Butlins skeggy absolutely filthy

I have come to Butins Skegness as a family and our fairground apartment is FILTHY! there is mould on the ceiling above the kids bed and round the kitchen window, poo on the bathroom door, blood on the curtains, sauce all over the microwave, brown ick all over the kettle, the floors haven't been swept or hovered and there's hair and blood on the master bed! Is this the standard I expect here? I'm just about ready to pack up and head home! They have offered us another apartment but I have to take all the stuff down 2 flights of stairs rather back up another 2 flights! Ita also eaten.the first couple of hours of our holiday and really taken the shine off.

AIBU is this what you expect when you pay to come to butlins?

Well I would avoid Butlins in Skegness in April like the plague, but you are entitled to clean accommodation.

I once had the misfortune of booking into a disgusting hotel.

I demanded to see the manager, showed him what I discovered and asked him if he would be willing to have his children sleep in such a room. He never bothered answering, simply replied with, "I can give you a full refund now".

Poor you. Spending money on poor accommodation is so disappointing. The poo would be too much for me. Ask to be moved. No, insist.

Butlins at Minehead and Bognor are usually fine, as they’ve been upgraded, but Skegness has always had a bad reputation.

Can't they offer a member of staff to help you move your stuff, if there is no lift?

I know some people look down on others who go to butlins and haven etc . When you book these places, you book
knowing you aren't going for a luxury holiday, but for fun.

Yes they may be basic, but you ANBU to expect a clean and tidy apartment on arrival. Complain and take photos for evidence, but I'd personally see what the alternative accommodation is like first before packing up and going home, despite it being a faff.

When you were booking this, were you thinking "what could possibly go wrong" ?

It doesnt matter how much you have paid, you are entitled to clean, poo smear free accomodation. I would be firmly pushing for upgraded accomodation and some other compensation.

We were at Skegness 2 weeks ago in a seaside apartment and it was perfectly clean. YANBU, what you've described sounds vile

We were actually meant to go to Prague for the week until we noticed that the kids paspohad a month left on them. They have been sent off but we knewbtheh wouldn't be back in time and we were correct they have not come yet!

We haven't been to Butlins before but have been to Haven, Sandy Balls (snigger snigger) and Park Dean and had great breaks! We weren't looking at high brow just a break with the family.

We have been moved. This apartment is clean and nice they have really scrubbed it! But i have missed several hours of the holiday and raided my bloody pressure. They have offered us a go on the go carts! Nope that's nowhere near enough to cover the hassle.

I went there more than 30 years ago - it was an absolute filthy tip then. Lasted 2 nights and came home. Never again.

God. I'm going in May. Now I'm crapping myself. We've always gone to Bognor. I've never been to Skegness. May will be my first .

My kids live Butlins. People can scoff but we wouldn't be able to afford a holiday otherwise.

A go on the go carts isn't enough for that inconvenience. It's not enough for the exposure to other people's blood and shit. I'd do a complaint in writing.

Also the pool is shut and half the fiarground is out if order! This just gets worse but at least I have a clean bed tonight.

Also there are massive queues to do anything that we should have been at the front of but we have been moving our stuff and trapsing around picking up keys and stuff!

We had the same when we went in December. Couldn’t get my money back for love nor money. I won’t go back again

I went to Skegness Butlins over 15 years ago and had the exact same problem - grimy kitchen, dirty shower and mould round the windows. Back then it was cheap so kinda took a 'get what you pay for' approach but I never forgot it and I've warned lots of people since to not even bother.
