The 90's one

it's immense, I've watched it a hundred times & it never gets old, the costumes even & i'm aware of the dodgy accents

@ConstantlyFuriosa my god he's beautiful in the grey suit! & I love that scene too, it's up there with the part when he jumps out of the box topless! 😍😆

Interview with a vampire at our house

MissFancyDay · 13/08/2024 19:44

Bram Stokers Dracula and Dawn to Dusk here!!

But I have a massive soft spot for Countess Dracula with Ingrid Pitt, it was everything Transylvania should be to my fevered teenage mind haha.

Dracula in general was definitely my sexual awakening, that's bad isn't it. How differently we look at things with our woke (in a good way) minds. Oh well.

Whatineed · 13/08/2024 19:47

"I have crossed oceans of time to find you" has to be one of the most romantic lines I've ever heard. Makes me melt every time.

Plus Monica Bellucci. Plus Anthony Hopkins.

I used to be obsessed with the film in my twenties. I think I'll watch it again this weekend.

Sorenlorrenson · 13/08/2024 19:47

Nope.
What We Do in The Shadows.

Sorenlorrenson · 13/08/2024 19:47

Nope.
What We Do in The Shadows.

I love 'what we do in the shadows' the lame vampires wandering around Wellington trying to find a nightclub is a classic.

My fave is Lost Boys. In terms of Dracula o do like the BBC one but also have a soft spot for the Buffy episode where she stakes Dracula 200 times.

RosieFlamingo · 13/08/2024 19:52

Dead and lovin it is a great spoof dracula film.

SaintHonoria · 13/08/2024 19:56

I can't stand the 1992 version. It's overly stylised and the acting is poor.

Dracula made in 1931 and starting Bela Lugosi is by far the best, even accounting for its age.

PonyPatter44 · 13/08/2024 19:56

I could NOT get into What We Do In The Shadows. Tried, really wanted to, couldn't.

Lost Boys is perfect, but so is From Dusk Til Dawn. George Clooney and the tattoo, Tom Savini and the high-velocity codpiece, Cheech Marin on the door, Danny Trejo behind the bar, Salma Hayek as the wickedest woman in the world, and "that fuckin' band"! What's not to love?

RamsaySnowsSausage · 13/08/2024 19:56

It's such a good film. I go to Whitby most years, always hope to catch Keanu at the Magpie Cafe. The Dracula Experience in Whitby is sooo bad it's fantastic.

Sort of off topic but not quite, I just found out today that China in your Hand by Tpau is was based on Mary Shelley's writing of Frankenstein. Love that song but had no clue what she was on about 🤣

cupcaske123 · 13/08/2024 20:02

I'm a huge Stoker fan but didn't like the film.

Fav vampire films:

Let the Right One In (original)
Night Watch
Interview with a Vampire
Lost Boys
A Girl Walks Home
30 Days of Night

Cheesyfootballs01 · 13/08/2024 20:13

Gary Oldman is sublime in that film..

” I have crossed oceans of time to find you”

Fuck. Me 😍

I don’t even mind Keanu Reeves accent, he is also beautiful in it.

The cinematography is gorgeous and is so gothic and lush.

I also adore how they made it a love story and not just a horror- I ALWAYS feel sorry for Drac when he gets back to the castle and dies..

SoManyBadgers · 13/08/2024 20:15

I love it too, it's so atmospheric and sexy and looks amazing.

I'm so excited to see the new Nosfetatu film next year!

Laiste · 13/08/2024 20:31

I love it.

I love to watch it with a few JDs on a Sat and get all horny gothically romantic.

Re: film triggered sexual awakenings - mine was Risky Business. Got in very underage to see it at the cinema and Rebecca De Mornay
and Tom cruise on the train with the Tangerine Dream soundtrack was mine Smile

This would be an interesting thread theme ...

xsquared · 13/08/2024 20:32

Absolutely love Bram Stoker's Dracula, and although not 100% faithful to the book, it is more so than many adaptations I've seen so far. I had high hopes for the BBC one with Claus Bang, but that got weird after episode 1.

Loved the Lost Boys too. If you liked Brooke McCarter's Paul(RIP), you can spot him in Debbie Harry's "I want that man" music video.

RockyRogue1001 · 13/08/2024 20:41

<Sidles into thread>

Buffy
🎤

[I think it counts]

<runs away very quickly>

Bracknellite · 13/08/2024 20:44

IMO Daybreakers is the best vampire film

Scorchio84 · 13/08/2024 20:46

Oh god so many great suggestions, thanks everyone! Dying at @Laiste the "Risky Business" sexual awakening, trains damn trains! that's also a good long forgotten film!

Scorchio84 · 13/08/2024 20:48

Oh my god @xsquared no fucking way!!! Also thanks you're right, Paul is his name! Youtube is getting it now 😍

30 days of night is epic!
Although I will always have a soft spot for True Blood

thenightsky · 13/08/2024 20:53

30 Days of Night is my favourite.

BorgQueen · 13/08/2024 20:55

Love it, utterly stunning, visually.
love Queen of the Damned too - ( Stuart Townsend as Lestat was almost as good as his Dorian Grey)
and have a soft spot for Van Helsing.
