I had 4 mnths off work when I had breast cancer. As an HCP I see hundreds of patients. My condition was no one else’s business but some of the rumours that circulated locally were hysterical.
I’m not a celebrity in any shape or form but people do like to speculate. Because the oncologist was not sure whether I would need chemo there was no definitive date for my return. I work in a potentially high infection risk area so was advised to take time off rather than return and put ongoing treatment at risk of being delayed.

In the olden days, peak NHS, most people would stay in hospital for at least a week after abdo surgery. The only reason we are kicked out early is cost and waiting lists.

Even if you pay privately the length of your stay is controlled by how long your insurance company are willing to pay for.

I think that her surgeon wanted to be fully healed and recovered before discharging her. Cost was not a consideration.

Childbirth, when not complicated is very different to major surgery. Most births were home births until the Second World War. So if you are fit and well post birth there is no need to stay in hospital.
I do worry about how quickly c sections are discharged though. But again it’s all about bed blocking and low staff numbers.

She is lounging around in the lap of luxury with the very best of everything, top notch medical care, free from domestic and childcare chores, money worries or employment duties whilst she recovers from her surgery, probably in her 10 bedroom Norfolk House with extensive grounds and plenty of room for her parents and family to stay or doing the above in her Windsor 'cottage'. No struggling to get the kids ready for school or hobbling to the kitchen to make dinner or SSP for her.

Why such reverence for strangers? I'm guessing you clicked on it for the same reasons everyone else did

Maybe she has set up an Only Fans page? Maybe she has decided on more cosmetic surgery whilst she is about it? Maybe she is watching trash TV and scoffing ice cream? Whatever she is doing, it will be done in the utmost luxury with the best of the best on demand!

You know where she is, we've been told how long it's going to be, you don't need any other information, and where in the world is everyone "going crazy"? Hysterics much? There aren't many things in her life that are private so I don't blame her for keeping her private medical information just that.......private.

William and Kate are teaching us a lesson. They made a statement. She will reappear after Easter. We are being trained not to read between the lines. And quite right too, the speculation is idiotic. They have shared that she had ''abdominal surgery''. TMI in my opinion. They shouldn't have felt the need to share even that much.

I reckon after years of walking a tightrope trying to look approachable, and honest and transparent and ''warm'' after all the harry and meghan nonsenes, they're realising, hey, we can just tune it out for a bit.

I reckon they will do this in the future. Maybe not for as long, but the public should take note. The public doesn't have an automatic right to know what they're up to every minute.

I really hope she is having a lovely rest and not too uncomfortablepost surgery. Possibly spending all day in her pyjama's, and binge watching something like Greys Anatomy or reading a book from cover to cover. Like most busy, working Mum's she probably doesn't get much (any) downtime normally. Let's hope she isn't reading any of this speculative bilge.
