Do you wear make up when boarding a plane?

I’m going on holiday soon and it’s my first time flying. I usually wear make up everyday and want to wear make up on a 5 hour flight. I’ve read make up should be avoided on planes due to drying the skin out. Does anyone else wear make when on a plane or is it it best to avoid?

I've always worn makeup - never really thought about it.

I don't wear makeup the rest of the time, so I wouldn't put it on just to go on a plane.

I do try to plaster myself in brutally expensive moisturiser from the testers in Duty Free to counter the dry air, though 😀

Yes I just do as normal, never had an issue.

Always do and never a problem. You could always just buy a moisturising facial spritz/spray to keep your skin refreshed on-board.

I wear makeup every day, so would wear it on a plane.

It's true it's quite a dry environment, so make sure you put on plenty of moisturiser beforehand, and maybe take one of those hydration sprays to use during the flight.

A bit of mascara and lipstick.

If I happen to be wearing make up when I get on the plane, yes. Honestly, never thought about it. Sometimes I wear make up, sometimes I don't. I've never noticed any difference on a plane and never felt like my skin was any different either way. Drink lots of water when you're travelling, you'll be fine.

Yes as I wear it everyday. Only changes I make are using a good facial spritz every couple of hours whilst in the air and applying a serum and more moisturiser than normal before bed in destination.

Thank you so much for the responses. It’s just that I’ve read everywhere to avoid wearing. Don’t want to not wear it and not look my best when I land on holiday. X

Honesty no one will be looking at you, but as someone else said, the key point is the cabin crew all wear it.

also you can apply just before you land.

Nope. Tracksuit, hair in scrunchie, tons of moisturiser, eye mask, ear plugs.

Yes, but lighter than normal. I bring a facial spray also that I use throughout the flight.

Not if it's a 3am flight or the like, for me.

I would for a 5hr flight at a regular time of day.

No it depends. Short flight during the day? Yes.
Flight arriving late at night/middle of night? No.
11-12 hr flight (plus the associated travel to/from airport, connecting flights etc) - no.

For 5 hours it’s just like a long bus or train ride so I don’t do anything different. On my annual trip down under it’s 24 hours travelling time so I start with a bare face and loads of moisturiser and then put on make up in final few hours so I arrive feeling a bit more alive.

I don't. Don't give a damn what I look like after a flight, I'll be showering when I get to the hotel anyway so no point.

I think its ok to though as DD wears it on flights, I have never heard you shouldn't

Everyone arrives looking a bit sweaty and odd off a flight

Take deoderant, a nice fresh scented body spray, a hair brush and something like Dr PawPaw gel and use that to give your self a bit of a freshen up in the plane toiletjust before landing or at the airport.

I don't ever wear make up and imagine that wearing it on a plane would be especially uncomfortable.

Why do you need to "look your best" when you get off the plane? No one else will care.

Depends. If I’m going to sleep, night flight and bed when I get there then no.
I too indulge in the duty free goodness.

If we will be having lunch or dinner then I do pop some make up on, plus I’m anxious we will miss the flight so although I go to bed I don’t sleep. I have a full on shower, blow dry, straighten or curl, and make up as I am awake for hours prior!
