Sick of vile vape smoke.

As are all the horrible fumes from everything nowadays... Though, I do agree with you - rather vape smoke than cigarette smoke.

I prefer cigarette smoke to those vapes. I don't think vapers realise how much blows out behind them and into the faces of passers by.

I moved from cigarettes to vaping a few years ago. I keep the sort of vape that generates a minimal plume, neutral flavour with no smell and I still behave like a cigarette smoke when I'm outside and around people i.e. always stay downwind of folk so it's not blowing over them. I'm not a fan of people who assume that because vaping it better than cigarette smoke, they can just blow it everywhere. And there is absolutely no need for those boxy vapes that generate huge clouds.

I agree, so many give off massive plumes and they are really cloying and hang around in the air for such a long time. I’m not a fan of any type of fumes to be fair, including cigarettes and weed, but somehow people seem more oblivious to how their vape smoke affects others maybe because it’s deemed healthier (which for the inhaler it is) but it’s still gross when it’s blowing back into your face with all of its synthetic sweetness, urgh!

I vape, but don't do it in public, nor when I am around others. I can't stand twunts with over-sized vapes who blow the smoke over all and sundry.

My best friend vapes and she, like you is very considerate and doesn't do it in front of people, she stands away if we are out anywhere.I don't mind that at all as you have the choice then if you want to stand near and inhale it.

From a passive smoking perspective, it's much less harmful than cigarette smoke (as it doesn't contain any of the tar particles etc that smoke does) and certainly a lot less harmful than traffic fumes - but I agree some of them do smell really sickly and weird and I hate walking through clouds of the stuff. The only good thing is that the smell doesn't seem to cling to clothes like smoke does.

I hate it and often think cigarette smoke is less offensive than those cloying, synthetic vile stenches. They just look so silly as well, poor fools.

I didn’t say it was. I just find people’a reactions to it really over the top.
I have never smoked or vaped but realise that the general public is quite annoying on the whole, lots of people do loads of things that get on other people’s nerves but we’ve all kind of got to rub along together. You don’t own nor can control public spaces and what people do in them within the confines of the law.

Vaping on Mumsnet is the equivalent of holding down someone else's infant and forcing them to ingest heroin.

It gets really boring, anyone would think we cause global warming. It's only steam with a smell added, it is better than cigarette smoke, most vapers hold the vape in to get a full hit of nicotine & hardly breathe out any steam, the big cloud producers seem to be getting less as the fashion has changed to the smaller set ups.

Agree. Cigarette smoke contains stuff like tar, carbon monoxide, benzene, arsenic and formaldehyde. But because there's no combustion there's none of that in the vapour from vape/e-cigarettes.

I can't stand the sickly smell of some vapes but then I can't stand the sickly smell of some perfumes/body sprays either.

I'm asthmatic and cigarettes, traffic pollution and some perfumes have had me reaching for my inhaler. But I've been in confined spaces with vapers and had no problems at all.

So I'd rather people vaped than smoked. But I wouldn't grumble if they banned some of the flavours!

It's easy to think people are being dramatic when you have no experience of how it affects some people. Cigarette smoke and vape fumes cause me nosebleeds and sinus issues. I literally struggle to breathe in plumes of the smoke/vapour. I wish they were both illegal.

I detest cigarette smoke and, particularly, weed and wish they could be outlawed anywhere that I can smell them, but I don't have much of a problem with vape smell, which I find much more palatable.

One woman claimed she could smell it in a hotel room that had been empty for hours prior to her arrival.

Ditto plug-ins, perfume.

Anything with a smell.

Mumsnet is basically the home for everyone with highly sensitive noses and made up chronic illnesses that mean they can detect the whiff of another person from 6000 yards away.
