Voting in an hour - tell me why I shouldn’t vote reform

Wentie · 04/07/2024 08:43

This isn’t a wind up. I’ve done countless different quiz type things and the policies I most align to come out strongly reform. I would previously have been a Tory voter. I don’t like farage and I do feel prejudiced against reform from what is portrayed in the media - but their policies appeal to me. Anyone have any actual facts or glaring holes that I might have missed?

Don't know where to start really. But Farage has been saying for decades that the NHS must be sold off.

If Reform got in it will be like the post Brexit nonsense : millions of dozy people saying things like ' I never thought this would happen' or ' this isn't real Brexit '.

Just as they say ' this isn't the real Conservative Party I voted for'. Of course it fucking is. Have you all been in a coma since 1979?

Ereyraa · 04/07/2024 08:53

You can vote for anyone you want, that’s the beauty of democracy.

When will the you must vote for X posters realise being told who to vote for has the opposite effect.

milsenemy · 04/07/2024 08:54

RaspberryRipple2 · 04/07/2024 08:49

They don’t have any policies do they? The leaflet I’ve had through is peddling every random conspiracy theory as a catch all for ignorant bigots basically. If you’re an ignorant bigot then by all means go ahead (and if that’s put you off then I’ve done my job 🤣)

This! What policies?! 😂😂 a mediocre amount of intelligence and critical thinking shows their manifesto is sweeping statements with no gravitas.

Wentie · 04/07/2024 08:55

@HebburnPokemon what do they say about women’s rights? I hadn’t seen anything, so really do want to be educated. I approve of their stance on transgender ideology being banned in schools and women’s safe places?

CucumberBagel · 04/07/2024 08:55

I think my favourite part of their policies is how spare land should be used for farming and agriculture and not rewilding. Fuck knows where they think the pollinators will go, then.

BorgQueen · 04/07/2024 08:56

For clarity I’m not voting Reform -
if they are so awful, why have I seen Black people, a big group of Sikhs and plenty of Women campaigning for them?

Also, lots of people agree with the death penalty.

MyCatHatesSandals · 04/07/2024 08:56

Hurling insults simply mirrors the arseholedom back to the insulters.

Vote for what you feel is right. (No-one else has the right to tell you what to do - including those, like me, who are telling you to vote how you feel.)

LegoLegoLegoLegoLego · 04/07/2024 08:56

I don't think they are awash with feminists op 😆

errjql · 04/07/2024 08:56

You vote what you want to vote. Voting Reform is fine - we need something to balance out labour.

It’s lazy to say reform are racist - the reform candidate in my area isn’t British

just do it

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 04/07/2024 08:56

Vote for whoever you want to.

FrancescaContini · 04/07/2024 08:57

I hope the OP is joking and using this thread as an opportunity for others to read why NOT vote for the party of despicable racists.

timetobegin · 04/07/2024 08:57

Well if you hold the same views as them then that’s who you are, but it’s abhorrent.

KoalaKube · 04/07/2024 08:58

Because Reform has morphed from the National Front, BNP and UKIP. It’s not a party it’s Farage and Tice’s latest money making Grift. Of course some of their ‘policies’ match yours as they are a wish list totally made up and devoid of any financial scrutiny. If you are a Tory voter you should beware as Farage and Tice are on a . Mission to take over the Right wingers of the Conservative Party and move Iit further to the extreme right. Remember what happened pre leave campaign tthey/ he lit the touchpaper and stood back and watched chaos ensue - the beginning of the end for the Conservatives. Beware !

Dontknowwhattodo2024 · 04/07/2024 08:58

No one will ever know what you vote. So totally up to you.

mumonthehill · 04/07/2024 08:58

Vote for who you like that's democracy. However voting for a party that has very little depth on any issue, that is pandering to a racist mindset, that does not think about the most vulnerable in society, that has a vague economic policy, has a vague plan for the NHS and would like to be friends with Putin seems a little mad.

I hate to break it to you @BorgQueen but being from a so called ethnic minority doesn’t automatically make you a considerate or moral person just because you have the ever present threat of being persecuted

And worse, there is the “pulling up the drawbridge” syndrome which can easily happen when you have second or third generations who have grown up (and rightly so!) in Britain and therefore have the perspective of nationhood not colour.

for context, I am mixed race before anyone starts 😫

chimppyjamas · 04/07/2024 08:53

Because he thinks Andrew Tate is a good role model for our young men. Andrew tate is a rapist and sex trafficker. I think that shows what reform think about women

Have you actually listened to what he said on Andrew Tate? I encourage you to do so rather than repeating misleading reporting.

Boater · 04/07/2024 09:00

You think Nigel Farage believes in women's rights or minority rights? Really.

He's a narcissistic unreconstructed golf club bore with links to Russia and Vladimir Putin. If he wins Clacton he'll barely ever go there and is purely in it for what he can get.

But you do you OP.

Fink · 04/07/2024 09:00

Their 'policies' are pie in the sky promises that aren't properly costed. If they appeal to you, that's up to you, but just know that even if they ended up with a landslide vote and became the official opposition, or even government, very few of their policies could be enacted because they haven't got any proper suggestions as to how to pay for them. They are financially illiterate. Whether you're right or left or somewhere in between, a government has to balance the books as a really basic starting point.

They have demonstrated that they will not offer any kind of constructive opposition (assuming a Labour win): they will shout and whinge and loudly complain about what anyone else tries to do without offering a reasonable or realistic alternative.

That's why I think that even someone who aligns politically with Reform should realise that they are not, practically speaking, at all credible. Unless you want the House of Commons to be like an angry pub rant rather then any genuine attempt to run the country, don't vote Reform.

And plenty of women are misogynist! What's your point?

EarthlyNightshade · 04/07/2024 09:01

Which specific policies align with you?

Their main one is stopping the boats, is it that?

A standing candidate (Ian Gribbin) said all of the below and was not booted out of the party. Can you really vote for a party that doesn't condemn this from someone who might represent them in parliament? Really?

His comments:

"Do you (women) think you could actually work and pay for it all too like good citizens?

"Men pay 80% of tax – women spend 80% of tax revenue. On aggregate as a group you only take from society.
"Less complaining please from the 'sponging gender'."

He added that women are "subsidised by men to merely breath (sic)".
In January 2022 he posted: "Men pay 80% of tax. Women take out 80% of expenditures.

"Square that inequality first by depriving women of healthcare until their life expectancies are the same as men, Fair’s fair."

In December 2021 he wrote female soldiers "almost made me wretch (sic)" and were a "total liability".'

Whenwillitgetwarm · 04/07/2024 09:01

LOL. OPs thinking about voting for Reform because ‘women’s spaces’.

Reform Ltd are owned by a man who aligns with Andrew ‘sex trafficking rapist’ Tate, Donald ‘grab ‘em by the pussy, and take away their right to choose’ rapist Trump.

I don’t think the OP is genuine.
