Will this tap put off potential house buyers

Builders bought the wrong tap initially. Finally got them back to finish off last few jobs including tap replacement. They have again bought a tap that can’t be used. Stuck with this ridiculous tap. We are having our house photographed on Monday by estate agents.

The builders also ordered a bathroom cabinet that got delivered after they left on Friday.

Should we wait to have these jobs done? I’m afraid my bathroom looks like a joke.

I can’t see people being put off by one tap if they otherwise like the house.

FlumpInSlump · 06/04/2024 21:57

I don’t think they’d be put off at all, I’m not sure you’d even notice tbh. As you pointed it out though, the tap did make me laugh (sorry).

SpeedwellBlue · 06/04/2024 21:59

It wouldn't put me off.

needalotofmoneyfrommyhouse · 06/04/2024 21:59

I’m embarrassed mostly for neighbours to see. How will any neighbours who look up our listing know this was not intentional?

Hotdogity · 06/04/2024 21:59

I would be put off. Not because of the look, but because it looks like a bodged job, so I would be wondering what else had been fucked up.

ask the estate agent to airbrush it out, use a different angle or just not use a photo of that room.

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 06/04/2024 22:00

Tap and basin put me off as they look mismatched
However, a serious buyer would over look that if it was just that

Often its the location, then the kerb appeal, size of kitchen and quality and garden

The house we bought, they were ok, clean but we just knew we were going to totally rerub them unless renting

If I was buying to rent it out, it would not bother me

ShyMaryEllen · 06/04/2024 22:00

I wouldn't be put off buying a house because of one tap, but why not get the bathroom photographed so you can't see it (ie not like in your photo which is directly pointing at the offending item?

needalotofmoneyfrommyhouse · 06/04/2024 22:00

What’s the point of porcelanosa tiles with a tap like that?

If you’re selling they won’t be your neighbours for much longer so why worry?

This is also a concern. But we need to move asap.

I’d not be put off but I’d prob have a giggle at it.

ByUmberViewer · 06/04/2024 22:02

Hmmmm

TinySaltLick · 06/04/2024 22:02

Anyone looking at that tap would either think it was an interesting feature, or just plan the £50 it would cost to buy another tap

Or just go and buy one from b+q tomorrow and change it yourself? It would take you about thirty mins if you have the right tools (which you could buy at the same place as the tap if not)

TwigletsAndRadishes · 06/04/2024 22:03

It's ridiculously out of proportion for the size of the sink, but I doubt it will put anyone off buying the house. It's just a tap.

bumblingthrough123 · 06/04/2024 22:03

It probably won’t deter a serious buyer but it did make me lol (sorry OP). I’m in a similar situation of being desperate to list but need to sort out some small jobs.

"airbrush it out"??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo

Its a bit like the first pic is of the back garden and not the front of the house. That tells me the house is bloody ugly and or ugly street and its more of a shock when people arrive. This is why we Google street view etc

If we went to buy a house and a nasty bathroom was airbrushed, as we were not expecting it, it may put us off - however, personally, we look at location, location and then type of build, parking spaces, sizes of all rooms if gardesn are over looked etc, the rest we can work on

Chatonette · 06/04/2024 22:03

I’d think I’d want to replace it, but a tap wouldn’t put me off of a house! (And you can ask your agent not to take any photos of that particular bathroom—I’ve seen many listings without every single room showcased.) I bought a house without a bath, despite having tiny children! The previous owners only liked showers. I loved the house, so we bought it and redecorated one of the bathrooms—we still bought it!

RedRobyn2021 · 06/04/2024 22:04

🤣

PrimalLass · 06/04/2024 22:04

Just go and buy a wrench and a new tap tomorrow.

I meant until they could get it replaced. Not to leave it as a surprise feature to be revealed on the viewing!!!

Liquidity · 06/04/2024 22:04

I’d be more put off by the pointless plug in the middle of the wall. Will look awful to trail a toothbrush wire from there to the shelf. It looks unfinished and like someone hasn’t thought very hard about design. And what’s the point of porcelanosa tiles with mistakes like that?

CrikeyMajikey · 06/04/2024 22:05

I’d be worried it suggests other things in the house aren’t quite right.

Don’t photograph that angle.

needalotofmoneyfrommyhouse · 06/04/2024 22:06

I’m going to request the estate agents explicitly inform potential buyers that the tap will be changed.

OP posts:
PrimalLass · 06/04/2024 22:06

TBH I'd just be mentally changing the whole thing to a vanity with drawers and a new tap anyway.

Sunshineclouds11 · 06/04/2024 22:06

It wouldn't put me off but it's made me laugh.

I'd ask for photos missing the sink out and advise the tap is temporary
