It’s bloody everywhere and I’m sick of massive plumes blowing into my kid’s buggy. So bloody selfish. That is all…

So you'd almost rather breathe in cigarette smoke.... which means you wouldn't rather breathe in cigarette smoke.
You're moaning that vaping is better than smoking? 😐

Not exactly, no. You're assuming that not having a preference for one must mean I have a preference for the other. I don't. Both are utterly vile habits. Vaping is not better than smoking. Smoking is not better than vaping.

But it is revolting?

Loads of men-children and women-children everywhere inhaling their candy floss flavoured synthetic vapour deep into their lungs.

We are quite right to bash it as the funny thing here is, the tax payer will have to pick up the tab when they all start claiming PIP for COPD or using NHS services for their self inflicted cancers.

So bloody right!

I was at an arena just before Christmas and there was loads of people vaping, it was gross. I've also smelt it in hotel rooms. I'm not someone who is sensitive to smells either.

I find the entitlement staggering. You couldn't light up in a hotel or at a gig, yet valets seem to think it's ok.

buffyslayer · 23/05/2024 20:18

Auburngal · 23/05/2024 17:03

Some of these vapes are designed for kids. When I womble with my fellow litter wombles, we find no end of vapes. Rainbow Candy, Unicorn Shake, Gummy Bears are not flavours that former smokers want to vape. Plus seen teens vape using vapes that flash different colours.

They are flavours we want - there have been long running threads on here since 2013 about flavour discussion!
A lot of ex smokers want to get away from tobacco flavour so that it's a complete different thing from smoking and also find that they don't like tobacco flavour when they've quit

I vape a custard flavour 99% of the time

ReadingSoManyThreads · 23/05/2024 20:32

nupnup · 23/05/2024 17:25

Completely agree!

As if passive vape WAYER VAPOUR / STEAM causes nose bleeds 😂😂😂

It's the chemicals in the vapour that cause the nose bleeds. You're lucky you don't have experience with it, and I'm not imagining my nose bleeds. My ENT Consultant doesn't find it funny either - you cheeky prick.

DemBonesDemBones · 23/05/2024 20:36

Seriously get a grip!

Springtimewingtime · 23/05/2024 20:36

Synthetic smells make me gag so yes agree vapes are gross, see also really strong plug ins, air fresheners, laundry beads etc. All make me heave.

RaininSummer · 23/05/2024 20:40

My bus stop is outside a vape shop and their door is always wide open. Each night I feel I am asphyxiating in a fug of stink. So tempted to tell them shut their door and stop polluting the street. I hate vapes so much.

DemBonesDemBones · 23/05/2024 20:45

@ReadingSoManyThreads I genuinely laughed out loud when you made the nosebleed claim. Absolute nonsense.

HateMyNewJobSoMuch · 23/05/2024 20:46

It’s completely selfish and disgusting.

I shower in the morning to go into work feeling clean and fresh - not stinking of vapes.

I take a “long cut” walking to work to avoid hot spots (such as outside the bus station). If the wind is going a particular way it’s all the worse.

I think people would take exception to me spraying air fresheners or perfumes around however somehow vaping is okay?

Not to mention the awful plastic mess people leave behind.

If it were up to me I’d ban it and smoking in all public places (indoors and outdoors).

Thanks for laughing at a medical condition that has plagued my whole life. My ENT Consultant thankfully knows it's not "absolute nonsense". Jeez, what a sad individual you are, laughing at someone's medical issues.

Iloveburgerswaymorethanishould · 23/05/2024 21:11

I agree and I vape…. Im
desperate to stop. Never smoked in my
lodw then got addicted to the awful things… posts like this re enforce my want to stop.
Mad that something designed to help smokers stop or cut down, has made a whole new generation of “smokers!”.

Blackcats7 · 23/05/2024 21:17

It is horrible that something that was supposedly an aid to stopping smoking has become enormous amongst young people and children. I have a young friend at university who tells me almost everybody she knows vapes and were never smokers to start with. She says the perfumes / favours and colours are a huge part of making it so attractive.
I think these things should only be sold in chemists as a way to stop smoking without flavours or bright colours.
There is also the issue of the used vapes being left as litter.

