To request my complimentary stay after all these years

ElsieandMavis · 17/05/2024 18:57

I had a really disappointing stay at a hotel about 10 years ago. When I complained to the manager, she was really apologetic and offered me a complimentary 3 night stay as a gesture of goodwill and to give them the opportunity to show me the usual quality of their product.

For various reasons, I never went back to her to arrange the complimentary stay.

AIBU to contact her now after 10 years to redeem my freebie? If so, how should I word the email request? I’ve checked that the same manager is still in charge at the hotel.

I think their lack of response is poor customer service.
I'd ask for some more compensation Grin

Very poor customer service to keep me waiting for over two weeks for a response. Time is of the essence.

Yeah. You ain't getting no free stay, lady.

There's only one thing left to do. Book another night and show up at her door, angrily wagging your finger with one hand and flapping the email print-out with the other.

Maybe they will reply in 10 years time.

"Time is of the essence"

Love it 😁

blue345 · 03/06/2024 17:29

I too am firmly disappointed. We can't have an anticlimactic damp squib of no reply. Of course a ballsy last resort is to turn up with suitcases packed for your free stay...

Can you send a follow up email complaining about their tardy response and explaining that poor customer service was part of the reason for your original complaint. Since you’ve been given the same treatment yet again, you assume they’ll be extending an additional complimentary nights stay by way of apology.

Skeldale · 03/06/2024 17:50

I bet she waits 10 years to reply to you as she just had lots of annual leave to take!

Ellie56 · 03/06/2024 17:50

@ElsieandMavis

Maybe while on annual leave the esteemed manager decided she has had enough of the job and especially the CFs that she encounters on a regular basis, and has handed in her notice.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 03/06/2024 18:39

Firstly I’d name & shame them OP for their appalling customer service, and then boycott them!

Still no response? I’d forward it to the main reservation line.

it is cringe though, but you never know, they didn’t put an end date on it so,,

Theweepywillow · 04/06/2024 09:18

Also if you stay at a time where they have low uptake it basically costs them nothing but cleaning costs,,

calishire · 21/06/2024 14:42

I believe the manager has made a note in her diary to reply. 1st June 2034.

That's shocking. You need at least a week's stay in compensation now.

I think, for your sake and ours, that now is the time to threaten them with legal.

I'm just saying. 😄
