Vegan wedding

Would it be asshole-ish of me to smuggle babybels in my handbag?

The menu looks very tiny, and I don't intend to eat it in front of anyone, just find a dark corner. It's the only meal at the whole event.

I did think of peperami but it's vile and stinky.

Just take some bourbons or some jammie dodgers if you don’t like the food.

Runningbird43 · 05/05/2024 14:40

How can a menu “look tiny”?

DrJoanAllenby · 05/05/2024 14:41

I'm a vegetarian and find my vegetarian and vegan dishes very filling.

Sounds like you are a glutton.

bravefox · 05/05/2024 14:42

Crisps are vegan

Crisps are vegan

Many are not, they often contain milk.

A lot of crisps however are vegan.

Who would have thought that Walkers prawn cocktail, roast chicken and smoky bacon are actually vegan…

I also really want some crisps now.

Jessforless · 05/05/2024 14:46

Nobody is so addicted to animal products that they couldn’t skip them at one event.

I eat meat but vegan food can be amazing, give it a chance.

SocksAndTheCity · 05/05/2024 14:46

I'm not vegan and I love a Babybel, but I wouldn't either.

If you're worried have a big breakfast but if you've just decided that a vegan meal is going to be inadequate or insubstantial for no reason other than it's vegan then YABVU. Some of the best meals out I've had in the last few years were at vegan restaurants and I've never left feeling that anything was 'missing'.

You can shoehorn an insult into anything.

welshycake · 05/05/2024 14:47

@Babysharkdoodoodood - I've solved it! They make VEGAN BABYBELL

SmallIslander · 05/05/2024 14:48

It's nobody's business what snacks you carry in your handbag. Take what you want, and eat them discretely. Don't understand the comments so far on this thread.

Ioverslept · 05/05/2024 14:48

Better take some nuts and bananas

Prawncow · 05/05/2024 14:49

How does a menu look tiny?

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 05/05/2024 14:49

Yes, YABU.

Eat a large breakfast, go to the wedding and then eat your dinner as a polite adult and say ‘thank you’ when you’ve finished.

Vegan food isn’t poisonous. And it’s more filling.

You can get vegan baby bels now but opinion seems to be a bit divided as to whether they are good or not. I personally love them but a lot of people think they’re vile.

Either way plenty of snacks are accidentally vegan so even if the OP doesn’t like the menu she could still bring a ‘normal’ snack without causing too much of a stir. A baby bel seems an odd choice and almost like she is trying to cause an argument.

Pistachiovillian · 05/05/2024 14:50

Another one who needs to see the menu.
But YABU op.

Snacks, fine, weddings can be a long day.
A snack that goes against the belief system of your host is just twattish. Just don't. There are plenty of vegan snacks available nowadays. Google is your friend.

SuuzeeeQ · 05/05/2024 15:03

I have never seen the menu before a Wedding. I am sure you will get enough food!

Omg you remind me of me. I’m having to do an elimination diet at the moment which has rendered me basically vegan. It’s horrendous 🙈 I cannot explain how horrendous it is. Definitely take the cheese and do some secret eating ♥️

Lol

NoTouch · 05/05/2024 15:08

Big breakfast with lots of protein to see you through the day.

Get an Uber to deliver a McDonalds for you (and the rest of the starving guests) later to a side door and eat it outside😉

Take umbrellas incase it is raining.

NoTouch · 05/05/2024 15:10

Having a "belief system" that you inflict on others, making them uncomfortable, is twattish.

spookehtooth · 05/05/2024 15:14

These kinds of posts always confuse me! Every time I tried organizing meals at vegan restaurants it was bloody omnivores showing up 😂None of the fellow vegans in the social group could make them in the end, the very folk who I thought would like them most. Then I meet folk who insist they simply cannot go a meal, not even a day with no animals-based consumption.

Its totally irrational. Our history, and therefore our biology is much more tightly bound up with plants. Its only relatively recently that our diet isn't one with minimal meat and dairy. Lack of fridges for one, and also lack of drugs to allow animals to be farmed in such large numbers, tightly packed into smaller spaces than they need to live healthily. Maybe if we were evolved from cats or some other obligate carnivores ... but we're not!

Fears · 05/05/2024 15:14

How pathetic to start a thread on this. I think it’s just a way to try to get everyone bashing vegans. 🙄

In the unlikely event that you’re a genuine poster, and you were to do what you say which is to take babybel and then eat them discretely, then no one would know so why are you asking?

Clearly made up. How sad.

SillyLemonZebra · 05/05/2024 15:15

Halzie · 05/05/2024 14:27

I think we are living in crazy times where people would get their back up so much about a babybel at a wedding.

This. Thank you. I was thinking the same. I think the notion of a little red cheese (usually for kids) was actually used to make the post funny. ♥️
