Posting for traffic!

I'm off to ikea to look at kids beds later. I haven't been for YEARS

Are there any must buys or gadgets/great items that one simply must have to make your home/life easier

Would welcome suggestions!

The krisp rolls that are like hard dog biscuits

Cordial to add to prosecco

Large packs of napkins

I like their little glass tealight holders. Five for £1.50.

Going to ikea, what's good?

I use the £2.50 plate holder Ostbit as a display for books.

When?

I was there at Christmas and they had special edition orange ones!

puzzledout · 23/02/2024 18:57

@NashvilleQueen I think you're right! No daim bars in the website! Must've been a Christmas special, I'm off to cry in the corner!

https://www.ikea.com.do/en/pd/hemlagad-frying-pan-art-70467962 perfect tiny shallow frying pan the perfect size for 2 fried eggs or a 2 egg omelette, use mine alot!

Yes this - i never knew I needed a mini frying pan and now am a bit heartbroken if it’s in the dishwasher.

Don’t know if they sell Marabou chocolate in the UK, but that is what I would buy!

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 23/02/2024 19:21

I’ve never got the hype, it all looks, well IKEA

You definitely need Kallax. We have 46 Kallax holes in this house. My best ever garlic crusher is from IKEA so I can recommend one of those. Also, echoing others, lingonberry jam and frozen meatballs to recreate the IKEA dining experience at home.

I know.. I live next to the first and original Ikea in Sweden, it’s in the middle of nowhere. 😂🌲 We go to Ikea just for lunch. There are free refill of meatballs, if you ask for it.

Not much!

I am one of those people who always end up leaving empty handed. I don't really get it.

And the meatballs are like dog food 🤢

I agree, I don’t get it either. Had a long afternoon there once with DD when she was equipping her first house and all I bought was a candle and a roll of sellotape.

My son refers to the socktopus as the octathong given its usage (daughter not me). He is not a fan!

Ohyoudodoyou · 23/02/2024 19:34

I have lots of IKEA stuff, bedroom, garden umbrellas and furniture, even a kitchen - it's all served me very well.
I haven't set foot in the place for about a decade however as I feel like I'm in that big warehouse at the end of 'raiders of the lost ark' - I stand there all overwhelmed and fretful so no point being there.
I'm a much better 'IKEA-online' shopper, at home and on the safety of my bed with wine/coffee and not a herring in sight.

Yes! I eat a tube in the car on the way home.

Oh god yes, but the law is you have to suck that chocolate not bite it? Am I right?

Hatty65 · 23/02/2024 19:55

Am I the only person in Britain to have never been in an Ikea?

I just googled and the nearest one is about a 2 hr drive away.
