Posting for traffic!

I'm off to ikea to look at kids beds later. I haven't been for YEARS

Are there any must buys or gadgets/great items that one simply must have to make your home/life easier

Would welcome suggestions!

Yes this - i never knew I needed a mini frying pan and now am a bit heartbroken if it’s in the dishwasher.

nooooooo...never put non stick in dishwasher...also never put water on it while hot.. it really is the best little pan

My husband is Dutch and loves herrings! Didn't know you could get them in ikea?!

I've promised to feed him like he is a baby penguin, next time we are there.

He is happy to facilitate this. (He loves penguins too)

Err... you're going to eat the herring, chew it into a fishy paste, then regurgitate it into his mouth? And his whole head fits into your mouth? Grin I would visit Ikea to witness this.

They have nice long handled tote bags if you use those. The designs come and go, some people collect them. I use them for carting around craft projects and to-be-darned socks to various kid activities. They tend to hide in the upstairs bit (I last saw one near the kid toys, the kitchen play food kind of area) on the end of units. Gotta seek em out.

As a PP has mentioned the Dimpa (and parkla (super cheap, £1.75!)) storage cases are really great for containing and storing out of season clothes, spare bedding and other 'stuff'. Skubb and hemmafixare are more fancy variants. I keep loads of things in them and stash them in the bottom or on top of wardrobes, or under the bed and the stuff inside won't get dusty. Very useful! I use them camping too to keep things dry and contained, they stack quite well if not overfilled.

The glass jars which are copies of kilner jars.
Plates, spoons, pint glasses, picture frames.

Those kilner glass jars copies are great, I use the tiny ones to make individual jellies. The kids take them to school.

Long shoe horn. I'm not ancient yet but it makes putting tight shoes on a doddle.

Universal pan lids. They're silicone so super easy to store

Ooh I’ll have to look into this! I lost a pan lid many years ago, no idea how but my pans are still going strong so I’ll look into the IKEA lid!

I want some of those glass breakfast jars for overnight oats in my next visit.

Yea their clippy glass jars may look basic but they are far superior for long term use than branded Kilner jars.
