I can’t remember Sad

Does anyone else feel like the country/world/whatever has lost its sense of humour? I feel like everything used to be more of a laugh.

That’s really sad @Rainbowsponge

I laugh out loud fairly often. Usually a shared joke with young adult DC or with my friends. Or watching Would I Lie to You.

I quite often have tears running down my face where I’m laughing so much.

Do you have friends who you have fun with?

Muffin101 · 14/07/2024 10:10

Oh that’s a shame, I’m sorry you feel that way.
honestly, I laugh every day, multiple times a day. At DH, DS, the dogs, the horses, my friends, a funny tv show… I’ve always been pretty ‘jolly’ (to quote my mother 😂) all round.

obsessedwithfreshbread · 14/07/2024 10:43

@Rainbowsponge

Being an adult doesn't automatically mean losing the joy for life

I laugh hard several times a day either with DH, DSC, colleagues neighbours etc.
I'm not sure how I wouldn't cope with a life without laughter, I suppose it would be a spiral and once there is nothing to laugh about it becomes a very bleak place

I’m ok thanks. I don’t mean that I don’t laugh at all - I do, just not in that belly aching way. But then neither does anybody around me, they all seem a bit humourless. Maybe it’s because we’re adults now.

Must be your circle or circumstances. I'm 61 and pretty much the youngest of all my friend groups now, and when we meet up we're likely to be laughing our heads off.

Shaketherombooga · 17/07/2024 19:45

Watch the football on Sunday with an extended group of friends- lots of kids around, adults we’ve known for years and cos did we laugh! Been a few weeks since we got that group together and when we do, it’s fun.
The week before met up with mum’s sisters and they crack everyone up. they drag up all the old stories about each other and have anyone joining them in tears within minutes.
I hope I’m like that in my 60s and 70s -
just remembering everything through rose tinted glasses, cackling like a loon!

Shaketherombooga · 17/07/2024 19:46

It’s the company, isn’t it. The friends watching the football were almost all English, and we still had a right laugh. Less about why we’re together and the fact that we are together.

TBH if you feel the country or world has lost it’s humor, you might just be a bit depressed .

ProvincialLady2024 · 17/07/2024 19:56

A man I know cracks me up every time we have an exchange. Really funny guy.

TowerRavenSeven · 17/07/2024 19:57

Yesterday actually, before that I’m not sure when. Went to the theatre and the play was the Nutty Professor based on the Jerry Lewis movie. When they introduced ‘Miss Lemon’ I just burst out laughing, for some reason that name always makes me howl with laughter!

Shaketherombooga · 17/07/2024 19:58

I have to admit I watch the funny dog type videos on social
media and they absolutely crack me up! Cute baby ones too… the world is so full of joy, just have to look in the right place.

Coastalcreeksider · 17/07/2024 20:13

Man Down on All4 with Greg Davies.

Despite how many times I've seen them, I still burst out laughing at some of the episodes, especially those with Rik Mayall as his dad.

Might watch another one tonight.

Shaketherombooga · 17/07/2024 20:19

I also laughed at this - sort off- had my team at a tournament and while talking to them turned my head and walked right into a goalpost.
Bounced off it in a comedy manner, and because it was those Forza goals that you put together there was a lovely BOING sound that ran out.
Yea, it stung but watching the kids fall about laughing was almost worth it. I did laugh. Felt like a right plank.

This morning. I awoke to some really good news. My husband randomly took a day off work to take me to the beach for a spontaneous ‘date day’

Another older couple were in the sea together having a lovely time, and on seeing an unexpected big wave come the guy put his hand up to it but in like a ‘hold on a sec’ gesture while he carried on his conversation and it crashed over his head. His wife and I both burst into hysterics, and kept catching each other’s eye and laughing. It’s a bit unusual these days but I had a really good day :)

DaisyLouB · 17/07/2024 20:22

What has made me laugh out loud recently is seeing these clips pop up on facebook reels, they are probably also on tik tok and YouTube of this guy in orange shorts in Central Park NY with some kind of fart machine and the camera picks up peoples reactions as he lets rip when he walks past them. Sad as that is as I’m mid 40s and finding this hilarious. My kids are like 🙄

OldTinHat · 17/07/2024 20:29

This afternoon. At the cinema with a friend.

junebirthdaygirl · 17/07/2024 20:34

On ticktock l watched an American tourist to lreland bop around happily to a marching band thinking it was so cute. She didn't realise it was an Orange order parade celebrating July 12th with their drums etc which is a complete no no for most lrish and really raises our hackles in a serious way. It was so funny seeing her joyful little face completely oblivious while knowing what the comments were going to be. I was crying from laughing!!

Fuddley · 17/07/2024 20:39

I titter at things multiple times a day. A real lose control belly laugh, usually when with good friends after a few drinks TBH. I known people here love to scorn drunken laugher, but I refuse to accept laughing is a bad thing.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 17/07/2024 20:46

Earlier today about a child at work's fake hat...

Stoptherideiwanttogetoff24 · 17/07/2024 20:48

Tonight with my kids at dinner 🥰 they crack me up!

Meowzabub · 17/07/2024 20:49

I was laughing at some house of the dragon memes earlier. Giggled myself to tears over one where Daemond skydives onto Aemond. I'm easily entertained.

TheFairyCaravan · 17/07/2024 20:50

Last night.

I sometimes go to bed before DH and often fall asleep either reading my iPad or my Kindle so he has to take my glasses off me and put my device away. Last night I heard him coming up the stairs so turned my iPad off, shut mu eyes and lay really still, in the dark. He came in and said “oh, Fairy you’ve gone to sleep again” as he crept round the bed. Just as he was about to take my glasses off, I went “boo”. He squealed and jumped out of his skin while I laughed my head off. He laughed too.

okayhescereal · 17/07/2024 20:51

I laugh almost every day these days as my 3 year old is hilarious! It's lovely to be laughing so much. Think the last time I laughed so easily was when I was on the school bus with a friend, we used to crack eachother up to the point we were silent laughing and crying. Over 20 years ago now!

Titsywoo · 17/07/2024 20:52

I laugh many times a day - my husband, kids, work colleagues and friends are all funny and we make each other laugh a lot.

JanglingJack · 17/07/2024 20:53

All the time with my teenage daughter, crackles, guffaws and belly aches. Usually at my expense. It's just the two of us. I know how lucky I am.
