Butlins skeggy absolutely filthy

Obvs name changed for this one!

I have come to Butins Skegness as a family and our fairground apartment is FILTHY! there is mould on the ceiling above the kids bed and round the kitchen window, poo on the bathroom door, blood on the curtains, sauce all over the microwave, brown ick all over the kettle, the floors haven't been swept or hovered and there's hair and blood on the master bed! Is this the standard I expect here? I'm just about ready to pack up and head home! They have offered us another apartment but I have to take all the stuff down 2 flights of stairs rather back up another 2 flights! Ita also eaten.the first couple of hours of our holiday and really taken the shine off.

AIBU is this what you expect when you pay to come to butlins?

Butlins is actually getting too expensive for this level of dirt! I’ve been to Minehead a few times, and we paid for a better apartment like yours and it’s not cheap!! Ours were really clean.

Badbutlins · 08/04/2024 20:08

DonnaBanana · 08/04/2024 19:42

Silly comment. Marcy D’s is cheap as well but if you found poo or mould in your burger you’d have every right to be upset! No different at butlins

This!

We stayed in the Seaside apartments and they were the same, although I didn’t spot any poo! Dread to think what the cheaper options are like!

I suspect (I have no evidence though) they may be cleaner! There are basic rooms with no kitchen or living space ti clean so have a better chance of having things done.

We were at Butlins Skegness in Feb and the accommodation was clean and good condition so I think you've just been unlucky.

If you haven't got them already ask for VIP passes as compensation, that will let you cut the queues for entertainment events and go in before everyone else. We found it really useful.

I'm glad you've been moved. We just got back from Bognor Regis Butlins and we had a similar issue. Our accommodation was so dirty and in a state of disrepair. We didn't complain as we would have had massive difficulty moving due to disabilities in the family. It was meant to be one of their best apartments too. We've been several times (last time pre covid) and it was truly awful this time.

I hope you manage to enjoy your break op.

We also have some issues moving. My husband has MS and is on immunosuppression medication so the filth is worse. It's not massively relevant to tbe post but is a private issue for us and has made this worse.

We hooked fancy! We have the fairground it's the 2nd from the top tbe only difference is that the gold has a safe and a dishwasher! I thought I was getting top stuff!

Problem is top of the range at Skegness is similar to bottom of the range at Minehead and Bognor. The only accomodation at Skeggy which looks OK is the new Deluxe lodges. The hotels at Bognor and Westlakes chalets at Minehead are lovely, wouldn't stay anywhere else, bit this is mainly due to them being noisy. Nowhere should have poo or blood on the walks, that's disgusting, and the offer of a free go on go carts is an insult. Make a full complaint when you get home. We had similar but not as bad, and they pretty much gave us a free holiday (we'll, we paid £120 for a holiday which should have cost over a thousand)

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 08/04/2024 20:18

I wouldn’t expect the ritz. We went to Butlin’s and often had a wet floor and condensation but not that level of filth. I’d ask for a refund and go home

LlynTegid · 08/04/2024 20:22

I wonder if at Skegness Butlins are struggling to get staff. Though in those circumstances if the case they should offer less bookings and leave some parts empty.

I suspect they are ether struggling to get or struggling to keep staff. The cleaning staff gave to clean 5 2 bed units with kitchen, living room and shower room in a 4 hour window from what i heard. I suspect this is why mine had been ignored!

We've been countless times to butlins Skegness and never had any issues with accommodation cleanliness. It sounds as though this was a huge mistake by one cleaner. They've moved your room and offered the Hobart's as a sorry. What else would you like them to do?

FriendsDrinkBook · 08/04/2024 20:46

@Badbutlins I understand. One of my children is autistic and another family member is a wheelchair user. My child had already unpacked their toys and was settled on the sofa with them after an overstimulating journey , and the person with a physical disability was in agony after travelling. It just seemed easier to not move accommodation.

A go on the go carts Grin

Canwedoit4 · 08/04/2024 21:17

We went as a large dance school last October. Luckily my apartment was OK but I think 80% of the party had accommodation with exactly the same complaints and bodily fluid as you. One even had a ceiling fall down on their head! Our complaint was we paid to upgrade to a service including maid service because it was a packed hectic weekend, we never saw a maid or had clean towels once and when we complained we had to prove the maids had never been? How? A photo of the door with nobody stood there? It was ridiculous and I've done a few different butlins over the years, none like Skegness.

Make the most of what time you have and hopefully you get further with complaining than we did!

alwaysmovingforwards · 08/04/2024 21:30

I'll continue to ensure Butlins Skegness remains on my list of places to never even consider visiting.

Thanks for the reminder 👍

Yes I would expect this, only due to mn and having been on beer for years.

Yours is, unfortunately, one of a long line of posts about the absolute horrors at butlins.

There is no one to complain too either because it's a company within a company and so on.

Daily mail? §sad face and try and get some money from papers?
.

ChirpyBee · 08/04/2024 17:42

What do you expect at Skegness Butlins? 😂

I would expect very basic but clean
I wouldn't expect poo
Would you?
It's not somewhere I'd go but that doesn't excuse poo

Badbutlins · 08/04/2024 21:33

It's a public health warning!

My husband is also on immunosuppressant medication. Poo and blood is a biohazard so please please keep on at Butlins for compensation. As we both know an illness usually ends up with a lengthy stay in hospital. You have a right to a clean and safe space for your holiday.

IfYouSawwhatISee · 08/04/2024 21:44

Yes but if you contact daily mail they will possibly take it up?

WePanickedAtTheDisco · 08/04/2024 21:49

I went to a Pontins in the early 2000’s. It was vile. Filthy with an ant infestation. I vowed never to visit one of those holiday camps again 🤢

IncompleteSenten · 08/04/2024 21:53

Glad they moved you.
That's grim even by skeggy's very low standards.

When I went as a kid the chalets didn't even have bathrooms. You used the showers at the end of each block.
I bloody loved it.

My mum - not so much 🤣

I haven't heard anything good about pontins!
