Butlins skeggy absolutely filthy

I have come to Butins Skegness as a family and our fairground apartment is FILTHY! there is mould on the ceiling above the kids bed and round the kitchen window, poo on the bathroom door, blood on the curtains, sauce all over the microwave, brown ick all over the kettle, the floors haven't been swept or hovered and there's hair and blood on the master bed! Is this the standard I expect here? I'm just about ready to pack up and head home! They have offered us another apartment but I have to take all the stuff down 2 flights of stairs rather back up another 2 flights! Ita also eaten.the first couple of hours of our holiday and really taken the shine off.

AIBU is this what you expect when you pay to come to butlins?

After a 5 hour drive to Butlins Minehead we turned around and went home as there were mushrooms growing in the damp carpet under the bed.
Definitely do not stay- decision as to whether you want to chance another room or fight for a refund and abandon it

You'd expect clean accommodation.
We always go to Bognor and accommodation is clean but I did feel the main areas were feeling tired last time we went.
We were meant to be going Skegness in June for a change but rerouted back to Bognor when we found out the pool would still be shut as that's a big no for my kids. Sorry but a roller disco and circus show don't equal unlimited swimming, when kid had a panic attack last time they tried roller skating.

Butlins is ok if you book the fancy accommodation but the budget accommodation is truly awful.

Years ago, they used to have a post office there so that you could collect your benefits whilst you were away on holiday.

Sorry you had this experience too. I feel like i have been doddled out of my first day of my holiday. We planned to take the kids swimming, get dinner then watch the wrestling. We have only jusy been able to get a crappy space for the wrestling and haven't had dinner.

People who scoff are often those spending 6k on an all inclusive summer holiday somewhere beautiful. That's all great but i have no interest in working and using 3 - 4 months of my full salary to sit round a pool grumbling about my towel being moved and the watered down spirits 😀

wherever you go and whatever you pay you should be entitled to a basic level of cleanliness.

We managed to get tbe masked singer and a couple of tribute acts hopefully they will be great or I will actually cry!

We were not given the option to move or cancel unfortunately we only found put 2 days ago about thepool.

Most hotels and holiday camps in Skeggy are full of asylum seekers.

Ask the manager for another room and help moving your items. You also should also request a discount.

We hooked fancy! We have the fairground it's the 2nd from the top tbe only difference is that the gold has a safe and a dishwasher! I thought I was getting top stuff!

All Butlins are like this.....dirty,rundown, shabby

That’s so crap OP.

Wherever you go, you have the right to expect a clean space to stay in! Butlins isn’t cheap….it’s hardly hostel prices!

We stayed in the Seaside apartments and they were the same, although I didn’t spot any poo! Dread to think what the cheaper options are like!

Completely agree. It doesn't matter about the reputation of the resort, or whether people would or would not personally want to have a holiday there.

This is a large company, selling thousands of holidays a year. They should at the very minimum be providing clean and basic accommodation. What OP describes is unacceptable.

I'm glad you've been moved. We just got back from Bognor Regis Butlins and we had a similar issue. Our accommodation was so dirty and in a state of disrepair. We didn't complain as we would have had massive difficulty moving due to disabilities in the family. It was meant to be one of their best apartments too. We've been several times (last time pre covid) and it was truly awful this time.

I went to Bognor during Covid when we couldn’t go abroad. Stayed in a fairground apartment. Id heard awful things so wasn’t expecting much, but I was surprised we had a great time, lovely people, clean and very nice room, did the dine around plan and food was pretty good.

Went to Skegness after Covid and hated it. Filthy, rats running around outside rooms, heaving, food awful.. left early, would never go back! Absolutely complain about the room even though they’ve changed it.

Ive done the adult weekends there, great fun but there is no way I'd take my kids. No amount of cleaning could make what I've witnessed there go away!

Butlins is disgusting we had a disaster back two years ago booked minehead literally same as you turned around and went home kicked off had a refund never ever will we book to go to any of the Butlins dirty disgusting shit holes I'm always gob smacked when people say they love the place either they have low cleaning standards or just are lucky enough to have a semi clean place to put up with staying there.

But I've heard more bad than good when it comes to Butlins.

That fucking disgusting!! We stayed at butlins bognor regis in 2012 it was the cheapest chalet and really old.. but clean. The food was nice too

Good god it’s awful, we went last year for a hen doo and the accommodation was appalling. One of the girls went home as she couldn’t stand it. It was my SIL’s bash otherwise id of been right behind her We have been to Haven lots of times, its streets ahead of Butlins.
