Slapped in the face with a tortilla wrap.

Title says it all really.

Backstory:

Just cooked tea for the family (though not myself as I wasn’t hungry)

DP took his time coming to the table, which was slightly annoying but is what it is.

He sat down and asked for sauces, I looked at him and told him where they were (as in get them yourself)

He looks at me with mock puppy dog eyes and says “but I have a bad foot and I’ve been working on your house all day”

  1. He does have a bad foot after he impaled it on two rusty nails while building a fence at my house.
  2. He’s been plastering walls all day at my house
The house we live in is in his name so I’ve recently bought my own as an investment/security for myself. He has been incredibly helpful with doing up the property so I got up and got him the condiments…. ….only to be slapped in the face with a tortilla wrap!

He thought it was funny, DSS thought it was funny (my DS still hadn’t made it downstairs to the table at this point) and when I was clearly unamused DP’s response was “It’s a thing!!” And tried to justify himself by saying it’s something trending online. I did pick up his drink and threaten to throw it over him but stopped as I didn’t want to be the one to clear up the mess after - it feel guilty for it as I undoubtedly would.

So
AIBU - lighten up it’s just a joke
AINBU - Cheeky (Expletive) can make his own food in future.

I think it’s a stupid trend but I’d have probably laughed it off.

frannygallops · 14/07/2024 19:18

Sound as annoying as each other to be honest. He's got a bad foot so you could have got them for him and he's out of order for slapping you with a tortilla.

Anneta · 14/07/2024 19:19

It’s an online thing. Surprised you haven’t seen it. He was joking.

SaphiraBlue · 14/07/2024 19:19

I did get the condiments for him

I hate jokes like that at someone elses expense. They are not funny.

Blackboxbetty · 14/07/2024 19:21

Yeah I'd probably laugh and I'm a right moody cow on occasion

TooManyAnimals94 · 14/07/2024 19:22

Yeah I snorted...that's funny.

Greyblind09 · 14/07/2024 19:22

😂😂😂

Skinglow · 14/07/2024 19:22

I laughed at your title, sorry.

Hankunamatata · 14/07/2024 19:23

Urgh it's a stupid you tube thing. Dc were telling me about it. And nope would have gone ape shit if dh did that to me.

neverbeenskiing · 14/07/2024 19:24

I would expect a teenager to justify doing something like this with "it's a thing" and "its trending online" but not a grown man.

Singleandproud · 14/07/2024 19:24

I wouldn't like it BUT it is a thing and with a child at the table I might try to find the funny side of it. If he'd done it with just the two of you then I wouldn't.

I guess you could either take this as the start of 'prank wars' if you are that sort of family and everyone can take a joke, (we don't in my house and someone would definitely cry). Or have a quiet word later about not doing silly things off the internet as you don't want the DC copying as some trends can be dangerous.

Everyone's online experience is very different. There's no reason the OP will have seen it. I haven't.

TiptoeThroughTheToadstools · 14/07/2024 19:25

I laughed when I read your post, sorry 😬 but it is funny. Your DH sounds like he can't read the room though.

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 14/07/2024 19:26

That isn't the trend though is it? The trend is to take it in turns to hit each other while having a mouthful of water and try not to spit it out. So it's 2 consenting people doing it, not just someone randomly walloping someone because they refuse to get the sauce out of the fridge/cupboard

thunderandsunshine01 · 14/07/2024 19:26

I could not get this worked up over a tortilla. It wasn’t done maliciously

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 14/07/2024 19:28

He'd have been squirted in the face with the condiments if he'd done that to me.

It's funny when the other person laughs.

What happened is that OP cooked for two people when she wasn't eating, fetched condiments for him, then was slapped in the face and laughed at. Ha-fucking-ha.

Online pranks are turning people into proper idiots. And I say that as someone who lives in a house where we regularly slap each other's arses.

That's not what happened though.

Georgyporky · 14/07/2024 19:28

I've have squirted chilli sauce on his dick & made a "joke" about a BJ.

EKnaring · 14/07/2024 19:29

I’d have laughed it off personally, YABU

GrouchyKiwi · 14/07/2024 19:29

"It's an online thing" isn't the get out of jail card so many people think.

I'd have been pissed off, OP. What a dick.

OriginalUsername2 · 14/07/2024 19:29

It would be better if you knew it was a thing online beforehand. A tortilla in the face and then everyone laughing manically at you out of nowhere is a probably a bit jarring if you don’t know what’s going on!

Time to plan your revenge OP

Skinglow · 14/07/2024 19:30

No one must ever muck about according to MN. Serious faces and no laughing allowed.

Poppysmom22 · 14/07/2024 19:31

Sorry but that’s hilarious we have done something similar with a cheese slice to much amusement
