To be horrified this happens in the uk every day?

www.landofhopeandglory.org

I genuinely tried so hard to watch this but I am physically unable to. It is absolutely unbelievable.

It is horrifying and heartbreaking that animals are going through this in order for humans to be able to eat meat, eggs and dairy.

To anyone who eats these things, this is where it comes from.

not clicking on the link, so maybe you would like to explain what it is you are complaining about?

EggcornAcorn · 23/04/2024 13:56

I don't know why this is shocking.

RadoxMoon · 23/04/2024 13:57

Is this vegan propaganda again?

BaconCozzers · 23/04/2024 13:58

I'm not gonna click on a random link op, nor will most people. You'll have to type your vegan rant out yourself if you want people to engage much...

Meadowfinch · 23/04/2024 13:58

You'll have to be more specific.

I eat eggs, meat and dairy. I live in a house on a dairy farm and the farm manager spend more time tending to his prize friesians that he spends with his dcs. 🙂

Eggs come from next door - very free range. Lamb comes from the man who cuts my hair (and keeps sheep).

So maybe you can explain what the issue is. Without generalising.

OhmygodDont · 23/04/2024 13:59

I’m not clicking.

but yes animals die for us to eat them, animals are killed shocker even for good harvest of fruit and vegetables. The animals that we eat would just be zoo side shows if we all went vegan.

Charlie2121 · 23/04/2024 14:01

It’s vegan nonsense.

I eat meat, lots of it, and will continue to do so. If others prefer not to that is entirely up to them.

lightinthebox · 23/04/2024 14:01

I’m not going to watch something after being told it’s disturbing and awful. Perhaps explain the video instead of copying and pasting from a website?

Im not going to defend my eating dairy and meat, I have stopped eating beef for environmental reasons and prefer oat milk. Shaming people’s food choices is not ok.

BouleDeSuif · 23/04/2024 14:03

I know where it comes from. I grew up on a smallholding surrounded by small farms. It hasn't ever put me off.

Meadowfinch · 23/04/2024 14:05

To be fair, I recently tried a week as a vegetarian, inspired by a foreign exchange student. I managed 7 days, but I was constantly hungry & reaching for the biscuits. I certainly ate a lot more carbs.

So for environmental reasons, I'm going to try to eat veggie two days a week, as my contribution.

gano · 23/04/2024 14:06

I really can't get worked up about it.

SeanBeansMealDeal · 23/04/2024 14:08

As PP says, animals do have to die for us to eat them - but their lifetime welfare and method of dispatch varies enormously.

It's completely false logic to say that, if one provider treats their animals cruelly, then that is how all providers do for everybody who eats meat or dairy. Dairy especially; how can you compare hens kept in tiny barbaric little cages with those who can freely roam a big field and barn, with their keepers simply picking up and making use of all the eggs that they lay and discard?

Some parents never actually talk to their children and are constantly screaming and swearing at them, all day long; but that doesn't mean that, by choosing to have a child (whom I do not treat this way), I am in any way perpetuating and am part of this problem.

Desecratedcoconut · 23/04/2024 14:11

You know, vegans could probably persuade people to eat less meat, eggs and dairy for health benefits alone but it's just too boring compared to raving about how awful people are and signalling your moral virtue, isn't it?

BetteDavisChin · 23/04/2024 14:15

I've seen the video before. I'm with you, op. Unfortunately, posting this here is not going to get you the response you were hoping for. People just don't care.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/04/2024 14:20

I was prepared to give ita go, but the link's to some "Facebook video" you have to give your details to watch - no doubt so you can be bombarded with more propaganda

No thanks

mrlistersgelfbride · 23/04/2024 14:22

I've been vegetarian for nearly a decade including spells as a vegan and pescatarian.
I don't want to watch that video.

Most of my friends and family are meat eaters. One thing I've learnt is you can't make people be veggie or vegan if they don't want to. No amount of preaching or animal slaughtering videos will make people not want to eat meat.

Labourarepartoftheproblem · 23/04/2024 14:24

Whatever. No idea what nonsense this is, but it's not putting me off my egg sarnie!

SerenChocolateMuncher · 23/04/2024 14:27

I have no intention of clicking on your tedious vegan propaganda link (if that is what it is), but I will tell you that nothing can persuade me to eat disgusting over-processed vegan shite instead of food I enjoy.

IvorTheEngineDriver · 23/04/2024 14:31

It happens all over the world OP.

AlwaysGinPlease · 23/04/2024 14:33

Sadly Op, a lot of people don't care. I have been vegan for decades. They're devoid of empathy and without a moral compass. A lot of them hate vegans so much because deep down they know it's wrong what goes on and they say oh we buy free range etc but they prefer to bury that and lash out at the very people that mean no harm. They'll say things like oh but they enjoy bacon , cheese. Let them enjoy the various illnesses that go with animal consumption. Flame away. I don't care.

SuzetteDeFarcey · 23/04/2024 14:33

I’m vegetarian. Love a bit of cheese. Are you saying that’s bad? Also not clicking on link.

If only somebody would invent an appliance to keep food cold and fresh, right?

It is fine to continue to eat meat - but surely we should all demand that those that rear and kill these animals do so as humanely as possible.

I doubt "rotting flesh" tastes nice, but I couldn't say for sure, because I've never tried it. On the other hand I know for certain that vegan shite tastes awful, because I have tried it and it's disgusting.
