To miss my more youthful vulva

OptimismvsRealism · 08/08/2024 09:14

I did not expect this bit of ageing at all (esp as I don't have kids so nothing controversial has ever really happened down there)

But I miss it feeling moister and bouncier and just generally more resilient and upbeat

And I miss not needing to pee every half hour

And then when you do pee it feels like there's more to come

Feel quite bummed out (was going to do a front bum pun but decided too shudder) to contemplate the next four decades with a buzzkill down there

Crikey. I'm 43 soon and was hoping that's more than a few years off.

Mine saw useful service until my early sixties so you can take heart.

Gowlett · 08/08/2024 11:16

Mine doesn’t want to have fun anymore, either…
I can feel its presence, but not in a good way.

I’ve bought my first mini vibe, so let’s see!
Had a C-Section so it’s just old, not broken.

Sitting here with my dry and uncomfortable labia like thanks for the bad anatomy lesson

😁😁😁😁
That told you.

But is it your labia majora or minora OP, be specific please....!!

Portfun24 · 08/08/2024 11:21

Wow I'm shocked at this change I'm about to turn 39 and didn't think anything would change so soon. All appears the same so far.

Also coming up to your age and my desire for intimacy of any kind has completely gone. I’m maybe putting it down to the pill I take? It’s the mini pill. I’ve never had this pill before and since I started taking it(about 18 months) I just can’t be arsed with sex or being in a relationship. Very unlike me.
I don’t want to stop taking it though, because I haven’t had a period since taking it!
any suggestions to get my mojo back?

Consider swapping to a mirena coil? Same effects on period but no effect on libido for me.

MyCatHatesSandals · 08/08/2024 11:24

As far as I know, all of these referred-to 'suppositories' are actually pessaries. I'm not sure sticking hormones up your arse is going to do much.

Haven’t read the thread. The title alone is 🤮

This comment does not pass the vibe check. Grow up

Straightouttachelmsford · 08/08/2024 11:28

Go see a pelvic physio. Very helpful.

HRT has helped with the undercarriage too.

Thanks - I'll persevere. My GP is awful so I want to avoid speaking to them as long as possible.

Speak to your pharmacist they maybe able to help. It sounds horrible what you are going through. I am turning 41 this year and every time I have a period I burn up. I need the Aircon on or fans because I am so hot. It does calm down after a couple of days. I feel sweaty and uncomfortable.

EBearhug · 08/08/2024 11:37

It may just be peri, but repeated thrush and frequent peeing - when did you last check your blood sugars?

Cattery · 08/08/2024 11:38

Estriol has changed my life. I could barely leave the house because of all the stinging and weeing. I noticed a difference after the first two applications. I now use every two days. It simply replaces depleted hormones. I can now go 4-5 hours without needing a wee which for me has been a miracle x

I have never had a blood sugar or cholesterol test cos my GP is rubbish! I suppose I should pay for these.

I hope one day you will come on here to share your menopause story. It's nothing to be ashamed about and more women should talk about it.

Yeah this too. I forgot...

NorseKiwi · 08/08/2024 11:42

I think you need to shop around for a new GP @OptimismvsRealism or better still see a great naturopath to help you with these matters.

I agree with the "YES" lube and Ovestin, I needed these from 45 onwards

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 08/08/2024 11:48

Any advice for us lot who can't take anything oestrogen-based due to breast cancer? Feeling pretty despondent....

I'm (only) 20 so you may think my comments irrelevant, but I would suggest pelvic floor exercises. I do them and find them v useful particularly in controlling my pee.

Hrt. You can stay on the mini pill and take hrt alongside.

Hankunamatata · 08/08/2024 11:59

As said I'm early 40s and been on hrt since late 30s as my periods started to disappear, I felt like I was on fire most of the time and oh my the dryness of vulva was so uncomfortable. And my mum is crippled with osteoarthritis after early menopause
Got mirena in and estrogen patches, moisturiser pessaries - I like the activ balance ones. My sex drive came back, the constant thrush and weeing disappeared. I feel much more like me.
I used a couple online labs to check bloods as easier than flaffing with gp. I used monitor my health for general then randox for hormones

Yes this is what I did for a long while - mini pill, Oestrogel and utrogestan.

LivinLaVidaLocaSolita · 08/08/2024 12:03

Early 50s here and no problems with mine!

PeachyKeane · 08/08/2024 12:03

Ovestin works a treat for both issues. I'm 55 and it has sorted me out.

OptimismvsRealism · 08/08/2024 12:05

I do wonder if people who bother to post to say they're fine also post on health threads to be like "well my arm isn't broken!"
