Kate and William are famously work shy. Kate is taking another month off work and William went to a pub in Wales today.

So four engagements in one day. If he keeps this up for a few weeks he will not have to do much more for the rest of the year.

On the one hand, I care about Kate's health as much as she cares about mine or any of ours, i.e. not one bit. She could have disappeared without any announcement and i think it would have taken a few months for anyone to notice. She's never been on for the graft or for getting stuck into anything more than a photo opportunity. If she's taking a third of a year out for a stubbed toe and a tummy ache it makes not one iota of difference to my life.

On the other, she's one of the faces of UK PLC. She's paid millions and afforded every luxury on our dime to make us look polished and competent on the world stage. We do have a stake in her, she's not a private citizen like you or I. Those palaces she's luxuriating in - we pay for those. She represents us. I hardly think that it's unreasonable to want to know the status of one of our top public figures.

I'm leaning towards it being something a bit icky and embarrassing. Maybe she has a bag collecting her shit and doesn't want that image in the public's minds. She could do a lot for destigmatising that sort of condition if she were open about it, but she's more inclined towards prissy and uptight and less interested in something that might actually do good.

What's wrong with musing over the RF and K and W in particular right now?

They have their privacy intact, they are keeping it that way, so why should anyone shut the F up about them. They will be our next king and queen and funded by us, and/or by ill gotten gains in historical terms. Just because they were born doesn't mean they can enjoy a charmed life on their terms.

Ask many wealthy and famous celebrities, most of them have intrusions on their lives every day of the week. And they at least have some talent and worked for it.
