hell out of me because it's as much Stoker's novel as North Korea is democratic. My biggest film wish is for a decent adaptation of the book. Sad

So true 😀 It's not a bad film but the title is a complete misnomer.

InfradeadToUltraviolent · 13/08/2024 08:29

I think it's got a lot of the Stoker novel that modern adaptations normally leave out. It's got a lot of other miscellaneous nonsense as well though.

Such a great book.

Devilsmommy · 13/08/2024 08:44

Love bram stokers Dracula but also love queen of the damned. Aaliyah was amazing as the queen of the vampires, really did the book justice

Namerchangee · 13/08/2024 08:46

You’re not wrong OP. It is epic. Saw it on the big screen a while ago and it absolutely blew me away - and I’ve seen it many, many times. It’s a comfort watch for me!

Scorchio84 · 13/08/2024 19:29

I thought it was pretty faithful to Bram Stokers book, it was also probably my sexual awakening too @Ozgirl75

The Lost Boys definitely was, the dark haired one was a an 80's rock sight to behold
I didn't like Interview With a Vampire but maybe I should go back, I love Christian Slater

@Namerchangee I can't believe you saw it in the cinema recently!!! I'd love that
