To request my complimentary stay after all these years

I had a really disappointing stay at a hotel about 10 years ago. When I complained to the manager, she was really apologetic and offered me a complimentary 3 night stay as a gesture of goodwill and to give them the opportunity to show me the usual quality of their product.

For various reasons, I never went back to her to arrange the complimentary stay.

AIBU to contact her now after 10 years to redeem my freebie? If so, how should I word the email request? I’ve checked that the same manager is still in charge at the hotel.

🤣

purpleme12 · 17/05/2024 18:58

Have you got it in writing?
Is there an end date on it?

Barleysugar86 · 17/05/2024 18:58

I mean you could try- if it's the same manager and you forwarded the same email back she might just be surprised enough to agree!

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 17/05/2024 18:59

You really really would be unreasonable to do that.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/05/2024 18:59

I think after 10
Years, you are taking the mick!

Precipice · 17/05/2024 18:59

YANBU to request it, but I wouldn't feel certain about it being honoured.

I have a voucher for a shop from six years ago for £70. I keep wondering whether I can do it. It's a small independent

Kedece2410 · 17/05/2024 19:00

Good luck with that

Think you're going into CF territory there though

Yes, I still have the email and there is no end date stipulated.

That sounds very embarrassing. Do it and let us know what happens!

Ah well do it then

ElsieandMavis · 17/05/2024 19:01

I don’t want to be a CF

🤣 exactly what I was hoping

Bendyblue · 17/05/2024 19:01

You could try, nothing ventured nothing gained and all that but it is a bit cheeky!

MinistryOfTragic · 17/05/2024 19:01

I'd expect someone to take me up on that offer within 12 months. 10 years?? PLEASE do ask and let us know what they say, I'm dying to know how this will go.

Londonscallingme · 17/05/2024 19:02

I’d give it a crack and make a joke of it, you never know!

Whatthefuckwasthat · 17/05/2024 19:02

Following as I want to know the outcome!

😂 so why are you even considering it?

YorkNew · 17/05/2024 19:03

It’s worth a try.

nocoolnamesleft · 17/05/2024 19:03

I admit, I'm wondering if this is a totally bemused hotel manager doing a reverse.

bloodyplumbing · 17/05/2024 19:03

Well god loves a trier!

LookAtThatCritter · 17/05/2024 19:03

I mean... if it's the same manager I'd give it a try. The worst they can do is say no?

AtrociousCircumstance · 17/05/2024 19:03

Try, why not?

ElsieandMavis · 17/05/2024 19:03

Any suggestions about how to word it to minimise the degree of CF-ery?

I mean worst they can say is no but I would assume it would be a no!
