Would you go out with hairy legs?

In shorts/skirt/dress?

I think I’ve reached a new low.
Since having my Dd I’ve had less time to
spend on myself as I previously did and I’m
less bothered. The other day it was hot, I was short of time and went out in shorts…with hairy legs. I’m a brunette so have quite dark, hairy legs, part of me thought eurgh, but then, ahh cba

Yes.

But I use a wheelchair so nobody notices my legs, they just stare at the wheelchair.

Chanelbasketballandchain · 05/06/2024 15:06

I wouldn't care if YOU do.

Personally, no. I don't like it on me. I don't like my hairy armpits either.

That said, I am happy without make-up, some women need to put "their face on" to be seen. As long as you are comfortable, who cares.

Imtootired · 05/06/2024 15:10

I do it all the time, even to my professional job. Do what you like in regards to grooming and don’t do the things you don’t want to. I don’t dye my grey hairs either but I wear lipstick most days. It’s a personal choice. If anyone comments they are rude and should mind their own business

Chely · 05/06/2024 15:11

No, garden fine but after so many years of it being frowned upon I just can't out and about.

Our eldest dd does, not bothered at all.

SpringleDingle · 05/06/2024 15:11

I just did, in a long skirt and no tights. I will go swimming after work and I may shave pits and legs but I am tired and I have a headache so maybe I won't bother.

I am a 46 year old pre-menopausal mother of an ASD teen. I am also a Department Director, a global expert in my field, a home owner, a car owner, a pet owner. I am kind, funny, intelligent, caring and loving. I have a wonderful partner, I see my wider family often and we are very close. I can sail a yacht and have a skippers license. I can ride a horse. I can speak a number of foreign languages and one of those fluently. I am also kind to animals.

If someone chooses to make any sort of judgement about me based on my body hair then they can have at it.. I don't care what they think and I don't care if my legs are hairy. My body hair does not define me.

RainbowsMoonbeams · 05/06/2024 15:12

Yanbu. Men don’t have to worry about these things, and I don’t think women should feel the need to either.

Thesunisanorange · 05/06/2024 15:12

I wouldn’t but I have no issues with others doing it. I have more issues with people who don’t shower/bath and stink out the place. Someone’s leg hair or lack of it doesn’t impact me in the slightest. You could be a woman and have a full beard for all I care 🤷‍♀️

Dartmoorcheffy · 05/06/2024 15:13

No , I just leave them at home..

Seriously, nobody cares, nobody will notice, and if they do..so what? Its not harming anyone.

stressedespresso · 05/06/2024 15:14

Nope, but I have very dark, thick and obvious leg hair which seems to grow back within hours - I envy my blonde friends who can get away without shaving for a week or two!!

DildoHarding · 05/06/2024 15:15

Yes but mine are pretty sparse since chemo. My oxter hair hasn't grown back at all

Ineffable23 · 05/06/2024 15:17

Yeah, all the time. Haven't shaved in maybe a year. I don't really view it as a new low, more a conscious decision to not worry.

PixieTrance89 · 05/06/2024 15:26

Well considering I'm due to have a baby in July and can't even reach to shave and it's been too warm for trousers, yes I have gone out with hairy legs lol

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 05/06/2024 15:28

I don't wear dresses but I don't shave my legs and I go swimming.
Can't think why there would be an issue with it.

ConfusedConfuse · 05/06/2024 15:29

No

Hankunamatata · 05/06/2024 15:30

Nope. But it was something I was bullied for relentlessly at the start of high school so I'm super paranoid.

Precipice · 05/06/2024 15:30

Yes. Always do (at least, in shorts - I don't wear dresses or skirts).

I am an adult mammal and have gone through puberty. Due to this, I have body hair.

Roundroundthegarden · 05/06/2024 15:30

I wouldn't . People would stare and I would care. I just got my hands waxed today oddly enough! I'm dark haired too so it is very , very noticeable.

PinkCardigan93 · 05/06/2024 15:35

I'm a solo parent working three jobs. I sure as hell go out in shorts and skirts with hairy legs!

I would love to shave - but have no time for that! 😂

Topseyt123 · 05/06/2024 15:36

I can't remember the last time I shaved my legs. I just can't be arsed at all and couldn't give a shit what anyone else thinks.

Coastalcreeksider · 05/06/2024 15:38

I just have. 😂

They are very blonde though so they don't really show, well, not unless you were looking at them from about two inches away.

Holidaaaaay · 05/06/2024 15:39

As a PP said, I wouldn't care if anyone else did, wonder if I'd even notice to be honest. But I wouldn't, I hate having hairy legs.

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowItHaveAGin · 05/06/2024 15:41

I don't shave my legs anymore, one of my teen dds hates shaving and felt conscious of her body hair, I spoke to her about embracing it and not giving a shit about others opinions, and then realised that I'm a hypocrite because I don't do that.

Haven't shaved for a couple of years now (and teen dd is very comfortable with her body hair) so job done I guess.

Bringbackthebeaver · 05/06/2024 15:42

I prefer to shave beacuse I have light skin, big calves and dark, stubbly leg hair and if I leave it to grow it just looks a bit more masculine than I like.

It wouldn't stop me leaving the house though. If I had time to shave I would, but it wouldn't be the end of the world. I've often gone swimming with hairy legs because I'm not trying to look my best there, I'm just exercising.

I have some friends who never shave, they have more tanned/ darker skin and it looks nice on them.

burnoutbabe · 05/06/2024 15:42

Have never shaved legs ever. Happy to walk around in shorts (long) if hot.

Why would you see 2 people in shorts and find one grim/disgusting for having hairs on legs but one perfectly okay (being a man)

NailsHairNipsHeels · 05/06/2024 15:44

I wouldn't but that's my personal preference and just scoot the razor over them in the shower of a morning.
I wouldn't notice what anyone else chose to do.
