Would you go out with hairy legs?

In shorts/skirt/dress?

I think I’ve reached a new low.
Since having my Dd I’ve had less time to
spend on myself as I previously did and I’m
less bothered. The other day it was hot, I was short of time and went out in shorts…with hairy legs. I’m a brunette so have quite dark, hairy legs, part of me thought eurgh, but then, ahh cba

Never, I like smooth tanned legs and hide them away otherwise. But that's my own insecurity.
If I saw a well groomed woman out and about with her hairy legs on proud display I'd be in awe of her. I'd think she was cool.

But if I saw an unkempt disheveled woman out with hairy legs I'd feel a bit 🤢
Sorry, but I'd think she was lazy rather than a feminist.

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 05/06/2024 21:19

I haven't shaved/plucked/waxed my legs since I met my husband.

I have no urge to look prepubescent.

I go to the gym regularly and swim/sauna with very hairy legs and armpits. I don't know if anyone notices and I wouldn't mind if they did and questioned me about it.

For me its as simple as looking at the basis for the social norm and then not adhering to it as I just don't believe women should be working to look like they've not gone through puberty and adult humans all have hairy legs. I also find my armpits far, far cleaner and not smelly when they are hairy.

Oblomov24 · 05/06/2024 21:23

I do, but then have very little blonde leg hair and only need to shave occasionally.

LimeCookie · 05/06/2024 21:24

Honestly I think people rarely notice these things as much as we think they do. And personally if I were to notice someone out unshaven and confident, the only thing I would think would be Yes Queen, go for it.

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 05/06/2024 21:25

Yep. Sometimes I go out without removing my PCOS beard too.

britinnyc · 05/06/2024 21:26

I wouldn’t but I don’t care what others too. I have pale skin and thick dark hair and hate the feel of leg hair so I lasered it off, best money I have ever spent, I used to have to shave daily and got really irritated skin from the stubble.

Kokomjolk · 05/06/2024 21:30

Yeah sure. And I do have dark hair so it's noticeable.

I'm not stupid, I know some women will be thinking how gross/slovenly I am. But I don't care what they think and frankly I think the sort of women who judge that kind of thing are vapid idiots, so it's a silent tit for tat I suppose.

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 05/06/2024 21:32

I really really want to say yes. I reset how women are raised to despise our own bodies but I probably wouldn't. If I was exercising I'd wear 3/4 leggings unshaven and I'd go swimming unshaven but otherwise no. I have really ugly legs so I don't show them anyhow it would be just cropped trousers or long skirts with a slit.

MaryFuckingFerguson · 05/06/2024 21:33

No. I wouldn’t dream of it.

ZiriForGood · 05/06/2024 22:12

I do it all the time, I haven't shaven my legs for exactly a year now and another more than year before that. And I definitely don't have very light or blond hair. I haven't noticed anyone noticing, so either people really don't care or they don't dare to care too obviously.

SherrieElmer · 05/06/2024 22:24

Absolutely not.

Jk987 · 05/06/2024 22:35

Had them lasered many years ago - best money I've ever spent!

Goldrill · 05/06/2024 22:41

Wouldn't even occur to me to shave them, and I spend a lot of time in swimming pools and in running shorts.

It makes no sense!

Tuwhituwhoo · 05/06/2024 22:47

Yep.

Copperoliverbear · 05/06/2024 22:59

No 100% can't stand them

SwordToFlamethrower · 05/06/2024 23:04

Legs and pits, yes.

pentangles · 06/06/2024 01:07

Chanelbasketballandchain · 05/06/2024 15:06

I wouldn't care if YOU do.

Personally, no. I don't like it on me. I don't like my hairy armpits either.

That said, I am happy without make-up, some women need to put "their face on" to be seen. As long as you are comfortable, who cares.

Nope, you're not special.
Some women simply enjoy make up, not 'needing to put a face on'. Like some people enjoy jewellery, pot plants and perfume.
But if it helps you feel superior, lol...

Catsmere · 06/06/2024 04:22

Only reason I wouldn't is because I don't wear shorts or short dresses/skirts. I haven't shaved for decades and anyone who has a problem with it is just outing themselves as a sexist nitwit.

CheeseWisely · 06/06/2024 04:33

Generally yes I'd shave them but didn't / couldn't when I was heavily pregnant so I went out in shorts and skirts with hairy legs and somehow the world still turns and I haven't been ostracised from society.

From now I'll probably stick to shaving them for a special occasion / holiday.

StandingMyGround888 · 06/06/2024 04:37

Yes, quite hairy, do it all the time. Otherwise usually a bit glam. Could not care less. They're my legs. If you don't like them, don't look.

Jellybeans20 · 06/06/2024 04:40

I'm also postpartum and have been to the pools without shaving. I don't want to go without hair removal, I'm just otherwise preoccupied. Doesn't mean I'm busy 24/7. No. I just haven't turned my mind to it. I am yet to make under arm hair visible to the general public though and I don't think I could go that far. You do you All the best x

AgathaAllAlong · 06/06/2024 07:35

I do. And it's noticeable because I have dark hair. I also shave or epilate when I feel like it, but I don't see why hair is something to be self conscious about. I'm an adult woman and as such my legs are naturally hairy. Men don't have to pretend to be born hairless, so why should we?

NameNew · 06/06/2024 09:00

I wouldn't go out with hairy legs if they were to be visible. I don't bother doing them everyday, I'm comfortable with about a week's worth of growth for general day to day wear. Dates, nights outs or special occasions, I'd be doing them that day.

Even though I would feel self conscious if they were too hairy, I know I don't notice other women's leg hair so know they wouldn't notice mine. My colleagues and I often compare how long our leg hair has grown.

kcchiefette · 06/06/2024 09:06

I wouldnt, but its just a preference.

I always need my legs, armpits done (they only ever get a bit prickly) and I do my downstairs about 1-2 times a week when I could be bothered lol

I am a very sweaty person so I find armpits are essential, I usually do these 3-4 times a week

KreedKafer · 06/06/2024 10:35

I shave mine, but I don't actually show my bare legs very often anyway. I think they're my worst feature so I'm already a bit self-conscious about them, and on the very rare occasions I wear shorts or a skirt with bare legs I tend to shave and moisturise them in sheer desperation.

However, that's just my personal insecurity. I think I can say hand on heart that I don't really notice other women's body hair habits much at all, and if I do, I don't think anything of it either way. There's absolutely nothing wrong with leaving body hair au naturel!
