How often do you wipe the fronts of your cupboard?

About 6 months ago we had a new kitchen installed. It awakened the dormant clean freak in me. I probably wipe the fronts of the cupboards 2/3x a week (45 sec job when done regularly). But God forbid I skip a week…It will look like they haven’t been touched in years.

I do live with a dog who gets walked in the muddiest part of the woods behind us (I can thank DH for that who likes “his” route).

This can’t be normal.

Probably twice a year unless there's an obvious spill. I'm saving for a new kitchen so I'll probably be the same as you when the new one comes!

Tontostitis · 21/02/2024 14:13

My cupboards are off white I washed them every day when new 7 years on its about once a week maybe once a fortnight I absolutely love my kitchen so I keep it pretty sparkling tbh.

Papyrophile · 21/02/2024 14:13

Every time my wet dog shakes or something is spilled. Both happen often enough that the kitchen stays cleanish!

Vipoli · 21/02/2024 14:13

Cupboards are a very light greige.

I wipe them down daily when I’m doing the work tops, we have a shaker style kitchen so there’s sort a lip in the frames where it gets dusty so I’d rather just keep on top of it! I think ours would get grubby if we didn’t do it a few times a week at least!

WhatIsHeThinking · 21/02/2024 14:16

Every day usually, other than the top ones that l need to step to reach. They get done once a week. It’s just part of the evening kitchen wipe down.

neleh87 · 21/02/2024 14:16

Every couple of weeks, unless there's been a spill.

Bearpawk · 21/02/2024 14:17

Once a week. No kids or pets so they don't get too grubby.

CuriousityKilledThePussy · 21/02/2024 14:17

Same as @Norpeth, hardly ever unless visibly mucky

crikeymosess · 21/02/2024 14:18

About 3/4 times a week. They are dark and matt therefore show up every spec of dust, mark and hand print. I don't see the point cleaning the kitchen without going over the doors too, it doesn't feel clean if I don't.

eatsleepfarmrepeat · 21/02/2024 14:19

We have dogs and kids so every day, especially at this time of year.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/02/2024 14:20

I do it piecemeal when I notice one needing it. Very occasionally do the whole lot properly including the top cupboards which I can't reach without standing on something.

DarkAcademia · 21/02/2024 14:21

We have a tiny galley kitchen (v small house) and gloss cupboards and drawers under the counters. I wipe them most days? We're quite messy though, to be fair.

ThePoshUns · 21/02/2024 14:21

On the occasion when I notice any marks or spills. Mine are matt , grey, flat, no handles. Bomb proof.

Freefree · 21/02/2024 14:22

Before the MIL comes over so roughly once a fortnight

Wellhellooooodear · 21/02/2024 14:22

Once a week if I remember, or when there is a spill.

potentialfraud · 21/02/2024 14:23

Every day as have white cupboards

lifebeginsaftercoffee · 21/02/2024 14:24

Whenever I notice they look a bit mucky - maybe once a month?

We're in the process of re-doing the kitchen though so I'll probably pay more attention when they're freshly painted and smart looking.

Sahara123 · 21/02/2024 14:24

Too flipping much , never again will I have gloss doors which show every finger mark . Drives me nuts . No idea what the answer is

Jovacknockowitch · 21/02/2024 14:24

Never unless an obvious stain appears

NecessaryNC24 · 21/02/2024 14:25

Everytime I clean as grown DCs cook a lot and are splashers !

TheCompactPussycat · 21/02/2024 14:25

On average probably once a week or so. We have a big kitchen (18 base units, 16 wall units) so I don't do all of them that often. The ones on the far side of the kitchen maybe more like once a month.

It's all oak so the dirt doesn't show as much as on white/gloss units.

Nutsabouttopic · 21/02/2024 14:27

Every evening and throughout the day if I see a spill on them. Combination of snow white cupboards and messy dc who spill drinks and food daily and don't see the results

TheDowagerDoughnut · 21/02/2024 14:30

So often that the next cupboard doors are going to be perfectly flat with no borders, ridges etc - just to make the wipe over much easier!

Vipoli · 21/02/2024 14:33

We’ve gone for the shaker style. Not too bad in the end re cleaning. The ridge/lip honestly scared me - everyone warned me it would be a nightmare to keep clean.
