The 90's one

it's immense, I've watched it a hundred times & it never gets old, the costumes even & i'm aware of the dodgy accents

Adding in “Vamp” for the electrifying glamour of ms grace jones !

fumanchu · 13/08/2024 23:10

I vote for Nosferatu, with Klaus Kinski and Isabelle Adjani.
But best by far is Claes Bang in the BBC Mark Gatiss production. Superb.

Pussycat22 · 13/08/2024 23:17

Brilliant film and Salem's Lot is absolutely terrifying.

Fangisnotacoward · 13/08/2024 23:18

Lost Boys for me

SunshinyDay1 · 13/08/2024 23:23

For me it didn't really capture the book and the Mina-Dracula love story was made up. I couldn't stand the actors, although I thought Oldman was very good the rest weren't good. I especially couldn't stand the Lucy actress. I thought Reeves was awful; wooden with a terrible English accent.

The cinematography was good but I found the film nice to look at but vapid.

everything you said is true to an extent, who would you have rathered as the actors?

For me Gary Oldman is the best looking vampire EVER...😍 Worth watching just for him!

Scorchio84 · 13/08/2024 23:39

@Psychoville78 he outshines Keanu Reeves, how does that happen?

Also have to mention Annie Lennox "Love song for a vampire"

Daughters of Darkness! It’s a feminist classic, highly recommended.

also love The Lost Boys, with its not so subtle gay subtext 😍

PurpleFlower1983 · 13/08/2024 23:41

I love Gary Oldman, especially when he is old Dracula. It’s hammy but it works.

I once watched the b&w Dracula with Bela Lugosi in the title role, while insomniac and semi-delirious with flu. That might be why I thought it so incredible. It had armadillos!

Atethehalloweenchocs · 13/08/2024 23:46

Let the right one in. Could not stop thinking about it for ages after.

Scorchio84 · 13/08/2024 23:47

well you sold me, I need this in my life, Armadillos are under appreciated, Willy Nelson not withstanding @moggerhanger

there's something about children & vampires, same as Salem's Lot that kills me

Late to this but I LOVE this film!!! 🙏🏻

I think it’s one of the most romantic films ever.

Winona Ryder and Gary Oldman had incredible chemistry. But Winona and Keanu had none, which weakened the love triangle aspect.

Unless that was a deliberate choice when they made the film 🤔 As in, the love story between Mina and Jonathan couldn’t compare with the love between Mina and Dracula.

CheshireCat1 · 14/08/2024 00:18

Dance of the Vampires (1967) is my favourite vampire film.

Scorchio84 · 14/08/2024 01:47

know i'm being repetative but thanks for all these suggestions
& no one has mentioned The Cullens

I haven’t read every post so I’m not sure if it’s already been mentioned but I’m really looking forward to Nosferatu with Bill Skarsgard, Lily-Rose Depp and Willem Defoe which is coming out next year I believe???
I have to agree though, there’s just something about BSD. I watched it for the first time in years recently and it still gave me that feeling that I can’t quite put my finger on. I know the accents are a bit dodgy but I just love it. I also love Lost Boys. Totally different vibe but a great film
