To think Tattle Life gossiping is necessary?

bottomsup12 · 25/07/2024 08:29

Immediately thoughts are that it's not nice to gossip and everyone should "be kind". However, in this day and age of social media influencers etc, everyone acknowledges that people show the best bits of their life, all the ups and rarely the downsides.

We are also told to stop comparing to others on this basis as we never know what's going on behind someone's glamorous life.

Therefore, I put it to you MNers, that the b*tchiness that occurs on Tattle Life (and is IS very much so) is a necessary antidote to the fake lives we can't help comparing ourselves to.

Instead of sitting here wondering how everyone else manages to have such a great time while you're broke hardly able to pay your bills, it's reassuring to see other people cutting through the crap and pointing out the other parts of their life.

I'd argue it's a necessary by product of social media antics and the naturally occurring ying to the social media glamorous yang!

What are your thoughts?

But you obviously have an account and read the threads on Tattle ??

Yes, it's funny how so many are familiar with the threads on Tattle despite finding it so abhorrent, yet they're recommending that posters on Tattler should ignore social media.

Have any of you ever considered ignoring Tattle if it upsets you so much?

I like reading the Off Topic and Advice forums, especially tips on looking more glamorous and keeping your home looking glamorous.

Same could be said about the ones who post on the MN thread. If they hate MN so much, why read it?

I think it's an important thing for checks and balances tbh.

So many public figures outright lie and mislead, it's healthy to have a place where they're discussed openly and honestly where they can't silence it (by deleting comments/blocking on their feeds). It also keeps things separate, an influencer or public figure doesn't have to know what's being said unless they choose to go and look for it.

Look at Alice Evans as an example, since her divorce she has abused, harassed and victimised her ex husband and his new partner, to the extent she's been given a Domestic Violence Restraining Order. That hasn't stopped her. But if you go by her own accounts, all you see is fabrications that lead viewers to believe she's the victim. It's typical DARVO abusive tactics but without Tattle there wouldn't really be anywhere to collate the evidence of what's actually going on, leaving the victims with very little recourse when it comes to public opinion (which sadly does matter when you're in the entertainment industry).

The threads on her are crucial for documenting her abuse so she can't get away with lying and fabricating genuinely disturbing accusations against the ex.

I think it's important tbh.

Edited

I'd imagine they don't hate every post and poster, some of them are posters here too. They're just taking the piss at some things that are posted here.

If you look at the thread now they're not up in arms about this thread.

I don't disagree at all about transparency, checks and balances etc being important and healthy. Absolutely. But Tattle isn't providing that is it? I know absolutely nothing about Alice Evans but presumably if the goal is to get her 'cancelled' from earning money from her social media and working with brands then surely its not achieving that goal if she's able to ignore it and continue posting? I imagine in fact it's pretty easy for her to say to any brand she works with that Tattle is just gossip and nasty?

I remember reading Lauren Goodgers thread when her baby passed away and they first blamed the doula and then blamed Lauren for her babies death including saying she took drugs through her pregnancy.
I haven’t read it since then, I used to just read it for the gossip but it goes beyond that really.

That Is horrifying that poor woman, what is wrong with people.

You're mistaken, the goal isn't to get her cancelled. Tattle has a strict 'don't touch the poo' rule, anyone found to have messaged or contacted or left comments on the public figure's page is swiftly banned. You'll find quite a few posters who are supportive of her working, because she certainly needs to start supporting her children. I've never come across anyone who has tried to interfere with her earning opportunities.

I'm not claiming Tattle overall is set up to be some kind of arbiter of truth and justice, it's just a gossip forum. I'm just saying I think it's health that there is a place where public figures can be discussed and (if needed) held to account. There are also rave threads for fans of public figures, it's not all critical.

It's a web forum where ethically minded folk rightfully call out injustice.

Dyatlovovpass · 26/07/2024 13:21

@cupcaske123 ah ok

Calling out injustice sounds like a necessary thing.

MouseofCommons · 26/07/2024 13:25

I didn't realise how dodgy influencers were until I read tattle. They're very good at calling out bullshit. Some of then are just pathetically nasty though.

However, I'd never join as they're weird for not allowing swearing.

PenelopeHofstadter · 26/07/2024 13:26

@MouseofCommons swearing is allowed on tattle!

Over40Overdating · 26/07/2024 13:28

@CandiedPrincess plenty calm, thanks, but crack on thinking you and tattlers are doing a public service by revelling in other people’s mental health issues or personal problems.

And to a PP saying people calling tattlers names are somehow being high and mighty - I WAS a tattler. For the reason most of the vindictive bullies on there are : my self esteem was in the dumps and I needed to feel better about myself by reading and contributing to threads shitting on other people and calling it accountability. It was bullshit then and now.

Apolloneuro · 26/07/2024 13:46

OhHelloMiss · 25/07/2024 11:02

I love Tattle.... no codes at present to give though

PTWM.....really really opened my eyes and loved watching the fallout

They report many influencers for not sticking to 'gifting' rules and regs. But Part Time Working Mummy went a lot further.

Yes! And they called her out for posting videos of her teenage stepson, just in his pants, and with him unaware. Telling everyone her underage daughter had had a miscarriage….

Pretending Patreon accounts were made to provide money to support women (turned out not to be true.)

Then there was her doxxing (which is illegal.)

Tattle has down a brilliant job of exposing her shenanigans.

There definitely are threads that are unpleasant and I avoid those.

I’ve come across far, far more bitchy comments on here (literally the first response on this post!)

MouseofCommons · 26/07/2024 13:47

pen where? I only see them use words like 'tit' instead of shit. Have I missed a secret sweary corner?
