I can’t remember Sad

Does anyone else feel like the country/world/whatever has lost its sense of humour? I feel like everything used to be more of a laugh.

OP posts:

I laugh with my husband every day. Went out with my best friend last week and we were in fits several times. And my kids are pretty funny.

Are you OK otherwise and happy?

Werweisswohin · 13/07/2024 22:45

I still laugh quite a lot tbh.
I find it very cathartic.

Julyshouldbesunny · 13/07/2024 22:45

Right now watching the new Axel F film.

SkaneTos · 13/07/2024 22:50

I laugh almost every day!

It might be about a funny situation that I remember,
something funny in a book or on TV/radio/Internet,
or something funny that a family member/friend/colleague said.

Elfie23 · 13/07/2024 22:53

At work a few weeks ago, I mispronounced something and it was one of those had to be there moments but my boss had tears running down her face and I was a mess too 🙈😂😂

CobaltQueen · 13/07/2024 22:55

Honestly can't remember

aesoplover · 13/07/2024 22:57

Ah this is very sad.

I laugh multiple times a day and probably have a really big laugh once a week.

HcbSS · 13/07/2024 22:58

I have really struggled to laugh properly since my beloved gran died last year. So has my mum.
However, a couple of months ago, mum had come with me to church where one of my best friends is vicar. She is fairly new in charge there and the old guy used to ‘share the peace’ by waving rather than a traditional handshake. My mum whispered really loudly ‘tell (my friend) she needs to knock the waving on the head - it’s like a children’s puppet show’. For some reason I was imagining my friend standing behind the altar with hand puppets and it made me laugh so much, I was stifling giggles for the rest of the service. Felt so alien after so long feeling sad.
I did tell my friend and she laughed too. Handshakes/hugs reinstated from the following week.

SinkingFeelingSoph · 13/07/2024 22:59

My very funny child makes me guffaw, but it’s been YEARS since I had a proper uncontrollable laughing fit with a friend. The type that requires you stuffing your fist in your mouth to stop the hysterics. Years! Like over 10

aesoplover · 13/07/2024 23:01

You have to look for the humour in things I think:

-Follow some funny social media pages
-Get together with friends and reminisce over funny things that have happened in the past or listen to their anecdotes
-Watch a funny film or series (highly recommend The Office US version)

I think the more you do these things, the more likely you are to find other things to make you laugh.

Devilsmommy · 13/07/2024 23:03

My DH and toddler DS make me full on belly laugh daily

MonsteraMama · 13/07/2024 23:04

About ten minutes ago at my husband acting a fool.

You ok OP? The world at large is a bit shite at the moment, but there's still a lot of fun and joy to be had in our own little worlds.

Oh please tell us what it was… otherwise we’ll have to start guessing.

I guess quitchy ( as in quiche)

DoAClassicCamel · 13/07/2024 23:06

I went to see Kathy & Stella Solve A Murder in London, really really funny new musical. Laughed a lot.

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 13/07/2024 23:07

I can’t remember either. Everything is just a series of annoyances and mediocrity.

Calliopespa · 13/07/2024 23:09

For me yesterday. A joke I made that made DH laugh but I cannot share as a bit politically incorrect

greengreyblue · 13/07/2024 23:10

Just now . Watching the Going for an Indian sketch from The Fast Show.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 13/07/2024 23:10

I laugh loads! Sometimes at comedies etc, but mostly because my family are hilarious pretty often!

fruitpastille · 13/07/2024 23:10

Watching The Sky at Night on TV and making very puerile jokes about Uranus. E.g. Using a telescope to peer at Uranus. Dd and I completely lost it!

Lavenderfields21 · 13/07/2024 23:12

Went shopping with DP 2 days ago. He was bored. There were a row of similar jumpers in different colours and I asked his opinion on which he liked. He said "that one" and I was like "are you sure", "but does that suit my skin better", " how about this one"? And proceeded to hold up each colour. He was getting fed up at this point and said "I said that one. I'm going to shove a jumper up your arse in a minute" I don't know why, but it made me cry with laughter.

usernother · 13/07/2024 23:13

Today listening to Sean Lock on Spotify. I laugh every day, either in conversation or listening to or watching something. I feel sorry for people who hardly laugh. Your lives must be miserable.

greengreyblue · 13/07/2024 23:14

@Lavenderfields21 that’s just made me 🤣

Lavenderfields21 · 13/07/2024 23:17

@greengreyblue the fact that he was a bit grumpy whilst saying it made it funnier. he then decided to wait on a bench outside the shop and I when I set eyes on him again, I was hysterical--he thought I was crying 😂

Mumblechum0 · 13/07/2024 23:17

Last night at a party. Guy used to be a chef on the road with various bands, touring the world.

Told me about how one night he asked Fat Reg (Elton John) if he wanted dinner after the show, was told no.

Fat Reg comes off stage, demands dinner but everything's already packed up on a truck.

My mate gave FR a pizza menu and said, You play it, I'll sing it 😂

I'd had many cocktails and shots by this point so found it hilarious
