Voting in an hour - tell me why I shouldn’t vote reform

Wentie · 04/07/2024 08:43

This isn’t a wind up. I’ve done countless different quiz type things and the policies I most align to come out strongly reform. I would previously have been a Tory voter. I don’t like farage and I do feel prejudiced against reform from what is portrayed in the media - but their policies appeal to me. Anyone have any actual facts or glaring holes that I might have missed?

Vote for the policies you want to see. The rest of the establishment red a kick up the ass and to be forced to actually engage with views that are not their own. If you don’t vote re form the other parties will continue to ignore what you would like.

I think quite a few ex-Tory voters will be voting Reform to send a protest message to the Conservatives, as the current Tory govt have moved so far away from conservative ideology and principles.

Women's rights?

Vote with your conscience, is what I would say.

MammaMiaPizzeria · 04/07/2024 08:46

You might like their policies but they have absolutely no way of actually making their policies happen. They're not to be taken seriously.

AstonMartha · 04/07/2024 08:47

They are racist, sexist, homophobic wankers.

RDMPrules · 04/07/2024 08:47

I mean there's the fact that Reform can say whatever they like with absolute no costing because they'll never get a chance to do it. And the fact that Farage is a racist fascist twat.

HebburnPokemon · 04/07/2024 08:47

Death penalty?

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 04/07/2024 08:47

Because they tolerate objectionable candidates.

many people align with their policies- they are mainly fairly sensible. Unfortunately their representatives are generally very bad on protecting the vulnerable. It’s all a bit dog eat dog.

Sensible can mean ‘let’s not waste money on keeping unproductive people alive’.

It’s pragmatic but also selfish.

They are likely to tiptoe across the line from efficient and sensible, to ‘look after our own first’ to ‘screw foreigners, funny looking people and the disabled’.

Captainmycaptains · 04/07/2024 08:47

They’re facists. Facists with unrealistic, policies who seem to want the U.K. to go back in time to a mythical era of the ‘Darling Buds of May’

Zanatdy · 04/07/2024 08:48

If you don’t know why then don’t bother voting at all. I cannot believe anyone would even contemplate voting for them

BorgQueen · 04/07/2024 08:48

The country needs massive change, if you think that Reform will be able to change things for the better then vote for them, if not then don’t.

JacquesHarlow · 04/07/2024 08:48

Instead of asking us to tell you what you should do @Wentie ,

Could you tell us please what are the three most important political priorities for you from a party?

If you can’t think of three, then name one?

The reason why I say it is that this thread will dance around the issues that Reform stand for

But as you started the thread, I think you should say why they appeal to you - what are their particular priorities which chime with yours?

Butteredtoast55 · 04/07/2024 08:48

They represent a frighteningly right wing agenda where racism, misogyny, elitism, intolerance and bigotry are the norm. So if that's your cup of tea, there's nothing to stop you.

RaspberryRipple2 · 04/07/2024 08:49

They don’t have any policies do they? The leaflet I’ve had through is peddling every random conspiracy theory as a catch all for ignorant bigots basically. If you’re an ignorant bigot then by all means go ahead (and if that’s put you off then I’ve done my job 🤣)

SuePreemly · 04/07/2024 08:49

Spent half that hour reading up on the Blackshirts during the 1920s and 1930s.

See the parallels between their beliefs and Reform and have a bloody good word with yourself.

HebburnPokemon · 04/07/2024 08:50

I'll say it again: they want to bring back the death penalty

CinnamonCuirass · 04/07/2024 08:50

If the quizzes are saying you should vote Reform then frankly you are beyond saving. You should stay at home with your pint of Guinness, your dirty England flag and just wait for the ‘ladz’ to play their next footy game (if you’re even still in the competition LOL).

Leave the direction of the country to the sensible people.

LegoLegoLegoLegoLego · 04/07/2024 08:50

I think aligning yourself with a party which attracts racist bigots is a deliberate choice which you would have to just own (to yourself as well as others) if that's the way you choose to go 🤷‍♀️

BorgQueen · 04/07/2024 08:51

The Blackshirts were in Mussolini’s Italy and the Brownshirts were in Germany . At least get your history correct 🙄

ShutTheFuckUpCakes · 04/07/2024 08:53

Because presumably you're not a racist cunt.

Pelham678 · 04/07/2024 08:53

Butteredtoast55 · 04/07/2024 08:48

Even if that wasn't true they know they won't be in power so they can just have a manifesto that isn't economically viable as it will never get found out. What they CAN do is be massive disrupters, which is what Farage does. He's made a fortune out of it.

If you want to continue to fund a nasty piece of work who's caused untold damage to this country and will continue to do so, then no-one else can stop you enriching him even further and causing even more division and chaos.

chimppyjamas · 04/07/2024 08:53

Because he thinks Andrew Tate is a good role model for our young men. Andrew tate is a rapist and sex trafficker. I think that shows what reform think about women
