For those with access to a garden.
Do you like pottering or relaxing in the garden on a day like today?
Do like to go out

sometimes but.....
You need shade when out which you can't always find and you've got to think or Food and Drink.
Everything's at hand in the garden.
Anyone doing this today rather than going out.
#garden
#chillout
#sunshine.

Now I don't have small children to entertain I'd rather chill in the garden on warm days, especially at the weekend. Every man and their dog are out cramming into parks and pubs. I'll have peace and quiet thanks!
(Having said that I did visit a few pub gardens yesterday and everywhere was surprisingly quiet 🤷🏻‍♀️)

100% staying at home pottering in the garden, lying in the hammock for a bit, then more pottering, then inside to cool down, back outside.....and repeat!

Calliecarpa · 11/05/2024 11:39

I'm pottering in my garden today too 😊

socks1107 · 11/05/2024 11:40

I love pottering about at home on warm days. Clean house in the morning and then relax in the garden until late evening. It's so nice

Octavia64 · 11/05/2024 11:42

Love pottering in my garden

Dahliasinallotment · 11/05/2024 11:43

Garden. The small child is pottering in the mud kitchen.

the teenagers have found swim spots.

Screamingabdabz · 11/05/2024 11:44

Yes love it! All inclusive and no smokers, vapers, loud fuckers, screaming kids or dogs.

LaPalmaLlama · 11/05/2024 11:45

I’m lucky to have a sandy beach at the end of the road so I’ll do a bit of garden today but will head down there mid afternoon for a swim and maybe a few beers on the beach.

Eviebeans · 11/05/2024 11:46

Definitely pottering in the garden
shopping done early this morning
hanging washing on the line to dry
looked after grandson for a couple of hours
eating in the garden later on

fridaynight1 · 11/05/2024 11:46

I’m team potter.

BeachHutsAndDeckchairs · 11/05/2024 11:46

Yea I love it. I like the sound of lawnmowers and strimmers as well as the children squealing and the birds singing. Dh cut the grass yesterday and the starlings and blackbirds have gone mad looking for the ants and worms etc that were disturbed and I've been sitting here just watching them. We have a glorified shed summerhouse because I don't like sitting in the full sunshine and it's my favourite place in the world.

moonlight1705 · 11/05/2024 11:48

I've got a small child and still plan to potter. We'll do a bit of gardening but she can play on her outdoor toys and we will enjoy sitting with a glass of something cool 😎

Luckily the house has a porch on the front and is lovely and shaded at this time of day.

crosspatchdownthehatch · 11/05/2024 11:48

100% garden sure isn’t this what we wait all year for! Until my neighbour gets his petrol leaf blower out right at the most peaceful part of the day of course WHY

tsmainsqueeze · 11/05/2024 11:49

On a hot day when i'm off work if i really need to go out to get food etc i go very early and then the day is mine i potter around the garden or sit in my summerhouse then come inside in the cool ,patio doors wide open listening to the birds.
So much more relaxing then going out in a hot car and mixing with crowds of people , no thank you !
Actually the older i get i think i'd rather spend time like this than going away on holiday.

Eze · 11/05/2024 11:49

I do like going out but I can no longer afford it so I’m pottering in my garden. Much more chilled isn’t it

TwelveAngryWhiskers · 11/05/2024 11:50

Yes, but I can't afford to live somewhere with a garden. I have a balcony fortunately but it only gets sun in the morning. I do go to the park but it's so busy and I find it difficult to relax because there's a dog in your face every 5 minutes and I'm allergic. I got my face licked recently and I've had my bag pissed on Angry

I feel trapped in the summer, it's the main reason I don't like it. If I had a garden I'd feel very differently.

I had that all day yesterday. Utterly fucking stupid, it's the height of human idiocy. Aside from the noise pollution and the fact they're completely unnecessary, they disrupt the ecosystem and they're a health hazard. The particulates hang around in the air for ages:

https://www.barrington.ri.gov/DocumentCenter/View/1228/The-unintended-consequences-of-leaf-blowers?bidId=#:~:text=Particulate%20matter%3A%20Blowers%20emit%20particulates,stroke%2C%20arrhythmia%20and%20heart%20failure.

In some parts of the world, and I think in one county in the UK, they're banned. Fucking menaces.

mynewusername2023 · 11/05/2024 11:54

Been put in my garden since 9am, reading a book and scrolling. I hate moving too much in hot weather so I'm more than happy to chill at home. DH and I are very much homebody people.

zebranotzeebra · 11/05/2024 11:56

I don't have a garden yet but this is what I dream of on a sunny day! Enjoy your garden, I'm envious!

BlueRidgeMountain · 11/05/2024 12:03

garden for me. What irritates me is the expectation lots of people have that as soon as it’s nice weather everyone has to be out and about “enjoying it”. Then I get told I’m wasting the nice weather being at home in the garden 🙄

Riverlee · 11/05/2024 12:07

Sometimes I haven’t remind myself to sit and enjoy the garden, rather to be doing something.

Q124 · 11/05/2024 12:09

When people say pottering, what is actually meant by this?

MrsSkylerWhite · 11/05/2024 12:11

Much prefer privacy in the garden.

we’re moving soonish to our top floor flat with big balcony. Looking forward to that even more.

mitogoshi · 11/05/2024 12:13

Don't mind my garden BUT my garden doesn't have crisps, peanuts, food, cask beer ... the pub does! Off to pub circa 4pm but washing needs to be dry and ironed first (incentives you see)

DanielGault · 11/05/2024 12:13

Totally prefer the garden. Food/drink/toilet all easily accessible. Nobody too close to annoy me 😂
