Do you wear make up when boarding a plane?

I’m going on holiday soon and it’s my first time flying. I usually wear make up everyday and want to wear make up on a 5 hour flight. I’ve read make up should be avoided on planes due to drying the skin out. Does anyone else wear make when on a plane or is it it best to avoid?

Only on work travel when I know my colleagues are on the same flight! My face feels grimy after travelling all day and having make up on makes it worse. But I don't think it actually affects my skin, just feels nasty.

That's why I don't wear any when flying as well.

Thank you so much for the responses. It’s just that I’ve read everywhere to avoid wearing. Don’t want to not wear it and not look my best when I land on holiday. X

Sorry but are you expecting a welcome committee? Or are you going to be that one annoying person snapping selfies of yourself at every stage of the boarding process? I promise you, nobody cares. Turn your phone off and enjoy the holiday instead

No.

I just put on what I usually wear but I don't use much more than tinted moisturiser, lipstick and eye shadow anyway.

A five hour flight will be fine. A long haul night flight I might not bother with makeup really.

I dont wear any make-up at all.

Imisssleep2 · 24/05/2024 21:44

I've never heard this or given it a seconds thought, just do what you normally do. I have never noticed my skiing being drier than usual after a flight

snowlady4 · 24/05/2024 21:58

I don't wear mascara on long haul flights as I find I get really dry eyes. But short flights where I won't be planning on snoozing- yes, full makeup for me!

I love to get dressed up for a plane journey. Your skin will dry out regardless.

I just want to be comfortable on a plane. My skin doesn't dry out.

It would never cross my mind to wear makeup when flying 😄

Famfirst · 25/05/2024 20:53

I can promise you that no one will notice or care what you look like on the plane, when you land, in the airport or anywhere. Judy forget the makeup and enjoy your holiday

Nevermind31 · 25/05/2024 20:56

Wear whatever you like. So many people get on planes on fashionable but uncomfortable clothing and full make up.
personally I don’t care what I look like when I land as long as I am comfortable on the flight and get some sleep in…

underpresha · 25/05/2024 21:02

You skin isn’t going to dry out much on a five hour flight. It’s a myth to sell moisturiser that loads of people fall for.

dressagediva84 · 27/05/2024 09:36

I don't leave the house without makeup so absolutely yes and it's not a problem. Contact lenses drying out are the main issue on flights.

MrsErrorKaru · 27/05/2024 16:57

Never hear of not wearing makeup when Flying. I don't wear any makeup anyway .

Bowies · 01/06/2024 14:17

No I wear a moisturising ‘mask’ (it’s just a long lasting moisturising cream) in lieu of make up.

I’d rather my skin was in good condition (for my holiday) than wearing make up during the flight. I might apply some before getting off.

It seems you want to wear make up though and plenty of people do, so do that.
