It does make you wonder though, so many weird things with the RF at the mo

Nope. No, it really doesn't!

Find something more worthwhile to fill your time!

Islandgirl68 · 01/03/2024 17:47

It is ridiculous, it is none of our business. She has a right to privacy while recovering.

bellocchild · 01/03/2024 17:47

@AtSheepandSword. Exactly. Mild curiosity because it's a long period of recuperation, but it really isn't any of our business.

I'm assuming she's had something gynaecological and doesn't see why we need to know - I do know she's bound to be well looked after and hopefully enjoying it

Mellowbear · 01/03/2024 17:58

Sick of this leave her alone to get well and fit. You are not really concerned just bored and nosey.

busymomtoone · 01/03/2024 17:58

Lots of MN Royalists on here ! The Sovereign Grant is £86 million and taxpayers fund £500 million of that per annum to the Royals. The reality is that this facilitates made to measure clothes, top make up artists , top medical experts and absolute maximum medical care etc. Given that Prince Phillip was photographed coming out of hospital ; King Charles even during his cancer treatment; The Queen just days prior to her death and all royals within 24 hours of giving birth it seems absolutely unprecedented and unrealistic to believe that any general medical or abdominal surgery could warrant such a lengthy absence of even any messages of thanks to well wishers or a royal sanctioned photo of her “ recovering” at home. The fact that the tabloids have been so silent on the issue is also just plain strange. I admired the Queen for her dedication and devotion to duty , and believe King Charles has inherited the same sense of dedication . Neither William or Kate show any sign of this, and have been continually absent from public duties more than present. Princess Anne works infinitely harder - in my opinion she should be next in line - but of course the tabloids love a fairytale princess ( so long as she is not called Meghan).

Redmat · 01/03/2024 17:58

I was 11 months off work when I had major abdominal surgery. I was so ill and weak afterwards I just concentrated on getting through each day. I was alot younger than Pof W and it still took ages to recover. So not surprising at all that she may not be interested in coming to the window and waving or sitting for a photograph to appease clamouring masses.

Kinneddar · 29/02/2024 15:51

Her death is something that has been discussed as a liklihood on Twitter. What I cant work out out with these idiots is how would that work. Will they keep extending her recuperation and hope in time we just all forget she existed. Or will there be a replacement model who looks totally different, like in the soaps, but we'll all be gaslighted into believing nothings changed. I dont think the eejits that come up with these ideas have the brain power to think of the next step & consequences of these alleged cover ups 🙄

LOL! I thought it was only crazy Americans that gave any credence to wild theories such as this. But obviously, some of us Brits have nothing better to do than debate the ins and outs of the P of Wales’s whereabouts when there are so many other really serious issues facing this country to be concerned about.

2dogsandabudgie · 01/03/2024 18:14

busymumtoone - Not sure about MN royalists - I'd say that some of us on here aren't nosy fuckers like the rest of you and we respect others privacy.

How does that statement even work?!!
The Sovereign Grant of £86 million goes towards the running expenses of official palaces, not private homes, staff costs, repairs, travel on official trips etc.
It does NOT cover clothes, hairdressers, private medicine, personal expenses etc. which are paid for from private funds.

“Private funds”?! Where exactly do you think those come from?! Who do you think is employing William and Kate?!

Whatafustercluck · 01/03/2024 18:34

It seems a tad dramatic to suggest that an ostomy or hysterectomy or whatnot is “mentally breaking“ to the point that someone is not capable of speaking, writing or working for 3 full months.

Perhaps the RF for once are prioritising recovery, including Kate's mental health. If it were, say, a full hysterectomy, then that essentially throws the body into menopause. Nobody knows how the side effects of an early menopause might affect Kate specifically, and maybe the RF are playing it safe knowing that she could well find public engagements very hard for quite some time after her physical wounds have recovered.

Women are perfectly entitled to guard their medical privacy in these circumstances. Even Royals. Once she's fully recovered, she may decide to talk more openly in the hope it will help others. But right now they're rightly prioritising her privacy. I believe she's had a hysterectomy for all these reasons. She's the future Queen. They're preserving her dignity.

