To think Elon has lost his mind?

I used to be a big supporter of his. I was absolutely obsessed with his work on SpaceX and neuralink. His Joe Rogan interviews are some of the most interesting conversations I've ever listened to. Since he bought twitter I feel like he's been radicalised. I honestly can't square the man he seemed to be while building this extraordinary career with who he had become.
I still agree with him on quite a few topics, but his outbursts on twitter this week to stoke the riots is just reprehensible. His comments seriously make me feel sick. I really hope he is held to account when the dust settles. Although I don't hold out much hope.

In the app so can't set up voting properly, but essentially
YABU - Elon Musk is of sound mind
YANBU- you're right, he's lost it

I always disliked him. He said some horrible things about the diver who helped rescue the Thai football team from the flooded cave.

Yes didn't he accuse him of being a p**phile?

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 06/08/2024 14:44

He gets frustrated and lashes out. In public.

Appalling.

CreationNat1on · 06/08/2024 14:46

He s a weed addict: narcissistic mad man, who thinks he is smarter than everyone else and is surrounded by people who compound that belief.

Whenwillitgetwarm · 06/08/2024 14:52

He’s doing it on propose. Anger and division creates more profit for Twitter. He’s literally making money from our county descending into chaos. He’s completely immoral and money obsessed.

He’s also a close associate of Peter Thiel who argues against democracy and is a key financial backer of Trump. These people want all the money and all the power in world as well as control over all of us.

I wish the Tesla board would remove him as he’s damaging the brand.

Yep. It was just because of sour grapes.

AvrielFinch · 06/08/2024 14:53

He has always been a nasty piece of work. He only got to where he has because he stole someone elses work and passed it off as his own. I watched a revealing documentary about him.
He also knows that sowing hate and division on X makes him a lot more money than if it was X was a decent place.

Bobbotgegrinch · 06/08/2024 14:55

He's been like this for years and years, people just haven't wanted to see it. He's entirely divorced from reality.

DeathbyDying · 06/08/2024 14:56

I don't agree with a lot of what Elon Musk says and the civil war thing was stupid and provocative unnecessarily but I do agree that Keir Starmer's post only specifically mentioning keeping Muslims and mosques safe was in the circumstances ill advised given the causes and main co-ordinators of these riots and that a focus on keeping everyone safe would have been better.

I’ve heard he’s on more than just weed. A few years ago he was partying with Grimes (pre kids) and Azalia Banks. And they all fell out and Banks was blurting his business all over the internet. It didn’t sound like it was tea and crumpets style partying going on at his place.

Arrogant arsehole

Im not saying we should seriously ban it.

But free speech in its current form is causing as much trouble as being unable to speak freely.

That sounds like something out of North Korea.

polyvinyl · 06/08/2024 14:59

YANBU

CosmicDaisyChain · 06/08/2024 15:01

The problem with people like him is they surround themselves with people who will never ever tell them how silly or even reprehensible some of the things they say are. So because nobody ever tells them, they have no benchmark of when they are going too far and saying things that will reflect really badly on them.

EasternStandard · 06/08/2024 15:03

marigoldandrose · 06/08/2024 14:31

Just because people say things others don't agree with the U.K. shouldn't go around banning apps like X, free speech is very important and we shouldn't take for granted what a lot of the world don't have access to

Agree and I’m not on X

hamstersarse · 06/08/2024 15:05

What do you think does cause civil war?

You have a majority of the population who want immigration reduced and the politicians are ignoring this. And have done for years.

There are ghettos, there is segregation; people are already divided. It has the basis for a civil war in the UK? Isn't EM correct?

He is also a free speech advocate, hence why he bought Twitter, and I for one am glad he did. All the other platforms have literally admitted that they take direction from the government. Anyone with an ounce of sense will know that governments controlling media is the first step into a hellhole which is way worse than a daft meme from Elon Musk.

Do you mean Mark Zuckerberg? He knowingly stole Facebook from his best mate and hung him out to dry.

If Musk has done the same shows these power hungry dicks have a lot in common.

I think Zuckerberg is also a highly, highly dangerous individual. His platforms - Spreading fake news, algorithms, Insta damaging so many young girls mental health etc etc.

JennyForeigner · 06/08/2024 15:10

Absolute lunatic. Obsessively doubling down on 'free speech' and opening the door to fascism to try and disguise that he was forced into buying twitter after being an arrogant prick.

His arse is showing now. I wish he would fuck off back to a diamond mine and let x get in the bin. All it's good for now anyway.

AvrielFinch · 06/08/2024 15:10

@AdviceNeeded2024 No Musk stole some coding work and passed it off at his own to get a job with Apple.

I agree re Starmer, terrible media advisor obviously. He should have rightly condoned this awful violence and that communities would be protected, however he should have kept it to ANY violence/rioting etc is unacceptable. Because it is, doesn’t matter your ‘cause’ or reason, rioting, violence, looting, attacking police is unacceptable at all times no matter who you are.

Edit for typo

Strange how they both have this in common. I didn’t know that about Musk.

Araminta1003 · 06/08/2024 15:12

I think we should ban Twitter. What he did is unforgivable. He is unelected and has far too much power and is not policing Twitter properly, it comes with a responsibility.
He is on a huge power trip.

I love the fact that when the bots tried to infiltrate MN we could all report it quickly and they took it down. Why can he not organise his own site properly? Hate speech is illegal.

Why?

LemonTreeGrove · 06/08/2024 15:14

I think his views were probably shaped growing up in apartheid South Africa.

I see your point but the problem comes with how far does it go and who deems what is unacceptable, him?

It’s very tricky and we don’t want government interference in this sort of thing. (Although it’s highly likely we already do in some platforms and certainly in the mainstream media)

JanglyBeads · 06/08/2024 15:16

Seen what his daughter has posted about him recently?!
