I genuinely tried so hard to watch this but I am physically unable to. It is absolutely unbelievable.

It is horrifying and heartbreaking that animals are going through this in order for humans to be able to eat meat, eggs and dairy.

To anyone who eats these things, this is where it comes from.

Many people don't want to face the reality of where the meat on their plate comes from. They get defensive and the insults start flying.
We all have to make our own choices about what we can accept in life.

Minfilia · 23/04/2024 14:41

It is indeed vegan propaganda. I think it was first thrust at me in about 2019.

I still eat meat/dairy though. Although I have cut down on meat.

Mm the taste of rotting flesh is so much better hey 🙄

I mean it’s not normally eaten actually rotten but if that’s how you had it no wonder you didn’t like it 😂😂

Fresh is preferred, got no problem help butcher an animal either didn’t find any rotten meat while doing it though. Maybe in a zombie apocalypse I’ll give it a shot tho 😅

KnittedCardi · 23/04/2024 14:43

I would gladly watch a balanced and well researched documentary on animal husbandry in the UK. A vegan propaganda film, with pre-declared narrative, selective examples, and a fixed agenda portraying only the worst of farming, no.

Sadly Op, a lot of people don't care. I have been vegan for decades. They're devoid of empathy and without a moral compass. A lot of them hate vegans so much because deep down they know it's wrong what goes on and they say oh we buy free range etc but they prefer to bury that and lash out at the very people that mean no harm. They'll say things like oh but they enjoy bacon , cheese. Let them enjoy the various illnesses that go with animal consumption. Flame away. I don't care.

Now you know you're being daft, stop it. The vast majority of the population are not devoid of a moral compass just because they are not vegan, if that were true humanity would be more fucked than it is.

Also on a practical note, shouting people down and insulting them from the off is not going to change any minds if that's your aim,.or is it just to congratulate yourself on your marvellousness?

Agree with a pp, efforts would be far better spent persuading people to eat less meat/dairy, and it would have a far bigger impact.

OhmygodDont · 23/04/2024 14:46

I mean I’ve tried all bar the dog and cat… knowingly. Dogs and cats would again be fair game tho in a zombie apocalypse. Love a bit of ostrich and crocodile too. Kangaroo is nice if cooked right.

I'm vegan but I don't agree with bashing people over the head with propaganda

Progress not perfection is probably the name of the game.

So if you can educate someone to maybe go for high welfare beef or chicken or consider where they might get cruelty free eggs, then great. And if you can't - then whatever. We all have free choice

However I don't agree with posters on here being deliberately awful though.

After all, surely none of you want animals in pain?

I'm with you OP, I'm a life long vegan and not clicking on a random link, but it is a vile trade all the same.
Everyone to their own, I don't judge what others want to eat. I, however, object to people giving me a tough time over my choices though.
We are not all placard waving and wanting to change the world.

lightinthebox · 23/04/2024 14:49

The scale on the vegan bill board really bothers me!

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 23/04/2024 14:51

I eat and enjoy meat, dairy and eggs and I know where they come from.

AlfrescoPotato · 23/04/2024 14:53

For everytime somebody tries to ram Vegan crap down my throat, I take another step further back from ever considering it.

My eggs are from my own poultry & all my meat is from within 4/5 miles of my house (often much nearer) and I know the majority of the farmers. I don’t feel one ounce of guilt.

What is your stance on all the animals displaced to grow crop or vegetables? Or do you survive on self righteous alone?

The scale on the vegan bill board really bothers me!

I'd love a tiny cow that was only marginally bigger than a cat. I promise not to eat it 😁

lightinthebox · 23/04/2024 14:01

I’m not going to watch something after being told it’s disturbing and awful. Perhaps explain the video instead of copying and pasting from a website?

Im not going to defend my eating dairy and meat, I have stopped eating beef for environmental reasons and prefer oat milk. Shaming people’s food choices is not ok.

I’m not vegan or vegetarian but you might want to read a bit about oat milk. General consensus is that unless you’re lactose intolerant regular milk is much better nutritionally and environmentally.

Palladin · 23/04/2024 14:56

For all those you can't be bothered to get worked up about the immense pain suffered by billions of farm animals every year:
There is (or should be) a wide middle ground between veganism and extremely cruel factory farming practices.
It's very easy to cut down on meat and dairy consumption and choose high welfare products instead - costs the same and is healthier, too.

Would make more sense to eat the cats and dogs over that tiny pig 😂 I do love a good fluffy cow though they are so cute.

I doubt "rotting flesh" tastes nice, but I couldn't say for sure, because I've never tried it. On the other hand I know for certain that vegan shite tastes awful, because I have tried it and it's disgusting.

All “vegan shite”?

so you don’t like salad? Fruit? Potatoes? Rice? Pasta? Bread? Veg? Grains such as barley, buckwheat, couscous, quinoa? What about baked beans, kidney beans, chickpeas- which are a good protein source for the pp who said they don’t eat protein on a veggie diet.

none of it? Because that’s all vegan you know.

i’ll give you that commercial vegan food eg. In restaurants is shite as it’s aimed at meat eaters. So you’ll get shitty fake meat with even worse “sheeze”. Add to that the vegan option now covers all else so it will be gluten free, nut free etc, I haven’t met a chef yet who can come up with something decent. My local pub is meat, meat, meat, and lasagne with fake meat and fake cheese. Nope.

BiggerBoat1 · 23/04/2024 15:08

No wonder vegans don't bother eating cows if they think they're that small.

I have no problem with proper food that just happens to be vegan.

It's the weird purple meat and massively processed shite pretending to be something it's not that I wouldn't touch.

Also, there aren't enough normal foods that just happen to be vegan that I find sufficiently pleasing that I would want to live on such a diet. Thank God I don't have to, despite the vegan propaganda.

lightinthebox · 23/04/2024 15:11

Why would someone who wants people to eat less meat get so worked up about vegan alternatives?

I really like things like vegan burgers, to the point I prefer them to meat. Other vegan alternatives are pretty good too.

Or are some vegans not ‘proper vegans’ because they eat things like vegan burgers.

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 23/04/2024 15:12

A goady thread is going to get goady answers.

Damnyourheadshoulderskneesandtoes · 23/04/2024 15:13

You aren't going to stop people from eating meat, so maybe you should start campaigning for better welfare for the animals we eat and get produce from. It would have more of an effect than posting some random link on mumsnet.

StMarieforme · 23/04/2024 15:13

Nature determined us as omnivorous.

Just as it determined a lion to be carnivorous.

If we didn't farm, people would starve.

That's it really.

Propagandalf · 23/04/2024 15:15

Oh look, Greta's posted and done a post-and-run.

I'll have my bacon sandwich thank you very much.

If the meat you're cooking is rotten then you're doing it wrong