Oh dear, what hostile response! Maybe your attitude towards others and their reaction to being called a cunt is the reason for many of your nosebleeds.

May I ask what ‘necessary’ tests your ENT Consultant has executed to investigate the cause of your Epistaxis? Surely they’ve offered cauterisation?

DemBonesDemBones · 23/05/2024 21:24

@ReadingSoManyThreads I'd never laugh at a genuine medical issue. This, as you know, is absolute nonsense.

Panpastels · 23/05/2024 21:25

I don't vape but I love the smell of the fruity ones!

Yes. Yes they are.

exhales huge cloud of Grape & Strawberry Candy flavour vapour

Very few adult vapers want to use tobacco flavours, most people think thats what they'll vape when they give up the fags and they try it for a short while and go off it pretty rapidly in favour of the sweet/fruit/candy/cake flavours.

To answer a few other points, I forget who made them:

'Im allergic to the flavourings'

you're allergic to all the flavours? Really, every single one? Wow. Because each flavour has different ingredients, all of which originate in the food industry, you must really struggle to eat anything.

Possibly you're allergic to one of the two base carriers in vapes, Propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin - both are safe and common food additives (and are found in many more products beyond food).

It's disgusting breathing in what someone else has breathed out

I can't really help you there - stop breathing in public places, invest in a plastic bubble to live in, wear a filtration mask and breath only filtered air?

Everywhere you go, you're breathing in what someone else breathed out, and more and much worse. You're breathing in the gas that comes out of peoples arses (and cat farts, dog farts, cow farts... so many farts) the exhaust fumes from yours and other peoples cars, planes, helicopters, boats and trains. Any time you're stuck in a room with other humans you're breathing in some of what they breathed out. There is no escape from this.

Vapers do not cause you to breath in more of this disgusting stuff, they just let you see that little portion that you're breathing in. If everything we churn out into our atmosphere came with a neat coloured cloud so we could see it... welllll.. ew.

It's worse than cigarette smoke

No. It isn't. Public Health Englands study into vaping and examination of multiple studies showed that for the secondary inhaler, ie you judgey grumpy non-vapers - it is absolutely, categorically, better than cigarette smoke.

The jury is out on whether its 100% safe for the primary user, me, the common, unclassy, disgusting vaper - but thats fine, we are well aware of that. It is still safer than smoking.

nupnup · 23/05/2024 21:28

@Wheelyfembot I laughed at your response, what an absolute joke.

As if second hand vapour causes nose bleeds and a consultant has confirmed this! So much handwringing.

And no @ReadingSoManyThreads I don't really care about the condition as you're calling people cunts.
I presume you don't get in hot baths, or wear deodorants or hairspray.

Or is it just the pink lemonade elf bar that does the trick.

On the list of things that didn't happen...

MaryFuckingFerguson · 23/05/2024 21:31

I have a colleague that vapes. Its nowhere near as repulsive as cigarette smoke, but it’s a very unpleasant, cloying smell that lingers. He’s constantly embarrassed about it.

WearyAuldWumman · 23/05/2024 21:32

Errors · 23/05/2024 15:43

I didn’t say it was. I just find people’a reactions to it really over the top.
I have never smoked or vaped but realise that the general public is quite annoying on the whole, lots of people do loads of things that get on other people’s nerves but we’ve all kind of got to rub along together. You don’t own nor can control public spaces and what people do in them within the confines of the law.

Well, vaping does make me feel ill.

Years ago, I was told that I have an allergic reaction to secondary smoking. When I got home and delivered the doctor's verdict, my dad - God bless him - stopped smoking on the spot. (That was 45 years ago.)

I'm assuming that my reaction to secondary vaping is similar.

cakewitch · 23/05/2024 21:35

It's just steam.. that's all.. and most household air fresheners smell much much worse
