DH only butters one side and says I am doing it wrong, but will accept the results of a MN vote.

YABU: You should only butter one side
YANBU: You should butter both sides

I butter both but my DD butters neither.

WonkyBricks · 09/03/2024 19:09

Absolutely butter both sides! Who wants a dry bread sandwich Envy

Redshoeblueshoe · 09/03/2024 19:10

Neither of you are right or wrong.
Not very helpful am I

inkblackheart · 09/03/2024 19:11

Why would someone only butter one side?

burnoutbabe · 09/03/2024 19:11

Do you mean of the sane bit jf bread?

Or 2 bits of bread, buttering the bit that touches the filling?

I do the second but not the first (even toasties are just done one side, the outside in that case)

puzzledout · 09/03/2024 19:11

LTB

Purplecatshopaholic · 09/03/2024 19:12

Both sides, always both sides!

Circe32 · 09/03/2024 19:12

Butter both.
UNLESS the topping is going to be something like the consistency of mayonnaise or redcurrant jelly.

GwinGwyn · 09/03/2024 19:13

Both sides, unless it’s a toastie, then all four sides!

BreakfastAtMimis · 09/03/2024 19:14

I only ever butter one slice of the bread for a sandwich. Confused

OrangeVelour · 09/03/2024 19:14

If it's got salad in, I only butter the side without the salad. I don't like the thought of butter on tomato or cucumber. But I'm very fussy about what touches what 😝

Grazyna80 · 09/03/2024 19:14

Both, obviously. Or none. All or nothing!

Flin · 09/03/2024 19:15

I butter one slice. Why use double the quantity of butter?

neilyoungismyhero · 09/03/2024 19:15

Both sides

Hermittrismegistus · 09/03/2024 19:16

GwinGwyn · 09/03/2024 19:13

This^

ForeverYellow · 09/03/2024 19:16

Both . Butter also ‘water proofs ‘ the inside of the bread so it does not go soggy .

AuntieMarys · 09/03/2024 19:16

No butter at all! Just mayo

HoldingTheDoor · 09/03/2024 19:16

Why the hell would anyone only butter one side? I’ve never known anyone to do that.

AllTheMiniEggs · 09/03/2024 19:17

I've only eve buttered one slice.

Buttering both? How reckless 😂

HoldingTheDoor · 09/03/2024 19:17

Assuming that by sides you mean the two pieces of bread and not both sides of one slice.

EmmaEmerald · 09/03/2024 19:18

Side or slice?

Helfs · 09/03/2024 19:18

Flin · 09/03/2024 19:15

I butter one slice. Why use double the quantity of butter?

Because it’s butter

Not heroin

madeinmanc · 09/03/2024 19:19

I don't use butter in sandwiches at all, I use mayonnaise instead. It's much nicer and makes for a superior sandwich. So YABVU 😀

CaribbeanCupcake · 09/03/2024 19:19

Only butter one side, the other is for mayo/ ketchup/ coleslaw/ salad cream etc

Flin · 09/03/2024 19:21

Helfs · 09/03/2024 19:18

Because it’s butter

Not heroin

I didn't suggest butter is like heroin. How odd! I just don't see the point of using twice as much. To me the sandwich is more about the filling, not the butter.
