To think Elon has lost his mind?

I used to be a big supporter of his. I was absolutely obsessed with his work on SpaceX and neuralink. His Joe Rogan interviews are some of the most interesting conversations I've ever listened to. Since he bought twitter I feel like he's been radicalised. I honestly can't square the man he seemed to be while building this extraordinary career with who he had become.
I still agree with him on quite a few topics, but his outbursts on twitter this week to stoke the riots is just reprehensible. His comments seriously make me feel sick. I really hope he is held to account when the dust settles. Although I don't hold out much hope.

In the app so can't set up voting properly, but essentially
YABU - Elon Musk is of sound mind
YANBU- you're right, he's lost it

He’s gone mad. Deliberately being provocative.

NowyouhaveDunnett · 06/08/2024 14:22

I always disliked him. He said some horrible things about the diver who helped rescue the Thai football team from the flooded cave.

WindsurfingDreams · 06/08/2024 14:24

I wonder if the revolting sides of his personality were always there but were just well hidden when he was focused on the tech /science stuff?

Yeah, that showed who he is. Don't think there was ever any way of coming back from that.

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 06/08/2024 14:24

He’s another of those people who’s great in their own sphere, but an idiot outside it.

I agree with a lot of his attitudes, and initially he really cleaned twitter up in terms of consistent policy.

But now… needs to remember when he’s out of his zone.

BrownBirdWelcomesWhiteWave · 06/08/2024 14:25

He never had it in the first place

Arrogant arsehole

TheYearOfSmallThings · 06/08/2024 14:25

YANBU. Hubris has rotted his mind.

spiderdave · 06/08/2024 14:25

What's the gist of his comments? (Sorry, I don't use X and haven't seen anything about him recently!)

heldinadream · 06/08/2024 14:25

He's an untrustworthy arrogant narcissist.
And his name is an anagram of Lone Skum. So what were his parents thinking, calling him Elon? WTF sort of name is that, when it took me 2 seconds to spot the anagram? 😂

Qwertys · 06/08/2024 14:26

YABU for ever thinking he was decent. What do you agree with him about?

He’s always been like this it’s just more visible now he’s even more prominent in the media

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 06/08/2024 14:28

I don’t see a contradiction. He’s just a human. I think there are 2 things at play:

  1. He’s doing the typical middle aged man thing of thinking that because he is very successful at his career he knows everything about everything and we would all benefit from his opinion.
  2. He’s driven by emotion far more than he realises: in particular, his loss of his relationship with his child due to the child transitioning has fed into a general anti woke agenda which his claim of inconsistent policing is part of.
Grateeggspectations · 06/08/2024 14:29

He is provocative. Nobody with half a brain could imagine that anything can be gained by smashing up your own town and attacking the police who have a shitty job looking after us.

however. Until the rioters are listened to (even if what they are saying is crap) they will keep on escalating. As anybody who has worked in mediation or similar knows, you can’t de escalate a situation by telling off those who feel they have a grievance. And Keir Starmer talks like a head teacher who is keeping everyone in at the end of the day. He’s winding the rioters up.

Campcritters · 06/08/2024 14:29

He needs to be controversial & drive traffic to X as he paid £££££.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 06/08/2024 14:29

Why is he so important anyway?!

Hrs just a bigoted twat. I wish we could ban Twitter in this country.

But ‘free spreech’

This.

He does appear to think he’s some kind of a super villain controlling the world.

Campcritters · 06/08/2024 14:30

He’s always been an arrogant knob

So we should listen to their racism and violence🤨

Theyve just spat their dummies out because Reform didn’t win.

Just because people say things others don't agree with the U.K. shouldn't go around banning apps like X, free speech is very important and we shouldn't take for granted what a lot of the world don't have access to

Im not saying we should seriously ban it.

But free speech in its current form is causing as much trouble as being unable to speak freely.

Yes, but that's where the slippery slope begins.

ISawAMouse · 06/08/2024 14:36

He’s very arrogant with a bit of a God complex. I think everything has gone to his head.
Suggesting civil war here is like he is trying to incite hatred. He knows the power of social media, he’s dangerous.

Yes he is dangerous.

He's a legend.

In his own head.
