To miss my more youthful vulva

OptimismvsRealism · 08/08/2024 09:14

I did not expect this bit of ageing at all (esp as I don't have kids so nothing controversial has ever really happened down there)

But I miss it feeling moister and bouncier and just generally more resilient and upbeat

And I miss not needing to pee every half hour

And then when you do pee it feels like there's more to come

Feel quite bummed out (was going to do a front bum pun but decided too shudder) to contemplate the next four decades with a buzzkill down there

Early 50s here and no problems with mine!

Why would you post that? How is that helpful?

CobaltQueen · 08/08/2024 12:06

As a 39 year old, this is really depressing reading.

In all honesty, men don’t really care how your vagina looks. You can “shag your way through tinder”. I’m sure you’ll find plenty of men who will, they love an older woman no matter what your vagina looks like

You might be one of those Michelle Yeah of vulvas people who just remains awesome so I wouldn't bother worrying for now.

?????

This thread isn't about what men think of it. It looks fine. It isn't fun to use.

You’re the one mentioning women shagging their way through tinder not me

HesterRoon · 08/08/2024 12:10

Bloody hell! I’m 60 and haven’t experienced this. Maybe try oestrogen pessary? But needing to pee every half hour? Maybe see a GP?

Mine saw useful service until my early sixties so you can take heart.

Useful service 🤣🤣🤣.

I'm holding on to this, thank you 😊.

I miss my more youthful everything: boobs, knees, calves, ankles, bum, neck/jowls, the list goes on. Thanks to your post, I’m now adding vulva to my list… 😂

You beat me to it! was just thinking how i miss my tiny waist, flat stomach, defined jaw line and glossy hair! Even my eyes look smaller and duller, they were one of my best features and one of the things I was complimented on. Most days I don't care but sometimes I miss the young woman I once was and more than my departed looks I miss the energy

BigSkies2022 · 08/08/2024 12:12

another vote for Ovestin cream. Plus other HRT - I have oestrogen gel, progesteron tablets, testosterone gel. Good quality lube. Find some porn that you enjoy and masturbate regularly.

Oh, and, sorry, but staying in better nick generally will help. So, for me, that meant stopping drinking, eating better, exercising more and better, losing a bit of weight and generally getting my mojo back. You will know what you're not doing right for you, and can make adjustments accordingly! I was about 10 years older than you when I got my mojo properly back, after a few shit years.

BloodyHellKenAgain · 08/08/2024 12:14

OP, it's not normal having to pee every 30 minutes and feel there is more to come.

I'm more than 10 years older than you, 3 years post menopause and have had 3 children and don't recognise any of what you're saying.

If I were you I'd see a doctor.

Dont think anyone has mentioned CBD Lube yet.
Maybe worth a try for £14.50 trial size 30 ml bottle from CBDBristol.com. Coconut oil based no issues with taste. Lots of benifits of CBD including increased blood flow. Hopfully will also make it more fun to use!!

I'm 40s and in menopause on hrt and suppositories. I can't say that there's any difference tbh.

Assume you mean pessaries.

Suppositories are used elsewhere (eg for piles!)

I am in my 50s with two DC and have none of the problems OP mentioned. I don't think they are usual.

Funnily enough I've just started full spectrum cbd for anxiety!

The safety information in the Ovestin box clearly says otherwise.

I ended up with endometrial hyperplasia from using ovestin post-menopause.

oberst · 08/08/2024 12:19

I recently lost a lot of weight and my vulva just isn't the same. I don't know if it's that, or age. But I hate the look of it down there now! I always thought I had a lovely neat vulva too😂

Londisc · 08/08/2024 12:20

Sorry if they've been mentioned, but I'm wondering about devices like the Vsculpt or kegel exercisers (alongside HRT)? Reviews seem to suggest they help but never used one and obviously internet reviews are often marketing. Has anyone used one as a treatment or as a preventative tool?

Really? My 87 year old mother uses Ovestin (linked to prolapsed uterus ishoos, I think, haven't wished to inquire - pretty certain it's not because she wants to jump my dad's bones) daily, has done for years, and I'm sure I would have heard about endometrial thing...

Charlottescobweb · 08/08/2024 11:39

I hope one day you will come on here to share your menopause story. It's nothing to be ashamed about and more women should talk about it.

Too late. Had mine 20 years ago 🤣

Turophilic · 08/08/2024 12:23

I am disappointed in all of you. Not one poster took @PortiaWithNoBreaks ’s blatantly obvious set up for terrible puns in her comment about plastic surgery for your fanny and ran with it. What on earth is Mumsnet coming to?

The whole shebang.

“The whole she-bang” at the very least…

And yes, the repeated bouts of thrush, horrible dryness and thinking I may have left my libido on a train somewhere about 8 years ago is bloody depressing.

I miss having great boobs. Proper, fill-your-dress nicely breasts. The kind that made every swimsuit look great.
Ones that could pass that daft pencil test. Not “could store an entire stationery drawer under there” and can probably shine my shoes if I lean forward.

I had no idea I was remotely proud of my figure until is vanished.

thenightsaredrawingin · 08/08/2024 12:26

I am mid 40s and on everything, HRT, ovestin cream, testosterone and have a very healthy diet plus I weight train/do lots of core exercises and I still have issues with mine so I sympathise OP.

Half the time it feels like cystitis, the rest of the time I just get a weird sensation down there. I have had checks for UTIs and nothing. I am pretty sure it isn't UTIs as the pain varies with my cycle and is also worse at the end of the day. I am also dealing with rectal and bladder prolapse and poor sleep due to pelvic pain. I have resorted to wearing a tampon with ovestin cream on it daily which seems to help a little.

I have seen a GP and physio and their comment was that all looks fine tissue wise. The physio said it looks like a mild prolapse however a private gyno said it was grade 3 so no idea who to believe.or what to do about it. Exercises seem to have little impact. The private gyno suggested pessaries however I have tried two and they both fell out within 30 minutes. She charges me £200 for another 5 minute appointment each time I have one fitted but says things are not bad enough for surgery.

It is odd however our experiences of peri/menopause can be so different and some people just sail through with no impacts.
