I genuinely tried so hard to watch this but I am physically unable to. It is absolutely unbelievable.

It is horrifying and heartbreaking that animals are going through this in order for humans to be able to eat meat, eggs and dairy.

To anyone who eats these things, this is where it comes from.

I have no problem with proper food that just happens to be vegan.

It's the weird purple meat and massively processed shite pretending to be something it's not that I wouldn't touch.

Also, there aren't enough normal foods that just happen to be vegan that I find sufficiently pleasing that I would want to live on such a diet. Thank God I don't have to, despite the vegan propaganda.

Exactly. So why label all vegan food as “vegan shite” when the vast majority of vegan food it just normal food?

AlwaysGinPlease · 23/04/2024 15:21

@BaconCozzers

I don't discuss it in real life unless I'm asked and pressed, even then I usually refuse to engage. I'm not a shouty preachy loud vegan. I'm too old for that shit. I'll give advice when asked by people transitioning.

But people that KNOW what happens, the pain, the suffering and still proudly state they don't care are just soulless and revolting people.

Who actually WANTS to hurt and kill animals? Who doesn't care about the way they are kept and killed? Sick people, that's who.

As PP says, animals do have to die for us to eat them - but their lifetime welfare and method of dispatch varies enormously.

It's completely false logic to say that, if one provider treats their animals cruelly, then that is how all providers do for everybody who eats meat or dairy. Dairy especially; how can you compare hens kept in tiny barbaric little cages with those who can freely roam a big field and barn, with their keepers simply picking up and making use of all the eggs that they lay and discard?

Some parents never actually talk to their children and are constantly screaming and swearing at them, all day long; but that doesn't mean that, by choosing to have a child (whom I do not treat this way), I am in any way perpetuating and am part of this problem.

With respect, no, chickens aren't kept In a big happy barn where they run around. And no, unlike with parents loving their children, there is zero (0) incentive for a chicken nugget factory to treat animals well.

No, I'm not a vegan but dismissing and choosing to be ignorant of animal welfare is wrong

I mean I’ve tried all bar the dog and cat… knowingly. Dogs and cats would again be fair game tho in a zombie apocalypse. Love a bit of ostrich and crocodile too. Kangaroo is nice if cooked right.

It's true. Being veggie or vegan is a privilege. If the world turned and the survival instinct, which the vast amount of people posting if not all have not experienced kicks in. You would no longer be vegan/veggie. Every animal you came across would be fair game.

This argument is age old and pointless. Campaign for better standards if you're that bothered.

Charlie2121 · 23/04/2024 14:01

It’s vegan nonsense.

I eat meat, lots of it, and will continue to do so. If others prefer not to that is entirely up to them.

It’s not ‘vegan nonsense’ it’s cruelty and abuse of animals. This isn’t a video of slaughterhouses adhering to regulations and treating the animals with care - it’s videos of workers being incredibly violent and cruel to animals before and during the slaughter process and that is the problem.

Normal food that just happens to be vegan on its own, when combined with meat or dairy products does not a vegan meal make and therefore does not qualify for the definition "vegan shite".

Normal food that just happens to be vegan that is combined only with other normal food that just happens to be vegan, or is combined with weird purple or Frankenstein vegan shite qualifies for the definition "vegan shite".

NerdWhoEatsMedlar · 23/04/2024 15:26

@bakewellbride I think there are better ways to get people to eat some vegan meals.
Try posting stunning, unsolicited food pics with recipes and even suggestions on how to adapt the dishes to GF.

toomanyy · 23/04/2024 15:29

I eat poultry, meat, fish and dairy, but I do think the industries are cruel.

Meat isn't a necessity for me, I can cook appetising vegetarian meals from scratch but it's a nice to have once or twice a month.

I'm not sure what would make me give it up.

That is an almighty challenge and very brave. Not content with limiting your options to vegan, you have thrown in GF too. Isn't being coeliac bad enough?

Desecratedcoconut · 23/04/2024 15:33

Being coeliacs is bad enough and limiting your food further would be a stretch too far for most, especially when you are optionally excluding a bunch of nutritious and naturally gf food that is not, or only lightly, processed.

Edited

I disagree 😀

I eat mostly vegan because I don’t like meat, fish, dairy. I take exception to you calling my diet and cooking “shite” because it doesn’t suit you.

i don’t call meat dishes “meat shite” because I know other people like it, even I personally do think it tastes like crap.

so have some respect for other peoples choices.

@Dontcomment Thank you.

Some of these people that "don't care" they have children, what an awful thought. Poor kids.

Desecratedcoconut · 23/04/2024 15:42

Slaughter house workers are usually incredibly thick degenerates - Really? What research led you to that conclusion? What metric does one use to identify a thick degenerate?

OhmygodDont · 23/04/2024 15:44

I don’t think I could actually live a vegan diet maybe a vegetarian one. But Vegan with no beans/pulses/peas etc few nuts basically just peanuts and cashew. I don’t think I’d be left with much.

Alwaysalwayscold · 23/04/2024 15:44

There's something about angry vegans that makes meat all the more appealing.

OrlandointheWilderness · 23/04/2024 15:45

I am a meat eater. However I think there is a world of difference in the production and slaughter of meats. I have made my choices - my choices are local rare breed beef reared from by friend. Free range chickens from same farmer. I buy lamb from the farm down the road.
Through the season we have venison, duck, pheasant, partridge, geese. My partner and I shoot our own birds and I pluck/skin/butcher and cook them.
They are ALL free range, very local and have a good life. Up until the point they are killed, which is done as humanly and as quickly as possible. Not one of the animals we eat has ever been inside a factory. That is how I try and ensure the animals we eat have a good a life, and death, as it possible.

I mean none of that is actual standard practise, it may happen in some places some times. Bit like you get arsehole staff in all jobs. But you go ahead.

Are you calling my dinner "crap"? I'm deeply hurt and offended and my lovingly created meal is cut to the core by your cruel words. 😭

I'm neither hurt nor offended, of course and my dinner couldn't give a shit, because we are both well aware that not everyone likes everything.

We are all entitled to eat what we like which means no "crap" for you and no "vegan shite" for me.

Throw in low FODMAP and then it would be an almighty challenge.

walnutcoffeecake · 23/04/2024 15:51

I went vegan for a month once last year i was so ill i had migraines almost daily.
Upset belly sat on the loo 5-6 times a day disgusting😩tired and hungry depressed i felt really sad as well and im a happy person.
It cost me more money than i thought it would.
I was just not my self by week 3.
I didnt lose weight i was bloated and no energy and aches.
A family member said stick with it you have to get used to it (fuck you was my words)
Went to my GP who said stop it.
Im now back to me.

However side rant i saw a strict vegan woman on youtube the other night that said she cannot and will not de-lice her childs head because they are animals.
And she will not hurt them.🙄
Will try and find link to upload shes barking mad.

Aren’t you then just getting to the BRAT diet, but with GF toast?
