Will this tap put off potential house buyers

Builders bought the wrong tap initially. Finally got them back to finish off last few jobs including tap replacement. They have again bought a tap that can’t be used. Stuck with this ridiculous tap. We are having our house photographed on Monday by estate agents.

The builders also ordered a bathroom cabinet that got delivered after they left on Friday.

Should we wait to have these jobs done? I’m afraid my bathroom looks like a joke.

I’d be more put off by the pointless plug in the middle of the wall. Will look awful to trail a toothbrush wire from there to the shelf. It looks unfinished and like someone hasn’t thought very hard about design. And what’s the point of porcelanosa tiles with mistakes like that?

Actually just spotted that

op is the plug going to be hidden by the cabinet? It looks odder than the tap,

Bigearringsbigsmile · 06/04/2024 22:08

I can't see anything wrong with the tap,?

We were supposed to have a cabinet above the sink.

Not exactly where I envisioned it

We were supposed to have a cabinet above the sink.

To cover that plug the cabinet will have to be huge. Looks all out of proportion but on the upside, maybe the comedy tap won’t be so noticeable after all.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 06/04/2024 22:12

Nope, I change all the taps anyway, so I wouldn’t even think to look at it.

bows101 · 06/04/2024 22:13

Most buyers aren't put off by things like this, it's minimal cost to change it.
It does look comical though; sorry to add to your stress 😅 trying to envision how it even works water wise!

MumUndone · 06/04/2024 22:13

That tap is hilarious, sorry OP

EmmaOvary · 06/04/2024 22:13

Drip feed.

Londonrach1 · 06/04/2024 22:14

I'd wonder what else needs sorting. I'd view with caution

needalotofmoneyfrommyhouse · 06/04/2024 22:15

We’ve had a nightmare insurance claim. We were told we would be out of the house for 2 months ended up being 18 months. 10 air BnB in total all over the South - Devon to Warwick.

Do not have the strength to fight the plug. Not much can be done. We just want to sell and get on with our lives.

What happened?

rachelvbwho · 06/04/2024 22:16

I'd find it very funny but I don't think it would put me off buying of everything else was great. It would raise the question though of what else is a bodge job.

OfDragonsDeep · 06/04/2024 22:18

I wouldn’t care about the tap or plug, prob wouldn’t even change it tbh

@Bigearringsbigsmile

seriously? It's a six foot* monstrosity!!

** only a slight exaggeration!

@needalotofmoneyfrommyhouse so, you decided to listen to everyone and not put the glass shelves up!

obviously can't see as much as in your previous thread, but it looks so much better without the bin & clutter .

Pinkpinkpink15 · 06/04/2024 22:21

To be honest, I only noticed the tap after others mentioned it (on your previous thread)

it's wrong for the sink, but your bathroom doesn't look like a joke. It's just clean & plain which is perfect. Functional until I know what I want to put in.

just get it on the market!

Nope I very much intended to have the builders put them up. But the project manager didn’t give the men doing the work the shelves. Despite my showing them where I wanted them placed the day before we realised.

Think I have an insight into why we were out of house 9x longer than planned.

They did put in a new sink downstairs (bought one without consulting us). New sink has transformed the room. Grateful for that.

You’re renovating and selling at same time?

just don’t include bathroom photos - it’s perfectly normal not to

If you’re selling, stop drilling holes into the tiles. The next owners might not want the shelves or cabinet, but will be stuck with them because you’ve ruined the tiles. I’d be more put off by stuff that can’t be easily changed than a tacky tap

MaggieFS · 06/04/2024 22:33

Just don't include photos of the bathroom at that angle.

Then get it changed and it doesn't need mentioning. As per pp, if I saw that, I'd wonder what else was bodged.

And don't bother with the cabinet.

We finished renovations in Oct. Builders have been called back to snag twice. Unbelievably a third visit is needed. Beyond a joke now.

Can you see the post?

AIBU to pull out of this house purchase?

We went to see a house which was perfect. Ideal location, close to a good school, big garden, parking, plenty of bedrooms. We put in an offer straight away.
However today we went back so I could get measurements for curtains and I noticed the tap in the bathroom was odd. AIBU to pull out because of this odd tap which I could easily change?

schloss · 06/04/2024 22:43

Do not include photos of the bathroom and do not tell the EA or viewers about the tap unless they ask. Stop worrying about what your neighbours will think.

You are paying the EA so you can tell them what photos to include. Wait until the tap is changed, then take a photo yourselves and send it to the EA to add to the listing. Problem sorted.

I tend to agree with not drilling into the tiles. You could always say to buyers there is a bathroom cabinet to go up, if they want it added you will either get it done or leave the cabinet for them.

BobnLen · 06/04/2024 22:45

I would just buy a new tap and change it if I didn't like it.

BringMeSunshine8 · 06/04/2024 22:46

It made me laugh (only because I read your post first then saw the tap 😂)
It wouldn't put me off buying a house, taps are easily changed! If anyone comes to view, just explain the tap will be changed and was a builder error.
It looks too big for the sink (obviously) but not sure I would even notice in photos.