OP Mind your own business. Live your own life, not someone else’s.

User7825525 · 01/03/2024 15:01

What doesn‘t make much sense here is that from what (little) info we know about Kate, she seems like a mentally resilient, neurotypical woman. You have to be in order to sign up for a life like that. She doesn‘t seem the type to prioritise privacy & self care over such disastrous PR that’s on the verge of destroying the monarchy. Another possibility is that she genuinely doesn‘t know what‘s going on and might be on some sort of digital detox. Maybe the PR team keep assuring her everything is fine and she has her phone turned off until Easter.

She has lived with her health condition for years, if not decades, and must have been aware what potential treatments or complications could arise. Even if it was an ostomy, those are designed to improve your quality of life and greatly reduce pain. When faced with your mortality, most chronically ill patients accept the treatment for a better quality of life. The convalescent phase is hard but there are always moments of relief as well because it means the end of previous forms of suffering. It would be logical to send thanks or an update message during those windows of hope, but maybe this has been discouraged by the PR team themselves.

It seems a tad dramatic to suggest that an ostomy or hysterectomy or whatnot is “mentally breaking“ to the point that someone is not capable of speaking, writing or working for 3 full months. It‘s like saying a cancer patient must be so traumatised by hair loss that they refuse to leave the house for their entire treatment. In reality, most people get a hat or a wig and push on.

Sorry have they publicised a chronic illness that she’s had for years? What is it? I must have missed the article.

The only people who seem to have an issue with ‘The PR’ are the ones perpetuating conspiracy theories and shit stirring online as far as I can tell. No wonder the statement to page 6 was a tad terse, there is clearly an orchestrated online campaign which doesn’t merit a serious response.

chalkiegirl · 01/03/2024 18:42

Funds come from the Duchy’s of Cornwall and Lancaster from land and property, which as well as creating wealth for the RF which pays for much of the trappings of royalty, also provide much employment for others.
All this information is available on the RF website etc. No need for people to be ignorant unless they choose to be.

PinkTonic · 01/03/2024 18:45

Newchapterbeckons · 01/03/2024 13:15

I see the shift has started. Repeating over and over again the KP narrative.

She is apparently flicking through magazines

Williams ‘personal matter’ is nothing, he always pulls out of his family memorials with under an hour to go

It’s completely normal for Kate to go off grid for three months without a word

Totally normal for her not to thank her well wishers

Of course she is holed up somewhere and the unnamed source stating she is ‘doing well’ was underwhelming - of course they wouldn’t normally say she is recovering as expected and we will see her soon. As they always do with anything like this.

It’s fucking disturbing as it is dishonest, whilst the PR machine lurch into one crisis after another with their fingers in their ears. It’s bizarre to watch and witness.

JUST BE HONEST!!

Whatever the truth is, it can’t be any worse than the shit currently being served up as people search for the truth.

I feel sorry for Kate, she is being very badly let down and represented by the people that should be protecting her. Tell the truth and the public will respond with love and support.

To be completely fair, the person pushing a narrative here is you. You must be exhausted. Don’t you have a life offline?

So they don’t need the tens of millions we all pay? Great!!

Mrschristmasqueen · 01/03/2024 18:47

I don't know why people need to know. I had a hysterectomy four weeks ago. If I had the opportunity to stay at home and be looked after then I would absolutely taken it. I've been signed off work for ten weeks and will likely get another 4 week sick note after that due to the nature of my job. If I had someone who could do school runs for me and take care of everything then I would happily sit at home in my comfies, eating cereal from the box and binge watching TV.

How did they procure all the lands and wealth associated with Cornwall and Lancaster? Did they compensate the peasants and former landowners when they took control or what?

It doesn't make me wonder. I read the statement when she had her surgery, that she'd be recovering at home and be back at work after Easter. It's none of our business really. As for 'weird stuff', they're a family, all families have weird stuff going on.

OhcantthInkofaname · 01/03/2024 19:26

Probably doing what I did after major abdominal surgery. I sat around in my jammies most days. Put my hair in a bun, lounged and watched the tv, nibbled on cheese and crackers, and resumed activities gradually. However unlike me she probably doesn't have to clean the toilet.
