To not want a KFC after a 2 hour hike??

Amidepressedorlazy · 24/03/2024 16:26

Went on a 2 hour hike today with 3 kids had to carry 1 year old DC most of the way. I was happy to go home and cook something. DH and BIL come up with the wonderful idea of KFC and when I say I don’t fancy it they make me out to be an issue calling me difficult.

Ive lost 2 stone and they keep saying to me oh you’ve changed you’re not the same person you use to be blardy blah. I still love food but I’m not going to walk for hours and then finish on something greasy!!! aibu?

If you're happy to cook something when you get home just do that. If they'd rather have KFC then they can.

TextureSeeker · 24/03/2024 16:28

In your shoes I would have just let them get KFC and got something for myself at home. Less people to cook for is a win in my book. I've often opted out of fast food when out with the kids and just gotten something later at home. It's not a big deal.

Nomorecoconutboosts · 24/03/2024 16:28

You don’t all have to have the same…perhaps you could join the kfc time and have a coffee but cook something different for yourself on return home?

Commonsense22 · 24/03/2024 16:28

You didn't have to eat the KFC but denying them that was pretty rubbish. The vast majority of people would crave comfort food after that effort and expecting people to wait whilst you drove home and cooked was unreasonable. And pretty selfish IMO.

arethereanyleftatall · 24/03/2024 16:29

It isn't clear from your op - but why couldn't they go to kfc and you go and make something at home?

DustyLee123 · 24/03/2024 16:30

You could have gone but not ate it, have something else when you get back.

TuesdayWhistler · 24/03/2024 16:30

"i fancy a KFC" said Bob,
"Go for it" said Brenda, "I'll wait till we get.home"
"Are you sure?" Asks Dave,
"Yeah, I don't fancy it is all."

And the three went on with their lives.

Mushroo · 24/03/2024 16:31

YABU - you didnt have to eat KFC but stopping your DH and BIL having it is a bit harsh. In a situation like that you go with the majority (and comfort food after a big hike sounds great)

Mummame2222 · 24/03/2024 16:32

Does that mean they can’t have it? Confused as to why there’s a problem.

Amidepressedorlazy · 24/03/2024 16:32

they had a KFC it was because I said i didn’t fancy any they kept going on and on making it an issue. I told them to have it and I would sort myself out.

KFC used to do a rice box approved by Slimming World. Don't they still?

Amidepressedorlazy · 24/03/2024 16:33

That’s when they started with the your not the same person you use to be your not fun anymore.

OP posts:
soupfiend · 24/03/2024 16:33

It depends, your post is lacking in detail of what happened, if you wer trying to prevent them from having KFC then of course you're unreasonble.

If they were having a go at you for not wanting then they are unreasonble.

LazyDoll · 24/03/2024 16:34

I don’t eat fast food. My DH and kids like the odd KFC etc after a day out walking or to break up a journey. So they get fast food and I grab a Waitrose or M&S meal deal. It’s not a biggie. It’s a compromise. I wouldn’t deny them their fix but they never question me not eating it.Surely other options were available for you without depriving everyone else 🤷🏻‍♀️

justasking111 · 24/03/2024 16:34

"KFC | Our Menu | Riceboxes & Salads" https://www.kfc.co.uk/our-menu/ricebox

Yes they do and very tasty they are

soupfiend · 24/03/2024 16:35

By the way, what has the 2 hour hike got to do with anything, seems a strange inclusion in the debate?

Would it be more reasonable if you had been round the shops or to a funfair perhaps?

TuesdayWhistler · 24/03/2024 16:35

Right so the issue isn't really the KFc is it OP?

The issue is your involved with an unsupportive arsehole and his brother.

Maybe start a thread about that?

Amidepressedorlazy · 24/03/2024 16:35

I love rice boxes! But I didn’t fancy one and they were getting a party bucket. It’s too greasy for me.

Presumably because she didn't want to undo all her hard work hiking by then eating unhealthily so therefore, it is relevant

BobbyBiscuits · 24/03/2024 16:39

They are just being idiots. Why do they care if you eat it or not? I'd fancy something more nutritious after all that exercise too.
Don't ever let people pressure you to eat stuff you don't want. Especially when it's overpriced junk. If you want junk just pull out nuggets and waffles from the freezer.
I used to love KFC but it's now always really disappointing and their chips are shite. Glad I've not bothered for ages.

Commonsense22 · 24/03/2024 16:41

The tone of your posts make it sound like KFC is not good enough for you and you're speaking a bit judgementally about the "greasy" food.
Is it possible that your tone /attitude made it clear to your husband and friend that you were not best pleased, or maybe you sounded snotty about their food choice? If that was the case, they might have teased you about not being fun. I must say that your posts don't come across as fun but maybe it's different in person.

If you felt they were being unsupportive because you've put a massive effort into your weight loss and have asked them for it, that's different.

Shityshitybangbang · 24/03/2024 16:41

Oh I fancy a kfc now, why did you need to mention it lol 😂 only kidding. I had a twist wrap last week and it was delicious. I really want one lol

jengachampion · 24/03/2024 16:42

YANBU - moaning at you in spite of your hard work/potentially sabotaging you (does DH have a weight problem?) is not on

Amidepressedorlazy · 24/03/2024 16:42

It was a tough hike and I felt amazing after! The last thing I wanted was to put crap in my body. Anyway those 2 had KFC party bucket to themselves. Even the kids didn’t fancy it!

OP posts:
toomanyy · 24/03/2024 16:43

Not sure why posters are telling you what to do OP. I think you have the common sense to figure out yourself that the men can have KFC if they want.

YANBU, I suspect they’re judgemental of your healthy eating as they don’t have the same willpower but only you know why they’re like this.

Don’t let their harping on put you off the healthy eating. I’ve lost 2 stones as well and people are always trying to make me eat cakes, chocolates even though I have politely said no thanks.
