The 90's one

it's immense, I've watched it a hundred times & it never gets old, the costumes even & i'm aware of the dodgy accents

Willem Defoe & it's hard

Interview with a vampire and queen of the damned have a lot to answer for and yes yes to Stuart Townsend. I think Tom Cruise playing lestat showed his true personality ( I don't trust a man who legally keeps the souls of his ex wives).
I married a man who looks like a vampire, there's a lot to unpack there 😆😆

Lost Boys.

Blade.

From Dusk til Dawn.

plumvioletrose · 14/08/2024 05:14

No mention of Colin Farrell in Fright Night (2011). Totally hot with a nice side order of Tennant, despite the films flaws.

I quite like Cirque du Freak - The Vampires Assistant. Ok, John C. Rielly is not sexy, but he is amusing. I like it because it's a bit weird and different.

Even though it did get weird along the way, Claes Bang made a quite charming visually appealing and interesting Dracula.

Other favourites,
The Lost Boys
Daybreakers
Byzantium
John Carpenter's Vampires
Underworld (1 and 2)
Innocent Blood (film starring Anne Parillaud)
Blade (1 and 2)
Interview with the Vampire
Know we're not supposed to like it but I still like Twilight, even if it's only because it's from a nostalgic time for me.

There's more but I've gone blank now.

My favourite line from Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracular is when Gary Oldman says “The creatures of the night. What sweet music they mi-ake!”.!Classic!

lAnd as far as good looking vampires go.., Aidan Turner in Being Human deserves a mention here!

I think that line comes from the original book - Bela Lugosi also says it in the 1931 film. It is a great line.

Has anyone on this thread seen 'The Hunger'? Is it any good? I have been wondering about watching it (as a Bowie fan and Vampire fan) and this sounds like the right thread to ask!

It's pretty, but it's basically an extended perfume ad.

Worth watching if you're a Bowie fan but be aware that the big sex scene does not involve him.

RolyPolyKitten · 14/08/2024 08:41

So a bit style over substance?
Thanks for the review. I'll keep it on my 'to watch' list but I won't bump it up to the top. 🙂

tennesseewhiskey1 · 14/08/2024 09:19

No. I like Van Helsing as I fancy Hugh Jackman 😂😂

Maryplane · 14/08/2024 09:19

Scorchio84 · 13/08/2024 23:42

wait what? where's the gay context?

OMG watch it again OP!!! 🫣😂

It went right over my head all the times I watched it as a teen. Saw it recently for the first time in many years and could not believe I’d missed the homoeroticism before, it’s not exactly subtle 😂

TheMithrasDirective · 14/08/2024 09:51

Omg, glad to see some love for Near Dark. I recorded it off the telly when I was a teenager and watched it so many times. Would love to see it again, but haven't noticed it on any of the streaming platforms 😕

BSD is excellent. Bless Keanu and his valiant attempt at an accent 😍

VictorBaucherOrSomething · 14/08/2024 09:56

Hi OP I watched this last week for the first time in years and while it was great (although massively 'sexed up' from the novel!) it was a bit cheesy in places and Anthony Hopkins was a bit too creepy in it IMO.

Love Lost Boys!

For me Gary Oldman is the best looking vampire EVER...😍 Worth watching just for him!

I think Big Mo from EastEnders, Kat's nan is his sister in real life.

PonyPatter44 · 13/08/2024 19:56

I could NOT get into What We Do In The Shadows. Tried, really wanted to, couldn't.

Lost Boys is perfect, but so is From Dusk Til Dawn. George Clooney and the tattoo, Tom Savini and the high-velocity codpiece, Cheech Marin on the door, Danny Trejo behind the bar, Salma Hayek as the wickedest woman in the world, and "that fuckin' band"! What's not to love?

Really like the film of what we do in the shadows but the BBC series is contrived and not particularly funny

Needhelp101 · 14/08/2024 12:46

Loving this thread, making some viewing notes!

Recently enjoyed Night Shift with Jamie Foxx, although it wasn't a masterpiece. Snoop Dogg needs to be in more vampire films :)

Renfield was pretty enjoyable too.

ChristmasFluff · 14/08/2024 13:23

I bloody love Bram Stoker's Dracula, and find it SO sad, My absolute favourite is From Dusk Til Dawn though.

Also, I am very fond of the remake of Fright Night, but only because of David Tennant.

VictorBaucherOrSomething · 14/08/2024 15:28

I'm now remembering a video my friend and I rented back in the 90s, about two Vampires who were father and son. It was pretty crap but we fancied the vampires so rented it multiple times 🙈 can't remember what it was called though!

Yeah, but it’s the way Gary Oldman delivers the line that makes all the difference!

Fright Night was savage! Apparently my neighboour Colin Farrell was in the remake but disregard that

If we are talking about the sexiest vampire then it has to be Deacon Frost.

BSD and IWAV were part of my childhood / early teen years so I can't help but love them. Loved from Dusk Till Dawn, until it went all "vampire-y". QT is so sinister and GC is just absolutely beautiful (as is SH)

Oh he is beautiful!

Eric in True Blood takes a lot of beating though

No I found it boring

absolutely love The Lost Boys and Interview with a Vampire (which I didn’t see until last year it’s so good I love Tom Cruise)
